Only You: The Billionaire's Obsession
Chapter 138: Chi Ye’s Fury
CHAPTER 138: CHAPTER 138: CHI YE’S FURY
Mo Qiyan remained silent.
Then...
This is what he thought, that he would find a place where no one was around, end his life, and take the other self with him, all returning to dust.
He always knew that the land of Suri would not treat Gu Jiayin kindly. When he was capable, he could protect her, but now his fate was like dust on the road, entirely at the mercy of heaven.
So, he wanted to seize every moment of clarity to help her escape from Suri.
Each time he fell asleep and then struggled to defeat the other self and wake up, his greatest purpose was this.
This was the difference between Ah Yan and Prince Qiyan. Ah Yan understood her yearning for freedom; although he loved her, he didn’t want to imprison her and constantly thought of helping her leave Suri, whereas Prince Qiyan bluntly wanted to possess her, to imprison her by his side for eternity.
Many times, Ah Yan would ponder that the other self’s almost perverse possessiveness must be the intense reluctance deep in his soul regarding Gu Jiayin, giving rise to his inner demon.
Gu Jiayin could not be unaware of Mo Qiyan’s thoughts. He had expressed this decision to destroy together more than once. He was too afraid, afraid the other self would do something to harm her because of intense possessiveness.
She raised her voice excitedly, "Ah Yan, I won’t allow you to do that!"
Mo Qiyan still smiled, eyes filled with too much desolation and helplessness, "Jiayin, for me, this is the best destination. If one day, I can never wake up again, letting him completely dominate this body, how would that be any different from being dead?"
"Ah Yan..."
"Jiayin, he has completely refused treatment now, wanting to completely devour me and entirely be himself. He will stop at nothing to have you, to imprison you forever by his side. I’m afraid you will never be happy again."
He smiled sadly, "You know, I love you deeply, but I don’t need to have you. I want you to be happy, Jiayin."
Gu Jiayin wept again, "But even so, I don’t want to see you make that choice. Give me time, let me find the Blood Tears Jade, and I will return to Suri to stay with you for the treatment."
Mo Qiyan sighed, "The Blood Tears Jade has been lost for so many years, it’s not so easy to find. You have buried seven years of youth for this, and I don’t want to see you tortured further by this. There are many capable people searching for the Blood Tears Jade for the Imperial Family, it’s not necessarily only you."
Yes, it indeed was not necessarily Gu Jiayin. During the seven years she accepted training, the Imperial Family never ceased searching for the Blood Tears Jade. Many agents more capable than her exist.
The Emperor of Suri insisted on training her and then sent her back to Licheng City purely from a retaliatory mindset.
Mo Qiyan continued, "So, since you’ve left Suri, don’t go back. As for your mother, I’ll figure something out."
There is a kind of love in the world called letting go.
Ah Yan’s love is utterly true, sincere, deep, and profound.
Gu Jiayin’s tears surged more fiercely, "Ah Yan, even if I’m imprisoned in Suri for eternity, I don’t want you to make such a choice. Though he frightens and burdens me, he is also you. No matter if it’s you or him, I have feelings. I need to feel that you both are still in this world, do you understand?"
Suddenly, Mo Qiyan had a severe headache, the other self was stirring again. He pressed his temples forcefully, "Alright, I won’t do that, don’t cry, okay?"
Gu Jiayin finally managed a faint smile, "Promise me, this time be strong, don’t fall into sleep so easily. I will use every effort to find the Blood Tears Jade, return to Suri, and help you cure your illness."
Then, with memories and blessings for him, she left with her mother to find a piece of land to live peacefully and happily.
"Okay." Mo Qiyan gritted his teeth and held fast, "I will fight him to the end."
Defeating himself would be his victory.
...
The night was deep, but Gu Jiayin tossed and turned, unable to sleep.
After a long separation, reuniting with Ah Yan once again stirred the emotions in her heart, making the quest for the Blood Tears Jade even more urgent.
She eagerly awaited contact from Gu Yachen.
Half asleep and half awake, dawn came.
She went to work as usual, but having suddenly moved away from Shuiyunjian, without Jiajia and Sister Li, and without Sheng Qianchi’s pestering, life felt unexpectedly void.
After work, she took a cab to Lu Xiya’s place. She was temporarily disinterested in using the luxury house and car gifted by Sheng Qianchi.
Along the way, she thought about Mo Qiyan’s situation and paid little attention to where the taxi was heading. When she finally came to her senses, she realized the car was not heading towards Lu Xiya’s residence, but was going to the outskirts.
The road on the outskirts was wide and smooth, the trees on both sides cast shades, and the chirping birds accompanied the fragrance of soil, grass, and wildflowers, which flowed into the car with the breeze.
The driver was very quiet, and the ride was smooth.
Gu Jiayin calmly observed the surroundings, "Who are you, and where do you want to take me?"
The driver respectfully said, "Miss Gu, Mr. Chi from my house wants to meet you."
The only Mr. Chi she knew was Chi Ye.
Before she could ask more, the driver pointed forward, "Miss Gu, we’re here. Mr. Chi is waiting for you there."
Without much thought, Gu Jiayin opened the door and got out. The taxi driver quickly turned the car around and sped away.
A dozen meters ahead, Chi Ye was alone, leaning against the car door, smoking.
The evening sunlight pulled his shadow long, cigarette smoke curling up gently like clouds.
A layer of icy aura wrapped around him.
Gu Jiayin stood still, squinting slightly. She and Chi Ye had nothing to do with each other, so why did he bring her here to see him?
The evening breeze was cool, lifting her long hair and white shirt, and the sky’s white clouds were stretched into strands by the wind.
Chi Ye neither looked at her nor spoke, smoking indifferently.
Time slipped by in silence, lasting about a minute.
Gu Jiayin amusingly raised her chin and lazily questioned, "Chi Ye, did you have someone pretend to be a taxi driver to trick me here just to let me watch you smoke?"
She chuckled lightly, "Sorry, I really can’t appreciate that."
Chi Ye didn’t reply immediately but took a deep drag of his cigarette, and only when the flickering flame reached the butt did he throw it away and stomp it out forcefully.
Puffing out clouds of smoke.
He turned and looked askance, his narrow peach-blossom eyes, the corners glowing coldly.
He clearly wasn’t friendly.
Gu Jiayin inexplicably squinted, watching his frosty demeanor, "If you have something to say, just say it. I don’t have time to play brooding with you."
Chi Ye finally stood up straight and approached her step by step, finally stopping right in front of her, tucking one hand in his trouser pocket, and looking down at her.
Up close, Gu Jiayin noticed his eyes and brows were cold as if covered with frost, the depths of his eyes brimming with a dangerous aura.
His thin lips opened and closed, releasing icy words, each seemingly chewed deliberately, "What did you say to her?"
