CHAPTER 234: CHAPTER 234: ELEMENTAL SLIME, THE MAGE OF THE FIVE ELEMENTS ADVANCEMENT

Stellar City was guarding the entrance to the Land of Confusion.

As Johnnie and Nalorin·Sylvia left the city, they saw a massive, majestic wall stretching for tens of thousands of meters, separating the Universe Continent from the Land of Confusion.

Roar! Roar!

The angry roars of monsters echoed. Monsters from the Land of Confusion were attacking the wall, clashing with the defending soldiers.

Johnnie and Nalorin flew over on their swords, quickly reaching above the city wall and getting a clear view of the battle below.

"Are those... Slimes?"

Johnnie looked toward the forest, shrouded in black mist, and saw large groups of monsters that looked like blobs of liquid bouncing into sight.

They looked a lot like the Slimes from legends, except they weren’t weak at all. All of them were Stage 6 Demonic Creatures, coming in all sorts of colors, and they could even use elemental magic.

Elemental monsters!

There were even rare Metal, Wood, and Wind type Slimes.

Johnnie’s Mage of the Five Elements advancement quest only needed him to kill ten thousand Stage 4 or higher Metal and Earth attribute monsters to complete.

These Slimes were not only numerous, but every single one was a Stage 6 monster—perfect for the advancement requirements.

"Master, should we go?" Nalorin·Sylvia was excited, eager to jump into the fight.

"Let’s wait a bit." Johnnie spotted someone he knew and flew down toward the city wall.

"Hurry, fire the Magic Cannons at full power! Don’t worry about running out of Magic Cores!" A middle-aged man was giving orders, looking very serious as he led the army in attacking the Slimes below.

It was Stellar City’s lord, Grayden.

Boom! Boom!

The Magic Cannons on the wall kept roaring. These were special defense weapons of the Universe Continent, built by both alchemists and formation masters.

"Lord Grayden, need a hand?" Johnnie landed on the wall and greeted him with a smile.

"Oh, it’s you." Grayden recognized Johnnie, then glanced at Nalorin·Sylvia, looking a little surprised.

"Lady Domain." he quickly bowed respectfully.

Nalorin·Sylvia just nodded coldly and stood behind Johnnie.

Grayden didn’t mind, leaving the battlefield to his subordinates as he turned to Johnnie and asked, "Adventurer, are you trying to enter the Land of Confusion?"

Johnnie nodded.

Grayden didn’t look too optimistic. He said, "Adventurer, I suggest you wait a bit. Lately, a lot of powerful beings have appeared in the Land of Confusion for some reason. Even the Evil Monarch, who owns a piece of the Map of Heaven and Earth, has broken through and become a Half-God. Even with a Domain-level helper, it’ll be extremely dangerous for you."

"Don’t worry, I can handle it." Johnnie replied confidently. He had grown much stronger and was sure he could face a Half-God.

And with Maiev, Nalorin·Sylvia, and the Dark Golden Golem by his side—three Divine powerhouses—even if they ran into a Lesser God, Johnnie was confident he could take them down.

"Perfect, let me help you deal with some of these monsters." Johnnie said, glancing at the Slimes below. With a thought, he unleashed his Myriad Sword Technique. A powerful Sword Intent surged out, turning into tens of thousands of sword lights that roared down toward the Slimes.

Grayden had just opened his mouth to speak, but the next scene left him completely stunned.

Splat! Splat!

The sword lights pierced right through the Slimes in an instant, and waves of damage numbers flashed over their heads.

-275,000

-275,000

...

The weaker Slimes were killed instantly.

The prompt messages kept popping up:

[Ding! You killed a stage 6, level 10 Slime and gained 10 experience points.]

[Cosmic Eclipse Blade passive triggered...]

Johnnie had reached stage 6, and his experience bar kept jumping, but he was still far from leveling up.

It took a full 100 million experience points just to go from stage 6 level 1 to the next level.

Before this, he’d been stuck with the Seal Demon Spell, unable to level up and stacking up tons of experience—maybe enough to break through to stage 8.

But as soon as he hit stage 6, all that extra experience disappeared.

No shortcuts, apparently.

Slimes were slaughtered in waves, dropping tons of loot.

"What... What kind of damage is that?" Grayden’s voice trembled as he watched.

Johnnie was only stage 6, but he was killing Slimes in seconds, and his damage was even scarier than the Magic Cannons.

And those two-hundred-thousand-plus damage numbers seemed like they weren’t even his limit.

In just moments, all the Slimes around the city were wiped out. Silence fell over the battlefield.

The soldiers on the wall stared in shock, unable to believe what they’d just seen.

Johnnie didn’t stop, though—he kept hunting down the Slimes. This was a rare chance to advance his Mage of the Five Elements class.

"Master, save some for me!" Nalorin·Sylvia protested. She wanted to kill some Slimes herself to level up her Sword Control Technique and max out her proficiency.

Buzz!

Her Sword Intent hummed, and her Stellar Sword shot out, also killing Slimes easily.

But compared to Johnnie, her kill speed was much slower.

"Master?" Grayden heard Nalorin·Sylvia call Johnnie that, and he rubbed his ears, wondering if he’d misheard.

A Divine powerhouse calling an adventurer her master?

Could Johnnie actually be even stronger than a Domain-level expert?

[Ding! You’ve completed the Mage of the Five Elements stage 4 advancement quest.]

[You’ve learned the skills Vine Cage and Fury of the Scorching Heavens.]

[Vine Cage: Level 1 (1/10,000). Control skill. Summon vines to form a cage, trapping enemies. Costs 1,000 mana.]

[Fury of the Scorching Heavens: Level 1 (1/10,000). Area damage skill. Summon raging flames from the sky, dealing continuous fire magic damage to all enemies in the area. Uses 1,000 mana per second.]

[Ding! Your rank has increased to stage 6, level 1. Mage of the Five Elements stage 5 advancement quest unlocked.]

[Mage of the Five Elements Stage 5 Advancement Quest: Raise Five Elements Affinity to 40% (40% complete); Upgrade Five Elements Technique to Level 5 (completed); Kill 100,000 Stage 5 or higher elemental Demonic Creatures (not yet complete)]

The prompt messages flashed. Johnnie easily defeated ten thousand Metal and Earth Slimes. The Mage of the Five Elements reached stage 4 and learned two powerful new skills.

One is a Wood skill that controls enemies, and the other is a Fire skill that deals damage to a wide area.

Now the Stage 5 quest had started. With so many elemental Slimes around, reaching Stage 5 would be easy.

Countless sword lights flashed as Johnnie continued the slaughter.

Soon, all the Slimes in the area were wiped out. No new Slimes appeared from the forest shrouded in black mist in the distance.

Johnnie felt a bit disappointed—he’d only finished about a quarter of the elemental monster-kill quest.

But since there were Slimes here, there must be even more inside the Land of Confusion.

He went down the city wall to check the Slime drops.

"Nothing?" He frowned, searching through the Slime corpses. There were dropped weapons, equipment, enhancement stones, and piles of slime, but not the Five Element Spiritual Stones he wanted.

Before, killing elemental monsters would often drop the matching Spiritual Stones.

But these Slimes only dropped piles of slime instead.

Johnnie picked up a greenish blob, a bit disgusted, and checked it.

[Wind Element Demonized Slime Gel: Special quest item. Collect 100 to exchange with the Mountain Hunter for a Wind-Spirit Pearl.]

So Slime gel could be exchanged for Spirit Pearls!

Although it looked gross, Johnnie was happy to keep it.

Even if Spirit Pearls didn’t drop directly, every Slime would drop gel. With 100 gels, he could still get a Spirit Pearl—not a bad deal.

He quickly summoned the Red Carp and the Dark Golden Golem to help clean up the battlefield.

Since both of them had some authority over the Map of Heaven and Earth, items could be sent straight into the Mountains and Rivers Realm.

At that moment, Grayden came over, now addressing Johnnie with more respect."Lord Johnnie." he said, glancing at all the Slime corpses on the ground. "Would you mind if I took care of these Slime bodies?"

Johnnie looked puzzled. "Are these Slime corpses useful?"

Grayden nodded, walked over to a Slime, and cut it open with a dagger.

He pulled out a small crystal and explained, "This is a Magic Core. It’s unique to Demonic Creatures in the Land of Confusion. It’s filled with energy, but it can’t be used directly. Still, it’s great for alchemy, forging, or powering magic cannons."

Johnnie took the Magic Core and looked at it curiously.

[Red Slime Magic Core: Contains fire power. Has many uses, but is full of impurities and cannot be absorbed.]

Just as Grayden said.

Lina was an alchemist, so these could be useful to her.

But with so many Slimes here and surely more Demonic Creatures deeper in the Land of Confusion, Johnnie didn’t mind giving these Magic Cores to Grayden. Besides, it was a good way to earn a favor.

Johnnie nodded and agreed right away. "Alright, you can have all the Slime corpses, but no one is allowed to touch the other loot."

The Slimes dropped stage 6 weapons, gear, and all kinds of rare items. Players could use them, and the market was huge—these drops could be sold for a lot of gold.

"Thank you, sir!" Grayden said happily. He quickly ordered the soldiers to collect the Slime Magic Cores.

As for the other loot, even though the soldiers were tempted, no one dared to pick anything up with Grayden’s order.

Soon, the battlefield was cleaned up. Johnnie ended up with over a hundred thousand piles of Slime gel—enough to trade for more than a thousand Spirit Stones.

He just needed to find that Mountain Hunter first.

"Lord Grayden, do you know who the Mountain Hunter is?" Johnnie asked.

Grayden had guarded the Land of Confusion for years, so he should know something about the Mountain Hunter.

"You want to exchange for Spirit Stones, right?" Grayden understood the use of Slime gel. He shook his head and said, "Sir, the Mountain Hunter belongs to the demon race in the Land of Confusion. He only trades with demons—he won’t trade with you."

A demon?

Johnnie wasn’t fond of the demon race. If he couldn’t exchange the gel, collecting all this would be for nothing.

But maybe not. He could try threatening the Mountain Hunter, or maybe win over a demon race member to help him.

After finding out where the Mountain Hunter was—in a forest on the edge of the Land of Confusion.

He didn’t stay any longer. Together with Nalorin Sylvia, he stepped into the land of confusion covered in black mist.
