CHAPTER 123: RICK’S HORROR

"How did it go?" While Lucy asked Godfrey, Snow perked his ears.

"It was unclassified. The headmaster said the gauge malfunctioned," Godfrey replied, and Lucy frowned.

"I don’t understand. What do you mean by unclassified? The gauge couldn’t ascertain your tier?" she said.

"Something like that," Godfrey replied, stunning Lucy.

’What?!’ Snow was shocked speechless.

What in the world did Godfrey mean by the gauge couldn’t ascertain his tier? Why did this feel like the first time when Godfrey’s tier was kept a secret?

It had to be because he was a humanoid summoner, but this revelation made Snow unable to judge between Isolde and Godfrey who was the greater talent. She didn’t even look surprised at what Godfrey was saying.

A few hours later, during break, Damien stood on the rooftop answering a phone call, while Vin and Tyla looked over the school from their vantage point, overseeing the students in the fields and buildings.

"I’m afraid we would not be able to go through with the plan. The Pendragons have already offered the woman a place, but she remained all this while because the owner of the place did her a favour. We did her a favour by buying that place and making the owner send her off," the speaker on the other side of the phone said regretfully.

"What?!" Damien’s face hardened. "Why didn’t you make a proper investigation before buying that land?!"

"We had no idea the woman had any dealings with the Pendragons. She personally told the owner of the land, and that’s how we knew."

Damien cut the call as he clenched his teeth. To think he purchased that land at a high price just for it to end up going down the drain.

"Well, the plan didn’t work. Shadow Club has to go." Vin massaged his shoulder as he stared at the furious Damien.

Damien took off his glasses. "Since we can’t use them anymore, disposing them and re-establishing the prestige of Nexus Club is the only path left."

"I say we deal with their king, and the rest will scatter. It was only when Godfrey beat Jon that Nexus Club lost." Vin sat on the floor, running his fingers through the bangs that covered his eyes.

Tyla chuckled. "I can’t believe we’ve come down to this. Fighting with a sophomore is insulting. Can’t we just frame him with drugs and have him expelled, or just paint a scene of him feeding one of his summons? That would be enough to put him out. I mean, everyone fears humanoid summons, they can’t even doubt it, even if it’s false."

The boys weren’t even shocked at what Tyla said, as she was the one who introduced them to underground fights and betting.

Tyla had cousins who ran such shady businesses, and due to her involvement, their dark tactics weren’t a foreign concept to her. She looked so beautiful and innocently charming. Coupled with her bad girl side, both boys were head over heels, fighting to win her heart.

"So... what do you think of the plan?" Tyla smiled, her face brightening in a captivating glow, a smile that made her the top girl with many followers in Manhattan High.

"A bummer we won’t be punching his face in. I’ll take the second," Vin replied.

"Same," Damien said.

"The target will be Lucy. It will be more believable that way. I just—!" Tyla stopped halfway as the door behind them opened, revealing the golden-haired sophomore they were just plotting against.

Godfrey stood there with disbelief written all over his face. Pain flickered through his eyes. He couldn’t believe what he had been hearing while standing behind the door.

The reason he came was because he felt like speaking with Tyla over what happened concerning the girl that was beaten. He also wanted to use the opportunity to clear the air between him and these seniors, but to think this was what they were plotting.

Godfrey walked onto the rooftop, shutting the door behind him as golden plates of armour covered his arms and feet. The pain in his eyes had turned to anger.

"The only reason I won’t kill any of you right now is because we are in the school vicinity."

"Oh? So there’s a killer in there." Vin scoffed. Damien raised an eyebrow, while Tyla’s eyes widened in an exaggerated manner.

"Oh my!" She covered her lips.

Godfrey’s sclera turned black, pushing his strength from 10.7 to 11.7!

With a step, he grabbed Tyla’s neck, slowly tightening his fingers as the claws of the gauntlet sank into her skin.

"You’re dead!" Vin roared, launching a punch that sent flames toward Godfrey, who swiftly threw Tyla, already bleeding from her mouth, aside.

He moved through the flames in a blur, and his fist sent Vin into the wall. Cracks spread out as the entire building shook, fractures spreading rapidly.

Students inside the building were shocked, thinking there was an earthquake.

Godfrey turned to Damien, whose kick was already close.

’How?!’ Damien’s eyes widened as Godfrey evaded the kick, throwing a punch that snapped his femur before slamming him to the ground with an axe kick.

Cracks spread throughout the rooftop as debris fell into the staircase below. Students began to panic.

Tyla stretched her hand, and a circle of darkness appeared beneath Godfrey, forcing him to sink into it until he was gone.

In the next moment, a golden gauntleted arm emerged from the darkness. Then came his entire body, fully covered in golden armour.

Standing there fully clad in that heavy armour, Godfrey seemed more like a summon than a human to Tyla.

Before her eyes, Godfrey manifested a longsword and swung it at a speed she couldn’t follow. In the next moment, a neat diagonal slash appeared on her face, blood trickling down.

Tyla clutched her face, unleashing a shrill scream.

"T... this is impossible," Vin stuttered weakly as he saw Damien’s unconscious state. He couldn’t move his body. Just one blow from a sophomore, and his body was paralysed.

Not even Damien’s crimson bones could do a thing against Godfrey’s overwhelming strength.

His eyes narrowed as he saw Godfrey, fully covered in armour, approach him with heavy metallic steps.

He launched a swift punch. Vin shut his eyes but didn’t feel any pain, prompting him to open them. His breath almost left him when he saw the hole right next to him that went through the other side of the building!

Was this Godfrey informing him he wasn’t using his full strength?! How did Godfrey get this strong?!

"I can easily punch a hole through that head of yours. Try me once more, and I’ll let the whole school know what I did to you three. Your prestige is at my mercy."

As Godfrey descended, he saw Rick and other students heading up.

"Has the Shadow King come to beg?" One of them crackled.

Rick even patted his shoulder. "I’ll see you in the ring," he smiled, thinking Godfrey had agreed to fight for them.

That smile turned into horror when he saw Damien, Tyla, and Vin. His face went pale.

"It can’t be that..." Rick looked back at the door. "... It was him."
