"Wait a little longer!" Pei Yan observed the battlefield with a serious expression.
"Why wait? I'm not questioning your decision! I'm fully compliant, just think it would be good to end the battle quickly, right? Things change with time, and it's you who said we must win this battle." Xia Yu tossed the metal ball in her hand, puzzled.
Noticing Pei Yan's intention, Ye Ruozai glanced at Xia Yu and answered for him, "Just as the Demon Race is unwilling to give up the technique of binding the earth's channels, people are inherently selfish! Right now, the Disaster Legion is our enemy, and the Demon Race is our ally! But in the future? Who can say? According to the intelligence they provided, before the Red Disaster engulfed us, they were pressing the Disaster Legion back, which doesn't match the power they're showing now."
Pei Yan nodded in agreement and said, "Indeed, wait a little longer. I want to see what other cards these demons haven't shown us yet. According to the battle plan, we've already done what we need to do; it's time they put in some effort! By the way, how are your essences converting and absorbing?"
As he spoke, Pei Yan turned to his companions with a smile and asked, Zhao Yuanhu smiled and said, "Just as you said, absorbing here is much faster than in the training ground. With these free fighters, every time a member of the Disaster Legion is eliminated, we split a stream of wandering essence."
"That's good!" Pei Yan, having already taken the lion's share, didn't argue over the scattered essences on the battlefield, and gazed up at the Bull Territory, muttering to himself, "Now let's see their performance. I hope they don't disappoint. If we can't take it down, we'll have to step in, but by then, we'll demand more."
As Pei Yan conversed with his companions, the battle on the battlefield had reached a fever pitch. The line of fearless armed defenders stubbornly halted the advance of Leohard's army, and due to the disadvantage of attacking uphill and the occasional acid rain from above, they couldn't break through the defenses, placing immense psychological pressure on the attackers.
"Damn! Those people are still leisurely clearing out useless minions in the back! Where's the momentum they showed when they fought us in the courtyard?" One of Leohard's personal guards, Jena, gritted her teeth, took a hit from an armed defender's lightning strike, pierced her spear through the enemy's chest, spat blood, and glanced scornfully at the leisurely Pei Yan and his group at the back of the battlefield.
"Yeah! Captain! Let them help attack! Isn't capturing the Bull Territory a common goal for both sides?" another personal guard chimed in.
"Shut up!" Leohard chopped off the head of an armed defender with his longsword, glaring around with bloodshot eyes, he shouted angrily, "A bunch of useless guys, did we not fight in the past without these people? The Red Disaster gave you a reason to fear the enemy, now that the Disaster Pillar has collapsed! What reason do we have not to fight to the end? Respect isn't given by others; it's something we earn!"
Then he removed the heavy helmet from his head, throwing it towards the battlefield, and pointed his longsword to where the helmet fell, "That is the position we must capture, for Kataraga! For the honor of the Thorn Flower!"
These words undoubtedly injected a shot of adrenaline into the morale-depleted Knight Order. Most of the armor worn by the Knight Order members was handed down from their ancestors, except for the newly appointed knights, who received theirs from the lord. Leohard's armor was bestowed upon his grandfather for his meritorious service when the title was given, carefully crafted by the lord's personal order, bearing the honor of Leohard's family.
Throwing the helmet to the enemy's camp meant either capturing the enemy's position and retrieving the helmet in victory or dying on this battlefield with it in eternal rest, no third option!
Seeing their leader swear an oath of life, the knights of the Knight Order burst with fighting spirit, threw their helmets towards the enemy's formation, and then launched another charge with their spears.
Meanwhile, after witnessing their own troop's morale surge, Leohard turned to his banner-bearer beside him and commanded in a deep voice, "Wave the flags, let the rear launch support attacks!"
The knight carrying the battle flag nodded without a word, and with his arm movements, continuously signaled various commands. Upon receiving the orders, the Harpies led the majority of the Demon Race to land on the ground. Meanwhile, those Harpies who remained airborne underwent a tremendous transformation in front of Pei Yan's wide-eyed expression.
In the air, the Demons riding the Harpies stretched out their arms, hugging the Harpies' necks tightly, and as they turned into black mist, the two began to rapidly merge. The Harpies then began to grow, from the size of a male lion to the size of a sturdy rhinoceros in no time.
While Harpies and Demons were merging in the air, the Demons that landed didn't remain idle. Those Demons who used long-range attacks pulled out one new astrolabe after another from their satchels, then stabbed their own palms with daggers, prying out the embedded astrolabe. Despite the blood streaming from their hands, they inserted a new astrolabe into the same wound, and as their bodies quickly healed, the new astrolabe merged with their palms.
This was Pei Yan and others' first time witnessing Demons replacing their astrolabes, and its bloody directness piqued Pei Yan's interest, making him contemplate whether to obtain a few astrolabes to study. While he pondered over it, the Demons who replaced their astrolabes slammed their palms on the ground in unison.
"Wow, with wounds like that, they're really putting their hands in the dirt and not afraid of tetanus?" Xia Yu couldn't help but joke upon seeing this, but before her voice faded, the ground beneath her trembled. At first, she thought it was another attack by the Magma Insects, but upon careful observation, she realized the vibration was caused by the Demons.
The astrolabe patterns from the Demons' palms were engraved on the ground, expanding outward. As the patterns gradually took shape, the light they emitted and the resulting tremors grew ever more intense. Until the last blinding light flashed by, when Xia Yu regained her sight, several enormous shadows appeared before her.
Awoo! Awoo! Awoo! Deafening roars echoed across the battlefield. Under the summoning of the astrolabes, dozens of colossal crocodiles appeared in front of everyone. Each giant croc was nearly forty meters long, and almost twelve meters tall. When the herd moved together, it brought the fury of a small earthquake.
"Good heavens, these things are three times the size of the terror croc models I saw in museums, absolutely terrifying!" Zhao Yuanhu, having moved aside to clear the way for these beasts, exclaimed in shock as he watched the monsters.
"Looks like the Demon Race wants to show you their true power, and their assault isn't over yet!" Ye Ruozai turned, squinting at the other side of the battlefield, and patted Pei Yan on the shoulder, reminding him.
