Chapter 224: Sword Slash (Request for Subscription)
Ignoring Shangxing who was kneeling and desperately guiding Garbage, Pei Yan turned and once again plunged into the battlefield. From Garbage's previous performance, he really couldn't understand what help it would bring to the battle having been sent, in his opinion, Garbage's combat power wasn't any stronger than his own modified mechanical tiger.
As he charged left and right, wreaking havoc, the battlefield once again changed. The already overcrowded outskirts suddenly stirred, and from a distance, everyone in Divine Desire parted to make way for a team that charged straight into the field.
"Devouring Demon!" Seeing this team, Pei Yan felt a stabbing pain in his left eye. Sure enough! Divine Desire and the people who attacked the Daoist Realm plane that night had a connection!
"Don't touch them, leave it to me!" Pei Yan's voice was amplified across the entire battlefield through speakers. Simultaneously, special forces and investigation personnel received orders to avoid engaging with the newly arrived weirder ones; there would be arrangements from above.
After notifying his colleagues, Pei Yan charged into the Devouring Demons crowd. Compared to the previous strenuous battle, this time he was like a tiger entering a flock of sheep. Surrounded by Devouring Demons, he didn't need to worry about accidentally injuring allies. The metal storm around him was fully unleashed, pouring out thousands of bullets.
The Devouring Demons' robust Defense Array was riddled by bullets enveloped in the essence of the origin. It couldn't support their bodies for long before they collapsed shakily with a wail, black smoke breaking out and burrowing into Pei Yan's body.
Watching the mechanical abilities wielder wreak havoc on the field, recklessly harvesting the lives of the Devouring Demons, Zhao Liben revealed a cruel smile. This Pei Yan truly was heedless; he would regret soon when he struggled with the Devouring Demon soul within and was immobilized. That would be the moment Zhao acted to capture him. Even if the Secret Prison mission failed, he would fulfill one of the organization's tasks, making it worthwhile!
"Ugh!!!"
Just as he was thinking this, Pei Yan let out a groan, gazing at the black smoke surging into his body. Zhao Liben sneered, sarcastically, "Is it working? You'd better hold on and not turn into a zombie; otherwise, you'll make things difficult for me."
However, it seemed the heavens were set against him today. Zhao Liben's smile didn't last long. After Pei Yan let out that ambiguous groan, he exhaled deeply and, in an exceedingly satisfied tone, exclaimed, "Comfortable! Refreshing!!"
Pei Yan was indeed soaring on cloud nine. The opposition seemed to be sending him a big gift; he almost fell in love with these Devouring Demons. The black smoke that devoured human souls entered his body and was swiftly absorbed and assimilated by his own essence, not only replenishing his depleted essence but greatly augmenting it. This expansion of essence felt heavenly to Pei Yan.
"Is there more? Bring it on!" Pei Yan continued to chase the fleeing Devouring Demons, tauntingly looking out of the field.
Zhao Liben could no longer control his temper. He had planned to use this trump card to break through the investigation headquarters' defenses, but who would've thought it would be like a mud bull entering the sea without a ripple? Thinking of this, he looked up at the dim sky and cursed, "Wang Xishu! Liang Guangsheng, those two bastards, what are they doing taking so long to come in and help? Could they have noticed something wrong and fled first? Dammit, if Liang Guangsheng were here, it wouldn't be this brat's turn to act rampant!"
"Something must have gone wrong outside! They wouldn't dare abandon us and escape alone!" Du Guangyuan slowly took off his shirt and turned to Wang Yiyi, who had remained silent in the crowd since the mission began, saying, "Wang Girl, go out now and see what's happening outside. If something unexpected indeed occurs, swap Guangsheng in! His abilities can be better harnessed here!"
Without a word, Wang Yiyi's figure flickered and flew toward the sky!
"Trying to escape! It's not that easy!" At the Secret Prison, Director Wei, who had been monitoring the battlefield's situation, leaped out to intercept.
"Your opponent is me! Wen Jiu!" Zhao Liben shouted, flying up agilely with his large belly, and his long sword slashed down with a swiftness like a rainbow piercing the sky.
"Extermination!" Facing Zhao Liben's aggressive approach, Director Wei dared not confront the blade directly. He sidestepped to dodge the slash, flicked his wrist, and a thick rope appeared out of thin air over Zhao Liben's neck. Before he could react, the rope tightened and lifted him into the air.
Zhao Liben felt breathless, swiping his broadsword upward to cut the long rope, causing him to land on the ground, clutching the strangulation mark on his neck, glaring at Director Wei with bloodshot eyes, and fiercely shouting, "Who are you!"
At this moment, Director Wei also landed. Zhao Liben's blade didn't hit him, but where it passed, it left death and injury to those who couldn't dodge in time. This wasn't all; when the broadsword cleaved down, it stirred a mist, carrying a strong scent of wine. Before the mist could spread, the sparks ignited by the blade striking the ground set it ablaze, "Bang!" In the resounding explosion, a fire burst behind Director Wei.
"I am Wei Tianhe, the director of the Secret Prison's First Prison." Saying this, Wei Tianhe glanced back at the long crack left by the slash and then looked at Zhao Liben, saying, "Zhao Liben? Don't tell me your power is Guan Yu?"
"You're quite perceptive! That's right!" Zhao Liben sneered repeatedly, swinging his broadsword as the image of Lord Guan—nine feet tall, with a long beard the length of two feet, and a face like a red date—flashed behind him and entered his body. His hefty figure rapidly transformed, the rolling fat disappearing to become solid muscle, an imposing presence naturally emanating, intimidating the entire scene.
"Oh my god, Wang Shenpo, look at him, the real deal, then look at you?" Pei Yan retreated next to Wang Wenze, teasing while looking at the ever-growing Zhao Liben breathlessly.
"I just borrowed Guan Yu's form; he is the true hero and ghost-weary Guan Yu himself. Alas! Heaven is unjust! Such a person had to endow Guan Yu's power onto a villain like this, I wonder if Lord Guan knew, would he come back to life out of rage and cleave him?" Wang Wenze lamented, shaking his head with both envy and sadness as he looked at Zhao Liben.
While the two were conversing, a sudden wail burst forth in the field. Pei Yan followed the sound and saw an old man hovering in the sky with his bare upper body, arms extended, and countless red threads rising from the ground and piercing into his body.
Upon closer inspection, those red threads were actually human blood. The fighters from the Investigation Bureau on the scene, inevitably injured in battle, found their wounds no longer healing but continuously seeping blood, forming threads flying towards the old man.
No matter who the old man was, Pei Yan raised his hand, ready to blast him first, but before his cannon could form, a large dog surged up and pounced on the old man, biting at his head.
Uh... chewing and licking together?
