Chapter 449 449: Plan (Seeking Subscription)
After Kodwen stated his position, an impending dispute dissipated into nothingness. Whether he truly obeyed Sifuer's command was not something Pei Yan was concerned with; as long as Kodwen didn't add trouble in the upcoming actions, Pei Yan wouldn't bother further.
Having decided to fall under Sifuer's command, Kodwen quickly found his place, wisely stepping down from the negotiation table to join the crowd. Pei Yan, restarting the negotiation, spread his hands with a smile and said, "Well, the troubling matter has been resolved. Let us return to my previous question. What was it that I wanted to ask?" Pei Yan pondered briefly and then, organizing his thoughts, continued, "Oh, right! Even if I know all the information here, how should I transmit the message back? Personally, I have a Plane Wall Breaker, but it requires locating weak spots in the Plane Barrier. I suppose, as natives of this plane, you know where these places are, right? How did your previous breakout team manage to break through?"
Upon hearing Pei Yan's question, a look of difficulty appeared on the faces of Bailang and Sifuer. Pei Yan tilted his head in confusion and asked, "Is there a problem?"
"Actually, after the battle became stalemated, we tried to seek aid from other planes, but by then, it was too late. During that period, the entire plane had been completely locked, making it impossible to break through. As the battle progressed, perhaps due to the Disaster Legion's space lock's effectiveness wearing off, or because their occupied territories grew too large, consuming too much of their power, their control over space decreased, and we found the possibility of breakthrough, but...." By the end, Sifuer hesitated.
"But these weak spots are all enveloped by the Red Calamity, continuously?" Pei Yan blurted out after understanding the situation. After receiving Sifuer's confirmation, Pei Yan nodded. It made sense that when Gu Shenghui and his team entered the alternate plane, they encountered the Disaster Legion's assault; it turned out all places that could breach the Plane Barrier were already controlled by the enemy.
Thinking this, Pei Yan rubbed his nose, contemplated for a moment, and sighed, "It seems that this matter will eventually fall on my shoulders. However, if I am to break through and convey the message, I hope you can send people along! Besides guiding the route, I also need someone incredibly familiar with the Disaster Legion's specifics to present your situation to my superiors in person. To be honest, the person you sent to break through before didn't seem in the best physical condition, whether they can hold out is unknown. And, uh, you'd better prepare several candidates in case someone... uh, you know! Even I can't guarantee everyone's safety in battles."
"It's what we should do. We'll start preparing candidates after today's negotiation," Bailang readily promised.
Pei Yan nodded in satisfaction and then, as if remembering something, asked, "There's something I've been perplexed about and can't figure out. I want to ask, when I fought with Raphael that day, I was briefly controlled and unable to move. Do you know why that happened?"
"Uh, she belongs to the Shadow Race, and it's one of their Secret Techniques. Only they can perform it."
"The Shadow Race?" Seeing Sifuer hesitate and hearing this new term piqued Pei Yan's interest. He leaned forward and said, "Could I meet this person? I have no intention of settling scores afterward, just wish to meet her!"
"Sorry, when the space plane was unlocked, she took the risk of still being within the Red Calamity's cover and fled. According to our investigation afterward, she had an unusual relationship with Raphael." Upon hearing that Pei Yan wouldn't pursue the matter, Sifuer clearly breathed a sigh of relief, then seeing Pei Yan about to speak again, she preemptively said, "Mr. Shitang, the Shadow Race is quite a special presence in our plane. Although not few in number, they're not a mainstream ethnic group, and during the great war, their dwellings suffered devastating attacks, making them even rarer. Some exist within my territory, but they are not aligned with us and have yet to arrive. If Mr. Shitang is interested, should they successfully reach the sanctuary, I will arrange for them to meet you at the earliest opportunity."
Hearing this, Pei Yan did not pursue further. He placed his hands on the table and stood, making his stance clear, "I have no more questions for now. I hope our collaboration proceeds quickly in the future!"
"Of course! We will fully cooperate with Mr. Shitang's reconnaissance work here. If you have any requests, feel free to ask and we will endeavor to fulfill them." Bailang stood, smiling in response, then looked at Lilia beside the negotiation table and said, "Lilia, from today, you shall follow Mr. Shitang's instructions. Do not withhold answers to his questions, and if you encounter questions you cannot answer, come to me directly."
"Yes!"
Lying on the bed, Pei Yan clicked his tongue in praise as he flipped through the painting papers before him. Two weeks had passed since the negotiation. While adjusting his physical state and patiently awaiting the next Red Calamity's arrival, he began understanding the process of the Disaster Legion. It's undeniable that Lilia indeed possesses exceptional artistic talent; each drawing was lifelike, and with her explanations, Pei Yan gained a clearer understanding of the upper-level strengths within the Disaster Legion.
After archiving this information, Pei Yan started planning his next move. Choosing a suitable location to break through and deliver the crucial intelligence is a must, but he's not prepared to return to the present world just yet.
Having gained a deeper understanding of the Disaster Legion, he realized that Gu Shenghui's concerns weren't baseless. This mysterious group doesn't seem ready to stop once Hell Plane is annihilated. However, major decisions regarding interdimensional warfare aren't his to make; they'll depend on how upper echelons judge. What truly concerns him is how to utilize the sanctuary's people to enhance his own power.
This was one of the reasons for orchestrating Kodwen's submission to Sifuer. With these free fighters, the process of vanquishing the Disaster Legion, absorbing the essence, and boosting his strength would be significantly accelerated. Through understanding, he's aware that the so-called front lines of the last Holy City shouldn't be his focus; there are too many superpowered experts there, making it a pointless venture for him in his current state. Should he encounter a few recognizing experts with similar intentions to Raphael's, he'd have no place to cry.
The front lines are out of bounds, so the Disaster Pillars in the rear, occupied by the Disaster Legion, became his primary targets, as only mid- and low-level troops guard them. If he manages to sabotage the Disaster Pillars effectively, with Sifuer's troops' assault, he could gain immense benefits.
Having made up his mind, Pei Yan spread out the local topography map that Lilia provided, setting about planning his next course of action.
