Curtis, who had been silent behind Troy, finally spoke up. “Grandpa, trust her. Olivia can do it. fn30c2 Find the newest release on Find[?]ovel/fn30c2

Olivia nced back at him, a flicker of a genuine smile touching her lips. “See? He gets it.”

Troy shot Curtis a furious look and gave him a sharp kick on the ankle. “What do you know?” he hissed, lowering his voice. “Forplicated reasons, Olivia never went to high school.

“Yes, she’s a genius, but you know as well as I do how hard that curriculum is.”

The academic leap from middle school to high school was massive. Students who were straight–A geniuses in eighth grade often struggled to just pass their sses as freshmen.

Curtis didn’t care about the kick. He couldn’t speak to her other academic skills, but he had zero doubts about Olivia and the SAT. Her medical knowledge was staggering, which meant math and science would be a cakewalk.

And anyone who could memorize thousands of herbal remedies andplex chemical forms had to have a photographic memory. The reading and writing sections would be no match for her.

But still, Troy couldn’t shake the heavy feeling of dread that had settled in his heart.

“Such a fool,” Hallie sneered. “Since you’re so eager to fail, I’ll make the terms simple. Like everyone else, you will take today’s diagnostic exam.

“It was designed by our top instructors to be slightly more challenging than the real SAT. My demand is this: all you have to do is score in the top twenty percent of this ss. That’s it. Manage that, and I will concede.”

She tilted her chin up, a look of absolute certainty on her face. She was going to destroy Olivia.

The top twenty percent meant cracking the top ten. For any normal student, that would be a challenge. For a person who never went to high school, it was unthinkable.

Every single student in this room was a top performer, the best of the best from their schools. Just making it into the top half of this ss was a major aplishment.

The room buzzed with the impossible terms.

“Top twenty percent? So, she needs to get into the top ten? No way.”

“Ms. Brown’s being a little unfair, isn’t she? That’s not a challenge. It’s an execution. There’s no way someone who didn’t even go to high school can pull that off.”

“I don’t know… She seems pretty confident. Maybe she really can do it.”

“Whatever. As long as we don’t have to listen to a lecture, I’m good.”

Troy thought this had gone way too far and started to protest, but Olivia ced a calming hand on his arm, stopping him.

She calmly tucked her hair behind her ear, her focus entirely on Hallic. “I ept,” she said.

“If I score in the top ten, we’ll go with your terms,” Olivia said, a ghost of a smile ying on her lips. “However, I have a few conditions of my own.

“If I make the top five, you’ll do everything you said. And you will issue a formal, public apology to every single student you’ve been mean to.

“And if I make the top three, in addition to all of that, you will personally return every single award for teaching excellence you have ever received.”

Olivia took a step closer, her voice dropping to a deadly whisper that only Hallie could hear. “Because you are not worthy of them.”

“You-” Hallie choked, her face flushing a deep red. “That is insane.”

“What?” Olivia asked, tilting her head. A look of pure contempt shed in her eyes. “Are you afraid you’ll lose?” That was the final straw. “Afraid?” Hallie scoffed. “I’m not scared of anything. Fine. I ept. I ept it all.”
