Grace shook her head, a deep sadness in her eyes. “We were once so close, and now look where we are.”

Henry provoked her, hurling insults at her. Even the poisoning case from back then had his fingerprints all over it.

The more Grace thought about it, the deeper her disappointment grew, and soon that disappointment turned into disdain, mixing into a strange sense of hatred.

Olivia frowned. “Grandma Grace, be honest with me. Is the poisoning case at the orphanage also connected to the Evans family?” She always had a way of finding the truth amidst the chaos.

Grace nodded gravely. She had to admit that Olivia was way too smart.

She said, “The children ate just like usual that day. Halfway through, some began vomiting and having diarrhea, with foam in their mouths. Then, more kids started having the same symptoms.

“I checked all the food, and there was no sign of poison. I thought it was just food poisoning, so I gave them the typical medicine. However, after they took the medicine, they didn’t get any better–in fact, they just got worse.

“Coincidentally, a group of people suddenly barged in, taking pictures of us. The kids had to wait for ia /ilong time before being sent to the hospital. Some survived, but others didn’t.”

As Grace thought about it, she choked up, her voice breaking. She had always seen each child at the orphanage as her own, and their faces were a constant source of joy and peace for her.

Olivia gently wrapped her arm around Grace’s shoulders, saying softly, “I understand. I know you would never harm them.”

The children at Sunrise Orphanage were all abandoned by their parents, with most of them being girls.

Grace took them in, raising them with love. She was like their guardian angel, protecting them unconditionally.

Grace gently patted Olivia’s hand, suppressing her emotions, and continued, “Later, the police came to search the orphanage. They found cyanide and thallium buried under a tree in the yard.”

Cyanide and thallium were both highly toxic and deadly.

Ingesting cyanide led to vomiting, diarrhea, and difficulty breathing, while thallium was even worse–just a tiny amount could cause serious harm.

Putting cyanide and thallium together was a deadlybination. It was something only a trained medical professional would understand.

Grace was the only one with medical knowledge in the entire orphanage, which naturally made her the prime suspect in the police’s investigation.

“The food wasn’t poisoned. Was it the water?” Olivia asked.

“Exactly.” Grace nodded. “They checked the surveince footage and imed I poisoned the water that morning, but the truth is, I was in my room all morning.”

Grace frowned, feeling something was off. Normally, she was an early riser, but that day, she felt unusually tired and ended up sleeping in until noon.

When she woke up, she immediately joined the children for breakfast, never onceing near the water source.

However, the “Grace” in the surveince footage looked exactly like her. The clothes she wore that day, her walking posture, and even the mole on her palm were all the same.

The children also imed to have seen her putting something into the water. All the evidence pointed to her as the real

killer.

“I couldn’t get them to believe me, no matter how hard I tried,” Grace said, her voice trembling with anger. “They arrested me right after. A crowd of media blocked my way, and the people wanting to adopt the children were all questioning me.”

Overnight, she went from being a respected woman to a viin everyone wanted to destroy. The “Grace” who resembled her so closely vanished without a trace, leaving her unable to defend herself.

Grace smiled bitterly. “I was stripped of my position as head of the orphanage and sentenced to twenty years in prison. In the end, it was Henry who stepped in and got me out.”

Only now did Olivia learn the full story of what had happened back then. When Grace was in trouble, she was busy in theb, unable to help. She had no idea what the “Grace” in the surveince footage was all about.

Grace let out a long sigh of relief and said, “It’s all over now. As long as the children are doing well, I’ll be at peace. What I’m curious about is who managed to take down the Evans family.”

Sean raised his hand.

Seeing Sean’s serious expression, Grace chuckled. “You’re too young to handle something like that. Don’t joke around.”

Sean shook his head in frustration. He was telling the truth, but no one believed him. He huffed angrily and ran around the yard.

Grace, worried that he might destroy her courtyard, quickly tried to calm him down. “Alright, I believe you. You’re so clever. Taking down the Evans family is just so easy for you, right?”

Sean could tell she was just humoring him. Annoyed, he kicked a tree, his anger bubbling up.

The tree shook, almost as if it were about to fall over.

Olivia red at him. “Sean, stop.”

Sean immediately stopped.

“I’ve heard about the things the Evans family has done over the years. They mistreated patients, were driven by greed, and lost thepassion of a true healer.” Grace sighed. “They finally paid the price.”

Henry had once been her ssmate, and seeing him end up like this was truly a bittersweet irony.

Olivia said nothing, just giving a soft smile as she looked at Grace. She knew that she had always been good–hearted and treated everyone with sincerity. If not, she wouldn’t have saved Olivia back then.

However, her kindness eventually turned against her.

Olivia sent a message to Lucas. [Find the surveince footage from the day of the incident at Sunrise Orphanage four years ago.]

Meanwhile, Lucas had juste back after a night of drinking and was about to sleep after a shower when Olivia’s bmessage /bpopped up.

Lucas shot back a quick reply, his frustration evident. [That incident caused a huge stir. The video must have been locked down by the National Security Bureau. I don’t have the skills to hack into their system.]

Lucas had no intention of refusing her, but he knew this would be tough.

On one hand, the National Security Bureau’s security system was top–notch. One slip–up, and he would be caught. If he were used of stealing national secrets, the consequences would be dire.

On the other hand, his hacking skills were pretty poor, and he thought Sean would be way better for this job.

Olivia sent another message. [Do what you have to. I just want the results.]
