CHAPTER 50: HE HAS AN ARMY

Godfrey’s calm expression made Isaac’s unease wither, and slowly he too became calm. But then, Godfrey’s face shifted into concern.

"This isn’t what I expected."

That single sentence almost stopped Isaac’s heart. On the other hand, Godfrey was referring to the trait of the dungeon he had entered. This kind of dungeon was usually a blue gate or red gate dungeon, both dangerous, with the red being even more horrifying, but there was one difference: both of those had exits. The green didn’t.

This particular trait was known as Defend the Fort, where one had to protect their fort from an endless swarm of monsters. Once the fort was lost, it meant certain death, and the only way to clear the dungeon was by killing the dungeon boss.

And now, the fort’s main wall and courtyard had already fallen. Everyone was trapped in the final safe place, the cathedral-like hall.

Looking around, Godfrey noticed thick roots winding across the walls, completely blocking the windows and the massive entrance door. It was obvious that one of the summons here was responsible for this.

Joana, the elder of the two sisters, suddenly realized something after scrutinizing Godfrey.

"He’s definitely younger than me. The other one is even more agitated... what are they doing here?" she muttered to herself, only for her younger sister, Celine, to tug gently at her long-sleeved top, gaining her attention.

"What is it?" Joana asked softly.

Celine pointed at Godfrey, her eyes glimmering faintly with a strange light.

"He has an army. He can help us."

Her once distraught tone now carried a spark of hope and relief, but Joana was perplexed. ’An army?’

What was that supposed to mean? Was there an army outside, about to enter and rescue them?

She knew Celine could see glimpses of the future, brief flashes of how things ended, like snapshots of the final scene. Her ability allowed her to see the image of the day’s outcome the moment she woke up. That was how she had known that revealing her elder sister’s summon would lead to everyone’s death, and for that reason, Joana had kept silent.

"Quit looking around like can you do a thing. I have my hands full with these girls, I can’t bother with two morons," Scar spat, his tone sharp with exhaustion.

Godfrey squinted, choosing to ignore the man’s harsh tone. They must have been on edge for a long time.

"We can be of help. Isaac is a peak elite-tier summoner, and I’m a 5.5 high-tier summoner."

Revealing their tiers should have given the group a sense of hope, or so Godfrey thought.

His confidence fell like a stack of cards when the twins began chuckling and the woman burst into laughter, her mockery echoing through the hall.

"You call that help?" she scowled. "I have a 5.8 summon, the boys here both have 5.4 summons each, and the boss has a 6.0 summon. You think your little help will do what all of us couldn’t?"

’I can’t be stranded here because of people too frightened to act. Besides, I need that core to push Mountain to 5.0.’

With that thought, two diagrams flared before him, and Ballista emerged alongside Mountain. Both swiftly activated Black-Out, their mana rising sharply, so intense that even the summons of the guild party turned their wary gazes toward the knights.

"Are those golems? They don’t look like ordinary ones, but even then, you, an inexperienced teenager can’t—!"

"Silence."

A calm yet deep and thunderous voice came from Mountain, who transformed his shield into Achilles Shield and slammed it into the stone floor, cracking it.

Shock swept through the hall. The woman’s eyes widened to their limit, the twins’ lackadaisical grins vanished, and Scar’s frown deepened. The girls were frozen, stunned to hear Mountain speak, while Isaac’s eyes almost bulged from his skull.

He watched as Mountain gave everyone an intimidating look, his 5.8-tier aura pressing down like a wave, making the guild summons extremely apprehensive. Ballista didn’t even bother moving, he simply stood there, emanating quiet dominance.

Mountain had grown from 4.6 to 4.8 after countless battles, but he, Ballista now reached 6.5 in his Black-Out State. Raising his arm, he summoned twenty 4.5 Bow Knights.

The lines on Scar’s forehead deepened at the sight of twenty seven-foot-tall, heavily armoured knights with massive bows, filing into the cathedral with perfect discipline.

The shock only multiplied when Mountain went further, summoning twenty Sword and Shield Knights, their massive armoured bodies carrying great oval shields and longswords.

In the blink of an eye, the spacious hall felt crammed with an assembly of gleaming golden knights, an army fit for a lord.

Joana looked at her sister in disbelief, finally realizing what she had meant earlier. She swiftly rose to her feet.

"Please wait!" she called out to Godfrey, who was already about to march toward the door.

Godfrey turned toward her.

"I can boost summons," she said.

A glowing diagram appeared beside her, and from it emerged a three-foot-tall, two-tailed golden fox. The moment it appeared, all of Godfrey’s summons surged with newfound power.

Mountain rose from 5.8 to 6.0. Ballista from 6.5 to 6.7. The same surge spread through every knight he had summoned.

"You had such a summon and didn’t help us when we were here, all because you didn’t know where to step in? You selfish little brat!" the woman with the Dragon Snake spat furiously.

"No, no, no," Joana shook her head quickly. "My sister Celine saw that even with my help, we’d all die and telling you about it would have surely led to that end. That’s the only reason."

"You should have still informed us rather than let us sit here hopelessly! And you!" she turned her glare to Celine. "You trust your weak sister over us?!"

Celine shrank behind Joana, and the woman scoffed.

"Stop... you might make the little midget cry." One of the twins mocked while the other chuckled as they both stood.

"Enhance our summons," Scar commanded with a heavy tone, patting his beast as it rose to its full height.

Isaac frowned at how the sisters were treated. It wasn’t as if the girls had known this was a green gate dungeon.

Godfrey watched everything from the corner of his eyes without a change in expression. Then he noticed Scar’s gaze shift toward him.

"Stand back," Scar said. "You can’t open the door with those roots in the way. Trust me when I say you can’t break them, so stay back and let me remove it."

Mountain tilted his head once, glancing at Scar through his helm slit... then suddenly charged straight toward the huge double doors.
