"You have only learned our language but not our etiquette—storming into someone else's home without even announcing your name, is this the etiquette of your Magic Realm?" Mei Simiao, transformed into a child, stepped over the scorched ground, a red ribbon hanging behind him.
Beneath the calm exterior of Mei Simiao in this state lay a turbulent heart. His abilities were as rare and extraordinary as Shangxing's Nezha, a celestial soldier among the legendary figures. However, he had taken it further than Shangxing, this power granting him formidable strength while also subjecting him to immense pain.
Every time he used his abilities, his body and age underwent significant changes. These transformations were excruciating both physically and mentally. As his awakening level increased, he became more and more aligned with this mythical deity. Periodically, he was forced into the form of a child and endured endless torment. Though after a long period of adaptation, he had grown accustomed to this change and learned to suppress his emotions, once he entered combat mode, he could no longer hide the murderous aura in his chest.
"Is this really necessary?" Sarah Witch gently massaged her slightly sore wrist and nonchalantly asked.
"Absolutely necessary, since you've traveled so far, out of courtesy, I will collect your corpse and carve your name on your tombstone."
Having heard Mei Simiao's words, Yao Xuefang, standing beside him, sneered sarcastically, "Cemeteries are so expensive these days, how is she worthy? Putting her ashes in a decent-looking urn is already good enough."
Facing the other party's ridicule, Sarah raised a hand to stop the bald, angry middle-aged man beside her and smiled, "My name is Sarah, and this is my companion, Liam. As for your names, I won't ask—unlike you, we're not interested in remembering the names of the dead."
Before her voice faded, Liam tore off his robe to reveal his strong muscles, letting out a long howl to the sky. His eyes turned blood-red, his hands transformed into beastly claws, his cheeks bulged as he bared his fangs, and he made a sudden leap, vanishing from the spot.
In the blink of an eye, carried by the gust of wind, he appeared in front of Yao Xuefang, claws raised high, swinging fiercely along her fair neck.
Meanwhile, over ten beams of lightning followed him closely, sealing off all escape routes around Yao Xuefang. Seeing his companion in trouble, Mei Simiao did not intend to help. With a quiet murmur, a long spear appeared in his hand, and he dashed toward Sarah.
The moment his figure moved, a series of crisp cracking sounds echoed behind him. Liam frowned, looking at the woman in front of him, torn apart into countless fragments by his claws and thunder, scattering on the ground. A puppet? It was crafted so exquisitely, just like a real person. This was something unprecedented in his experience.
With a puzzled expression, Liam looked up at the woman who should have met her death under his grasp. Instead, she was already dozens of meters away, staring coldly at him.
"Yanshi!" Yao Xuefang whispered in a barely audible voice, then raised her right hand, reaching toward Liam with a twist, declaring, "Lu Ban Lock!"
A momentary lapse in focus left Liam feeling his body stiffen. Looking down, the puppet fragments he had broken down had rearranged themselves repeatedly, swiftly forming a strange wooden lock that tightly bound his feet and legs together.
Realizing the unfavorable situation, Liam roared, channeling all his strength to break free. However, to his surprise, the seemingly thin wooden pieces were as strong as steel, fitting snugly with each other, tightly encasing layer by layer. After restraining his legs, they began to creep upwards along his waist. Before long, the lock had firmly bound most of his body.
Compared to his predicament, his companion Sarah seemed quite at ease. She watched with great interest the weapon in the hands of her enemy, a flaming trident with a crimson shaft and a pennant ablaze with purple flames. This weapon, wielded effortlessly by the boastful child, easily broke through her numerous Magic Defense Arrays, sparking her curiosity. Were it not for her magical probe revealing it as an internally condensed artifact, she might have already coveted it with murderous intent.
Despite this, she was astounded by the power of this weapon. While dodging the enemy's fierce assault, she silently prepared a lethal move.
At this moment, Mei Simiao also sensed something amiss. The witch seemed battered, forced by him to dodge here and there, but her steps were steady, advancing and retreating in order. With each retreat, a bit of powder scattered from her body. By the time he realized and tried to leap away to observe the situation, it was too late.
A circular Magic Array had been silently set up during Sarah's run and sprinkle, unnoticed. Just as Mei Simiao attempted to dash, the array beneath him lit up, causing countless water snakes to leap up, wrapping around his waist and dragging him down forcefully.
With several splashes and gulps, Mei Simiao was hauled into a deep sea by the water snakes. Looking up, he saw the surface of the water still showed the space he had previously occupied. The solid ground, once the Magic Array appeared, had opened like a Teleportation Gate, cutting him off from his original space.
With a mighty shake, Mei Simiao shattered the water snakes holding him. Just as he was about to leap out of the water, there was another splash. Turning to look, the witch had also plunged into the water. Compared to his clumsy dog-paddle-like strokes upwards, she seemed much more graceful and relaxed. Wrapped in a bubble of air, Sarah moved unimpeded, as if walking on land, with the water naturally parting before her.
Determined to trap her enemy, Sarah would not let Mei Simiao escape so easily. Being proficient in multiple types of magic, she knew that regardless of how powerful Fire Magic was, within this space, its power would inevitably diminish. Since the boastful youth wanted her buried in a foreign land, she would see to it that he would feed the fish in this other-dimensional water. Here was the death ground she had chosen for him!
With this thought, a stream of incantations flowed ceaselessly from Sarah's lips. The originally calm water at the ocean floor seemed to be driven by an invisible hand, turning violent and boiling, with numerous undercurrents squeezing toward Mei Simiao, who was struggling to float up.
Entrapped by the immense water pressure, Mei Simiao's body couldn't move at all. He was pushed by the rushing water down into the abyss. Clearly, Sarah did not believe that such an attack could easily claim the life of a high-ranking member of the Investigation Bureau. Hence, she removed a gorgeously crafted bracelet from her wrist and casually tossed it into the sea.
As the bracelet sank, with the final incantation leaving her lips, the entire sea was thrown into turmoil, becoming a muddled chaos. Even Sarah, within her air bubble, was swayed back and forth by the turbulent water, struggling to maintain her footing.
Yet she did not panic, instead focusing on the crimson eyes slowly opening in the deep sea, revealing a satisfied smile.
