One Piece: Killing Devour
Chapter 65 65: Gambling with Tesoro
"Then let's give it a try."
Lance pulled out a cigarette, lit it, and took a puff. "Bet 1 billion Berries for me."
"Playing casually and you're already betting 1 billion? You're truly amazing!"
Baccarat's eyes flashed as she clapped lightly with a smile.
On both sides of the casino, two massive giant attendants carried dice larger than a man, made of heavy lead-iron, and dropped them with a thunderous thud in front of a massive dice cup shaped like a bronze bell.
"Another good show is starting!"
"Who's the unlucky one this time?"
"Betting 1 billion all at once? This guy must be filthy rich!"
The VIP hall was full of guests—dignitaries from across the world, powerful officials, high-ranking marines, and notorious pirates from the New World. Different classes and factions all seemed to have formed a strange unspoken harmony, gathering together to watch.
Not only that, but their gazes fixed on Lance and his companions, lips curled in mocking smiles—as though they were watching clowns on stage, waiting for a farce to unfold.
At that moment, a hulking brute stepped out from the corner.
He wore the signature uniform of Tesoro's men, a headscarf tied tight, golden beard bristling, chewing gum impatiently with a terrifying aura radiating from him. At a glance, one could tell he was no ordinary lackey.
"This is our 'cup breaker,'" Baccarat introduced with a faint smile. "His name is Dice. He was once the undefeated champion of the underground death matches. But because he could take hits too well, no one wanted to fight him anymore. Lord Tesoro saw his potential and recruited him to serve as the dice cup breaker for VIP games."
Her eyes shifted back to Lance. "Now then, Mr. Lance, it's time to place your bet. Will you choose odd or even?"
"Even."
Lance answered without hesitation.
"Since you've decided, let's begin!"
At her signal, Dice scooped up the two enormous lead-iron dice and tossed them into the air, then quickly seized the massive bronze-bell-shaped cup to cover them.
His strength was truly monstrous. The dice and cup together weighed several tons, yet he shook them around as if they were toys before slamming them down hard.
Then, with a mad grin, he leapt high into the air—
Instead of using his hands, he smashed the dice cup with his forehead.
Boom!
The cup exploded into fragments.
"Ahhh… that feels good~~"
Dice moaned in ecstasy.
"Ten points! Even!"
As the result was revealed, Baby 5 gasped in delight.
That was a clean win of 1 billion Berries!
Such an enormous fortune—it could buy them half a shopping mall again!
"Mr. Lance, your luck is incredible. Winning 1 billion right off the bat!" Baccarat covered her mouth, laughing softly.
"Two billion. Odd."
Lance exhaled a smoke ring, his voice calm, pushing all his winnings straight back onto the table.
The surrounding guests exchanged glances, their surprise showing.
This guy was interesting.
Winning 1 billion would have made most people ecstatic, unable to contain their joy. After all, it wasn't just ten or twenty million—it was 1 billion Berries, wealth most could never touch in a lifetime.
But this older-looking man didn't even flinch. No excitement, no thrill—just calm indifference.
That kind of composure made them reassess him with wary eyes.
"Two billion? Mr. Lance, your boldness is truly breathtaking." Baccarat blinked in surprise, then quickly recovered and snapped her fingers.
Dice once again repeated his bizarre ritual. With a headbutt, the giant dice cup shattered, and all eyes snapped to the dice within.
"Nine points! Odd!"
Another win!
And this time, a full 2 billion Berries!
The crowd burst into applause.
From the moment he walked in, in less than five minutes, he had already made 3 billion Berries. His total wealth had now reached 4 billion.
Even after winning such a staggering sum, Lance's expression remained unchanged, as if this mountain of wealth was nothing more than scraps. His unshakable composure earned genuine respect from the onlookers.
"Yay! We won! We won again!"
Baby 5 squealed, throwing herself at Lance, showering his face with kisses, bouncing in pure joy.
Rebecca too was beside herself with excitement, practically trembling with disbelief.
Even Monet, usually calm, couldn't help but feel dazed—Lance had just casually earned 3 billion with a few words.
Clap, clap, clap…
Suddenly, applause rang out.
Everyone turned to see a tall, lean man with green hair, dressed in pink, covered in golden ornaments.
"Tesoro-sama!"
"It's Tesoro!"
"Hahaha, looks like this guy's luck has run out. Now the real show begins!"
The guests lit up with anticipation.
"First time meeting. I'm the captain of this ship—Gild Tesoro."
"Mr. Lance, is it? Welcome aboard the Gran Tesoro. It seems you're having a great time."
Tesoro smiled warmly.
"I must say, your luck is truly enviable. To win two rounds in a row and turn 1 billion into 4 billion just like that…"
He chuckled, his eyes narrowing ever so slightly.
"I admire that. So please, would you do me the honor of gambling against me, just one round?"
Tesoro stepped directly onto the gaming floor, folding his legs beneath him as he sat down.
"To show my sincerity, if you win, I'll pay you ten times the bet. Of course, if you lose, I won't ask you to pay ten times in return. What do you say?"
His eyes slid toward Lance, and in their depths flashed a glimmer of sly malice.
