One Piece: Killing Devour
Chapter 37 37 – Angel Town
The arrival of the two uninvited guests made Lance feel like his personal space had been violated—but in the end, he could only accept the reality.
Baby-5 needed no explanation. Her mind was dead set on following him, and as long as he was alive, she would follow without question.
Rebecca, on the other hand, had surprised him. He had thought she was an obedient, well-mannered girl. Who would've thought she had a streak of bold rebellion in her? But when Lance questioned her, he learned that Kyros actually knew about it—and not only did he not stop her, he even supported her decision to follow Lance and continue learning swordsmanship. If anything "happened" along the way, he wouldn't mind either.
After all, Lance himself was only sixteen or seventeen years old. His mental maturity might've been beyond his age, but it wasn't like it was some creepy old man going after young girls.
And so, unwillingly, Lance began living a chaotic life with two women—both stunningly beautiful in looks and figure.
Every day, he would instruct Rebecca in swordsmanship, physical combat, and other fighting techniques, while also teaching her the basics of Haki—starting with both Busoshoku Haki (Armament Haki) and Kenbunshoku Haki (Observation Haki).
Baby-5 followed him everywhere and trained alongside Rebecca. Lance was blunt: if they didn't want to be dead weight, they had to become stronger.
But once night fell—it became Baby-5's domain.
Wearing nothing but a provocative maid apron, with the rest of her figure left bare and glowing like porcelain under the moonlight, she would leap into Lance's arms, rubbing against him with her voluptuous body.
Even with Lance's exceptional willpower, he couldn't resist her advances. He would flip her over and dominate her again and again, claiming her without restraint.
And so, ten days passed quietly.
Their first destination: Angel Town—an unremarkable place deep in the New World.
Though not wealthy or powerful, and without producing any notable figures, the town lived up to its name: Angel Town. A warm, peaceful place full of harmony and quiet joy.
But that paradise had been cruelly shattered.
Now, Angel Town was nothing more than a pile of rubble. Destruction was everywhere.
"Benefactor-sama… this is your hometown?"
Rebecca's voice was soft and pained as she took in the devastation.
Indeed, Lance's first stop after setting sail was his hometown.
He had no memories of the place anymore, but from what remained, it was easy to tell this had once been a peaceful, idyllic village.
Now, the ground was covered in broken debris, and the scars of immense destruction were everywhere.
"My hometown, huh…"
"…I guess."
Lance exhaled a puff of smoke, his voice indifferent.
He'd thought returning might stir something within him. Some emotion. Some memory.
But staring at ruins even worse than what was left after his battle with Doflamingo… he felt nothing.
He remembered nothing of this place. To him, it was like walking into a stranger's home—no nostalgia, no attachment.
Still, even without that emotional bond, he hadn't abandoned his plan to take revenge on Kaidō and Jack the Drought.
He might not feel anything, but that didn't mean he didn't belong here. He had been born here, raised here. And Angel Town's destruction was something he couldn't just ignore.
"Who's there?! Come out!"
Suddenly, Baby-5's demeanor shifted. Gone was the sweet maid act. She turned fierce in a flash, her hand transforming into a gun aimed at the far end of the ruins.
"Don't shoot! Please, don't shoot!"
A group of terrified, ragged people emerged from the rubble—covered in dust and dirt, trembling with fear. They immediately dropped to their knees, begging for mercy.
Among them were children—barely ten years old—faces pale with fear, mimicking the adults and falling to their knees.
"Baby-neesan!"
"That's enough! Please, let's help them!"
Rebecca rushed forward and gently pulled Baby-5's gun away, helping the suffering townsfolk up.
The refugees seemed to sense that Rebecca meant no harm, and their fear slowly eased.
"They're all survivors from Angel Town, huh?"
"Jack the Drought… that bastard."
Baby-5 frowned and lowered her weapon. She regained some of her usual confidence—but as soon as she remembered Lance was behind her, she softened again, putting on her usual delicate expression. The speed at which she changed faces was staggering.
"Are you all from Angel Town?"
Lance stepped forward calmly and asked.
"Yes, sir… You're right. We're all from Angel Town… Please, have mercy. We have nothing left… our homes are gone, our money is gone. Please let us live…"
An old man pleaded as he approached.
"Hey! Isn't that Lance-nii?"
"It is! It's really him!"
"Lance-nii, you're back!"
Surprisingly, the children in the crowd recognized him. Despite the dust and tears, they excitedly waved and called out to him.
"So it's true…"
"This really is my home."
Lance took a long drag from his cigarette.
He hadn't fully believed Daniu when he mentioned his name. But now, with these children recognizing him so clearly—even after all this time—there could be no doubt.
They were survivors. And they remembered him.
There was no better proof that he had once lived here.
"Benefactor-sama, they're so pitiful. This is your hometown… let's help them, please?"
Rebecca looked at him with hopeful, teary eyes—her empathy burning bright.
Lance didn't speak. He finished his cigarette in silence, flicked the butt away…
"Everyone, get behind me."
