One Night Bride: Master Blackwood's Substitute Wife
Chapter 3: Assuming Another Identity Again
CHAPTER 3: CHAPTER 3: ASSUMING ANOTHER IDENTITY AGAIN
She hadn’t had time to react when Justin Rhodes pulled her in front of Sebastian Blackwood: "Uncle, this is the girl I like, her name is Ken..."
"Ahem!"
Ivy Kensington quickly coughed, cutting him off: "I have something to do, I’ll be leaving first."
Sebastian Blackwood’s sharp gaze suddenly fell on Ivy Kensington; it was her again.
Instinctively, Justin Rhodes wanted to chase after her, but was stopped by his mother: "Justin, stay put, do not go after her."
Justin’s mother looked serious: "I don’t like that girl, you should break it off with her."
Being someone who had been around, she could instantly tell that Ivy Kensington had no interest in Justin Rhodes.
Justin Rhodes clenched his fist, somewhat angry: "I just like Ivy Kensington!"
His mother sighed, looking at Sebastian Blackwood: "Sebastian, Justin is still so naive. Go have a look at that girl; it’s hard to find a cab here at this hour."
Sebastian Blackwood gave a sound of acknowledgment.
Outside.
Ivy Kensington waited for a long time, and indeed couldn’t find a cab.
The weather was hot, and soon she was covered in sweat.
"Screech."
The sound of tires skidding against the ground came as a Maybach stopped in front of her.
The car window rolled down, and the man’s strikingly handsome face came into view. Sebastian Blackwood spoke in a cold tone: "Get in the car."
Ivy Kensington was startled and shook her head: "No need, I’ve already hailed a cab."
She feared getting too close to Sebastian Blackwood and being recognized.
His eyes narrowed, his scrutinizing gaze fell on her, questioning: "Are you afraid of me? Or are you deliberately avoiding me?"
The man’s sharp gaze was like a blade, seemingly about to pierce through Ivy Kensington.
In a panic and sweating, her phone rang suddenly; it was a call from Dahlia Kensington. Ivy Kensington quickly used it as an excuse to walk away.
"Ivy Kensington, you bitch! How dare you steal my man, I won’t let you get away with it!"
Dahlia Kensington was someone who could go crazy at any given moment. Ivy Kensington didn’t want to deal with her and was about to hang up when Anne Linden’s voice came through: "Ivy, continue to stand in for Dahlia at the Blackwood family for a few more days, and switch identities back when the time comes."
Anne Linden’s words made Ivy Kensington clench her fists. She wanted to refute, but the man in front of her suddenly spoke: "Get in the car, don’t make me say it a second time."
Sebastian Blackwood’s expression was cold and clearly impatient.
The call had already ended, and Ivy Kensington frowned deeply.
If she got in the car now, it was highly likely she’d be discovered at the Blackwood family later.
So Ivy Kensington firmly shook her head: "I won’t trouble Mr. Blackwood."
Without waiting for his response, Ivy Kensington directly ignored him and walked away on her own.
Sebastian Blackwood stared at the girl’s slender figure for a moment, then stepped on the gas pedal, and the Maybach sped away.
As the car brushed past Ivy Kensington’s arm, she found it utterly nonsensical.
Is it wrong not to take his car?
Having not been able to find a cab, Ivy Kensington had essentially been walking and it took an hour and a half before she finally got a cab.
By then it was very late, and it seemed unlikely she would make it to Ronnie’s place tonight.
As she was thinking this, a video call from Ronnie came through.
The little girl had two small pigtails and looked at her with round, pleading eyes: "Mommy, Ronnie misses you."
Ivy Kensington’s heart melted instantly, and she cooed: "Ronnie, be a good girl and sleep, you’ll see Mommy tomorrow."
The little girl seemed unconvinced, pouting with a still-grievous expression.
This expression inexplicably reminded Ivy Kensington of Sebastian Blackwood, especially Ronnie’s eyes; for one second, she even felt as if it were Sebastian gazing at her.
She shook her head hard, casting aside that terrifying notion.
Years ago, the Kensington Family, for money, had sent her to an old man’s bed; if not for Dahlia Kensington, she would never have tangled with Sebastian Blackwood in this lifetime.
Back then, that man had given her a jade pendant, saying that if she showed it to him, he would be responsible for her. Ivy Kensington’s mind was hazy at the time and didn’t hear what else he said later. Not long after returning to the Kensington Family, she had lost that pendant and couldn’t find it despite looking for a long time.
Nevertheless, the memory was filled with humiliation for Ivy Kensington, and since she couldn’t find it, she didn’t care much about it; after all, she hadn’t even clearly seen the man’s face, and wouldn’t know where to find him even if she wanted to.
After saying several more kind words, she finally managed to comfort Ronnie.
Ending the video call, Ivy Kensington first went to school to change clothes, then deliberately applied makeup to imitate Dahlia Kensington before heading to the Blackwood family.
When she arrived at the Blackwood family and saw who was inside, her heart lifted at once—how did they come here?
