Only God
Chapter 509 - 438 Collective Subconscious
CHAPTER 509: CHAPTER 438 COLLECTIVE SUBCONSCIOUS
Fairies lived upon the Sea of Souls, building simplistic houses out of the mist beneath their feet and taming the rose serpents, leading a tranquil and easy life.
Unlike the mortals on the land, although fairies had a lifespan limit, they neither fell ill nor aged, thriving on the Sea of Souls and feeding on good thoughts just like the rose serpents.
Great Angel Schiller was very pleased with this creation.
However, his expectations for the fairies were not limited to mere survival.
"You must learn to go to the land above and into the hearts of people."
Schiller guided the race before him step by step.
King Sofia of the fairies accepted this guidance, and she instructed her people to follow Schiller into the souls of humans.
Under the protection and guidance of Great Angel Schiller, the first group of fairies embarked on their journey. They first landed in people’s dreams, became active within various dreams, and built pathways connecting one dream to another.
Unbeknownst to them, some mortals began to find themselves dreaming more easily than before, and in their dreams, there was always a group of mysterious beings with an ethereal charm.
The leader of this group was a six-winged Great Angel, only mentioned in myths, similar to Angel Solamus.
Rumors spread, and because of the presence of the Great Angel, people began to see these dreams as auspicious signs, and due to guilt by association, those fairies were also regarded as messengers related to the Divine.
It was said that if you encountered this group of fairies in a dream, your luck for the year would not be too bad, and you might even encounter many good omens.
Thus, the fairies became active in people’s dreams and gradually ventured deeper into their souls, feasting on the beautiful good thoughts found there.
In creating these spiritual beings, Schiller had made them feed on kindness, while evil was a poison endangering their lives. Due to this racial trait, fairies preferred the company of kind people, especially favoring the elderly and children among them.
As the fairies delved deeper into the soul, they gradually summarized some crude experiences and patterns. Noticing this, Schiller was reminded of Logos’s Pattern Garden, and thus, he began to guide these fairies in building their own Pattern Garden.
Countless places resembling libraries were established on the Sea of Souls, collectively referred to by the fairies as the "Spirit Book House," with the largest one overseen by Queen Sofia, named the Wisdom Great Library.
Schiller led the fairies in exploring the mysteries of the soul, and these mysteries were written down and gathered in the Wisdom Great Library. As the guardian, Sofia eagerly absorbed knowledge from every book.
"Prophet, I found in the books... sometimes when parents dream, their children also dream.
When parents have a vague premonition, something often happens to the children..."
Sofia sought guidance from the Great Angel.
As the progenitor of the fairies, she was born with a powerful curiosity.
Faced with Sofia’s query, Schiller too fell into contemplation.
Indeed, people often have a kind of telepathy or a feeling of hearts being aligned.
Generally, the closer the people are, the more likely it is.
What is this all about?
Could it be... that there exists some kind of connection between the souls of people, interconnected with each other?
This is not impossible, after all, people’s souls are merely a division from the spirit of God.
But...
What other mysteries are hidden in the souls gifted by God?
At this thought, Schiller grew somewhat excited, feeling as if he was gradually finding the key to a new era.
"Sofia, I cannot answer you yet."
Angel Schiller bowed his head toward the Fairy Queen and spoke thus.
The latter appeared somewhat astonished, and before she could even speak, Angel Schiller provided his reason.
"Because I do not know—I am not God."
Hearing this, Sofia retorted,
"So... does God know?"
Angel Schiller nodded slightly.
Sofia’s eyes slowly filled with longing,
"God... what kind of existence is that?"
...
Angel Schiller wished to understand the mysteries within the soul.
However, the Great Angel would not seek answers from God; on one hand, he had sufficient confidence to accomplish this on his own, and on the other, asking the Lord was a last resort, and the Lord might not directly reveal the answer.
The best method, besides asking God, was to seek another being who frequently dealt with souls.
Angel Schiller could only think of Nakbet, the Monarch of the Netherworld.
Given the nature of death, that Divine being was often unfavorable among mortals. Still, for the countless mortals on Earth who worshipped the Gods, Nakbet remained an entity they inevitably had to face.
Ironically, some people, despite a lifetime of devotion, might not meet the Divine they worshipped after death, yet they were certain to meet Nakbet, the one they were least willing to face.
Atop the palace in the Netherworld, Nakbet sat on the throne, his brow furrowed in deep thought.
"You ask me... why souls connect...
Honestly, I have noticed this phenomenon, but I do not fully understand its principles."
Nakbet provided his answer.
A look of disappointment crossed Angel Schiller’s face.
"However... perhaps my Queen understands, for She has studied souls for some time."
Saying so, Nakbet stood from the throne and strode back into the sleeping chamber, fetching his Queen for the Great Angel Schiller.
She was a Divine being clad in a deep purple thick sleeping robe, known to mortals as Esroa, the Divine of the Sleeping Star.
Esroa was displeased with her husband for disturbing her sleep, yet even so, she remained courteous to the visitor. Upon hearing that Angel Schiller had come for the mysteries of the soul, this drowsy-eyed Divine showed a rare flicker of excitement.
The Queen of the Netherworld began to speak incessantly about her views on the soul. Millennia had allowed her to accumulate much knowledge, and one thing she mentioned surprised Angel Schiller greatly.
"Subconscious... collective subconscious?"
Esroa revealed that she had once inadvertently glimpsed into the depths of people’s souls, uncovering pathways that connected them, a region known as the collective subconscious.
It was a place sedimented in the deepest recesses of people’s minds.
"Not only that... I once inadvertently delved deep into someone’s dream. I ventured so deep, that in the furthest depths... I vaguely beheld... a temple."
Esroa struggled to describe the sight,
"There it was... wondrous, magnificent, disordered, chaotic, and yet massive and majestic. It was so ethereal that it seemed as though it didn’t exist at all, to the extent that I now doubt whether it was an illusion."
