"Hmm, but I’ll arrange for Assistant Li to stay here with you in a bit. If there’s anything you need, just reach out to him, or you can call me if anything elsees up."
He could skip the meeting, but he couldn’t ignore matters concerning Ji Yu.
Ji Yu had no unreasonable intentions; after all, Gu Qixiao had business today, and she was just tagging along to take a look.
Watching Gu Qixiao head into the conference room, Ji Yuzily leaned back on a nearby chair.
Truthfully, there wasn’t much in Gu Qixiao’s office. The only thing that stood out was probably the photo on the desk.
"This was taken when you and President Gu went out together some time ago."
It was clear that the two of them were genuinely happy in the photo.
But no matter how hard she tried, Ji Yu just couldn’t recall any of it.
She stared wistfully at the picture, only wishing she could recover the memories of the past soon. It wasn’t about dwelling on bygone days but about finding something that belonged to them.
"Assistant Li, have I ever had a bad temper before?"
"I wouldn’t say you had a bad temper, but your first encounter with President Gu was rather dramatic, so the two of you were at odds for quite some time," Assistant Li said, fully aware of their history and well-qualified toment on it.
Reflecting on the past brought a smile to his face.
"Miss Ji, there was a period when you and President Gu practically couldn’t stand each other. Of course, President Gu liked you; he just never admitted it."
Ji Yu was a bit surprised; these were things Gu Qixiao had never mentioned before.
Maybe he thought saying it aloud would be embarrassing.
So he simply opted to skip over it.
Ji Yu heard some stories from Assistant Li that Gu Qixiao had kept hidden, and they were quite amusing.
"Miss Ji, would you like something to drink? I’ll go get you a ss of water."
She was indeed feeling a bit thirsty.
After Assistant Li stepped out, Ji Yu was nning to explore and see if anything else would jog her memory, but before she could even move, a figure suddenly appeared at the doorway.
"Who are you?"
The visitor clearly hadn’t expected Ji Yu to be there and seemed to have never seen her before.
"I’m Ji Yu," she replied with a simple self-introduction.
Anyone familiar with Gu Qixiao would know who Ji Yu was, so she assumed the person in front of her would as well.
To her surprise, the individual didn’t leave but instead stared at Ji Yu with a dark expression.
"I don’t care who you are. You being here is wrong. Don’t you know that this office is off-limits to others?"
Her tone was tough andmanding.
Ji Yu raised an eyebrow, obviously curious about this uninvited guest. "And you are?"
"I’m Xiao’s future secretary. Got a problem with that?"
Xiao?
What an interesting nickname.
Clearly, Ji Yu was curious about what was on this person’s mind and what her intentions were.
"You must have ulterior motives, woman. You’d better leave now. If you go, I’ll pretend I didn’t see anything. Otherwise, you’ll regret itter."
She delivered this warning with an air of superiority.
It was as though she was condescendingly doing Ji Yu a favor.
Faced with such a ridiculous situation, Ji Yu could only feel exasperated.
"So what you mean is, I should be thanking you?" Ji Yu chuckled at this ludicrous im, as if it were the funniest joke she’d heard. After all, they’d never even met before.
Didn’t she ever stop to think about why Ji Yu was allowed to be here in the first ce?
"Of course, you should thank me. Not just anyone is allowed in Xiao’s office."
The woman spoke with the confidence of someone in the know.
"Then you should know that your Xiao already has someone by his side, and that someone isn’t you."
"You’re lying." Her reaction was fiery, and it was clear she was enraged by the statement.
Ji Yu smiled as she looked at the girl in front of her, clearly unbothered by the scene unfolding.
This girl was undeniably amusing. Not hesitating for a second, she tried to physically drag Ji Yu out.
"I’m pregnant. If youy a hand on me and something happens, you’ll be in serious trouble. Honestly, I came here looking for your Xiao because he needs to take responsibility. I didn’t expect him to have such a setup in hispany, though."
As she spoke, Ji Yu feigned a pitiful look.
The girl froze in shock. "What did you say?"
She seemed unable toprehend what she was hearing, convinced Ji Yu must be joking.
"I said, this situation I’m in isn’t easy. If you have something to say, spit it out. Because when I meet your Xiao, he might very well end up with a wife."
The young girl’s gaze locked onto Ji Yu’s stomach, as if trying to figure out what was going on. How had a child appeared without her knowing?
"Impossible. There’s no way Xiao would do something like this. You must be ndering him, and I don’t believe you."
"If you don’t believe me, why don’t you ask him in a bit?" Ji Yu found the whole thing hugely entertaining and decided to continue teasing the girl while sitting in her chair.
"I haven’t heard about anything like this, so it can’t be true," the girl dered aggressively.
Ji Yu wasn’t surprised by this reaction.
But since things had already escted to this point, Ji Yu didn’t feel the need to say much more. "You must know what you’re doing. It’s clear you want him, but I’ve already got his child. If you keep this up, you’ll just end up being the third wheel."
When Ji Yu uttered those words, the girl’s face instantly turned pale. She clearly hadn’t imagined that she’d bebeled as a homewrecker.
Her heart ached, but she was at a loss for words. Perhaps the presence of the child was too much of a blow; even if she wanted to argue, she couldn’t.
"There, I just helped you see who he really is. Honestly, there’s no need to overthink this. Just let it go."
Ji Yu spoke with an air of calm kindness.
But the girl felt that Ji Yu was mocking her. She had already set her sights firmly on Gu Qixiao, and now, giving up because of this seemed like an enormous defeat.
"I don’t believe you. Stop using such nonsense to deceive me. I don’t trust a word you say. If you keep this up, I’ll call the police."
