CHAPTER 293: CHAPTER 293: THE ELDER DRAGON WILDS, SURROUNDED AND HUNTED

Johnnie stayed alert. He didn’t trust these people, and his gut told him leaving the city would be dangerous.

But when the gate opened and he saw the wilds outside, he changed his mind at once.

Roar...

Waves of furious roars rolled across the plain. Countless dragon monsters were roaming the wilderness.

For the Seven Sword to advance again, he needed to kill a million sub-dragon monsters. These dragon monsters fit the bill, and there were a lot of them—at least tens of millions.

There was surely some scheme hidden in these wilds, but Johnnie didn’t care anymore. Even if it was dangerous, getting stronger mattered most.

Besides, The Red Carp had said stage 10 wasn’t her limit; she could keep growing along with the Dragon Patterned Sword.

"Thanks." Johnnie glanced at the middle-aged man who had brought him, gave a quick thanks, and stepped out of the city.

Whoosh...

All at once, a heavy pressure fell over him—ancient and weathered, like the aura of dragons.

But it didn’t affect him much.

Boom!

Behind him came a thunderous crash as the city gate slammed shut.

He felt a strange ripple of power and turned back. The whole city was fading, turning unreal, and then it vanished completely.

An illusion?

No—the world felt real. It had to be a special spatial power.

Johnnie frowned. So the dragons did have a plan. Once you entered these wilds, getting out would be hard.

Roar...

More roars rose as countless dragon monsters rushed in to attack.

Johnnie pulled his thoughts back and stopped worrying about it.

Whatever the dragons were plotting, he would just cut his way through.

He smiled coldly. The Dragon Patterned Sword shot out and began a pitiless slaughter of the dragon monsters.

His strength had climbed again and again, so dealing with them was easy. The only problem was that he had to use the Seven Sword to kill dragon monsters for it to advance, which slowed his pace a lot.

Even so, with the Art of Controlling the Sword driving the Dragon Patterned Sword, cold light flashing, he was still instantly killing several dragon monsters each second.

Roar...

The angry howls went on and on.

But killing these dragon monsters was to power up the Dragon Patterned Sword, not to raise his own level.

The guards at the city gate clearly saw Johnnie slaughtering the Dragon monsters.

"So strong!" one of them couldn’t help but say. "Is this human really only Stage 6?"

The guard captain frowned and looked at the middle-aged man who had brought Johnnie over. "Lee, who is this human?"

Lee looked confused and shook his head. "Sir, I didn’t ask his identity. Could that be a problem?"

"Probably not. There are unknown powerhouses in The Elder Dragon Wilds—even I don’t dare provoke them lightly. This human is definitely no match for them. But I think I’ve guessed who he is." the captain said with a cold smile.

"Sir, who?" Lee asked, curious.

"Remember those people the Demon race sent in? Their goal was to hunt down one human."

"It’s him?" Lee caught on, then frowned. "But I heard the Demon race sent two Lesser Gods and over a dozen Half-Gods just to deal with that human. Isn’t that overkill?"

"Hmph, who cares. They’re all going to die anyway." the captain said coldly. He couldn’t be bothered to follow up. With a wave of his hand, the image in front of him vanished.

Lee wanted to ask something, but held back in the end.

He had heard that the dragon clan’s higher-ups were working with some outsiders to wipe out the powerhouses entering The Elder Dragon Wilds. Whether it was true or not, it wasn’t something he should get involved in.

...

[Ding, you killed a Stage 7, Level 5 Dragon monster and gained 14 EXP]

Out in the wilds, the prompts kept popping up as Johnnie went on a killing spree against the Dragon monsters.

He had already reached Stage 6, Level 8. To level up again would take 800 million EXP, so this little bit barely moved the bar.

But killing these Dragon monsters wasn’t for leveling himself—it was to upgrade the Dragon Patterned Sword.

Roar...

Waves of howls came from the wilds. Dragon monsters kept pouring in, endless.

Their strength was also rising. Stage 8 dragon monsters had already appeared.

Too bad they were still no match for Johnnie. Wherever he went, bodies covered the ground.

Over ten thousand Mechanical Golems followed behind, cleaning the field and collecting Dragon monster Magic Cores.

Nalorin Sylvia and Benz were summoned out as well.

They didn’t want to stay inside The Map of Heaven and Earth.

"Master, you really don’t need me to help?" Benz stared at the dragon monsters around them, itching to fight.

"Not for now." Johnnie refused at once. He was killing these dragon monsters to upgrade the Dragon Patterned Sword.

...

As Johnnie went deeper into the wilds, more dragon monsters came, and they were stronger too. Stage 9, Epic-level Land Dragons even showed up.

Land Dragons carried a trace of true dragon blood. They were powerful, but still couldn’t withstand Johnnie.

Time passed. A full day went by, and Johnnie had slaughtered over three hundred thousand dragon monsters.

At this pace, in two more days the Dragon Patterned Sword could advance again.

"Master, strong enemies are coming!" Nalorin Sylvia sensed something, looked into the distance, and her face grew serious.

On the horizon, several dark figures sped toward them.

Johnnie felt a few familiar auras. Demon race experts.

"Human! You killed my son. Today I will tear you to pieces!" an angry voice roared.

Whoosh!

Flames rose in the sky and swept down over Johnnie, turning the area into a sea of fire.

"Damn, another Domain!" Benz groaned. It was rare to meet a few strong enemies, but he couldn’t handle them at all. He hid behind Johnnie and Nalorin Sylvia without hesitation.

Vajra Indestructibility!

Johnnie moved, activated Vajra Indestructibility, and golden light flared around him, easily blocking the flames.

Nalorin Sylvia raised her hand. Ice and snow gathered around her, and she calmly stopped this flood of Heavenly Fire as well.

Up in the sky, a dozen figures appeared. They were all Demon race experts, the weakest at Half-God. Johnnie even knew a few of them: Altair, Weyldon, Blade King...

These were Half-Gods he had killed before. He didn’t expect them to come back so fast.

But now he had a way to end them for good—the Demon-Refining Pot could swallow and refine Divine Souls.

Johnnie ignored those men and fixed his eyes on the three leaders.

Two were Lesser Gods, and one was a Core God.

"Dragon race!" He stared at the Core God. He was a dragon, and his aura felt familiar.

Johnnie’s face turned serious. He was ready to trigger a heavenly tribulation at any moment.

Even with his growth, he still wasn’t a match for a Core God. The Eternal Wood Emperor had been badly hurt holding off the last heavenly tribulation and hadn’t recovered. To deal with these people, his only option was to call one down again.

"Human, join my Demon race and I’ll spare your life." one of them said calmly.

"Join the Demon race?"

Johnnie sneered. "You think you can handle me?"

"Lord Owen, he’s a Heaven’s chosen. Don’t waste time." Weyldon urged.

Johnnie had killed his son Jack. He had to wipe Johnnie out.

"Heaven’s chosen... no wonder your talent is so high." The dragon expert’s eyes gleamed, even more excited.

Johnnie frowned. That familiar aura grew stronger. Then it clicked. "It’s you!"

Owen—the dragon who had tried to seize his body in the Eight Trigrams Furnace.

"Only now you recognize me?" Owen said with a playful look. "Honestly, I almost hate to kill you. Your talent is exceptional."

"Hmph. You think you can kill me?" Johnnie shot back. Power surged from him as he prepared to trigger the heavenly tribulation.

Sensing his intent, Owen’s face shifted. "Form the array!" he barked.

At his command, the Demon race experts moved at once, surrounding Johnnie and the other two.

"Demon-Sealing Heaven-Locking Array!"

With a furious shout, a strange power spread over the area. Johnnie’s face changed. The power in his body was heavily suppressed, and the heavenly tribulation he was about to call vanished at once.

This formation could even suppress his strength.

"Hmph. Without your heavenly tribulation, let me see what else you’ve got." Owen sneered, about to strike.

But then his expression shifted.

"Who?" he barked, looking behind him.

Clip-clop...

Clear hoofbeats sounded. In the wilds, a holy figure appeared, riding a white unicorn.

Pitiless!

When Johnnie saw her, he sighed inside. Trouble never comes alone. He couldn’t even deal with Owen, and now another Core God had shown up.

And Pitiless was far stronger than Owen.

Johnnie didn’t want to get dragged into this. He took out the Celestial Mirror to escape.

Buzz!

Space power rippled, but he was still in place.

Can’t use the Celestial Mirror?

Johnnie’s face darkened. Was it this wild land, or the Demon-Sealing Heaven-Locking Array?

"Master, the Map of Heaven and Earth still works." Coco’s voice sounded.

Johnnie nodded, slightly relieved, and didn’t rush to leave.

Right then, killing intent surged around Pitiless, but her target wasn’t him—it was Owen.

"Owen, so you’re still alive." Pitiless said coldly. Her killing aura was chilling.

Several Demon race experts couldn’t help but step back.

Gulp.

Owen swallowed, but when he noticed something about Pitiless, he calmed down.

"Pitiless!" he cried. "You still haven’t passed your love tribulation!"

A hint of joy flashed in Owen’s eyes. His hostility faded, and he said with deep feeling."Phoebe, why do this to yourself? Give me a chance. I swear I’ll make it up to you."

Phoebe? Is that Pitiless’s real name? Johnnie was curious.

Pitiless frowned, disgust on her face. She raised her hand, and a biting sword light screamed forth.

Bang!

With a thunderous boom, Owen spat blood and was sent flying.

Just one strike, and he was already hurt.

At his peak, he was no weaker than Pitiless. But this body was one he had seized, and it didn’t match his power, so his strength was greatly limited.
