CHAPTER 14: CHAPTER 14: A NIGHTTIME VISIT TO THE BOUDOIR

Sienna Thornton adjusted herself to a comfortable position on the sofa, raising her injured leg, "What did Mr. Forrester say?"

"Mr. Forrester instructed Assistant Rhodes not to go to the office from tomorrow, and to come here and take good care of you instead."

"..."

Sienna was feeling complex emotions. After sending Auntie King to prepare bath essentials, she sat and pondered for a while.

Early the next day, Harrison Rowe indeed came over with a basket of fruit, but given Sienna’s instructions, Auntie King didn’t let him in, so he had no chance to enter.

At noon, as Sienna was preparing for a nap, Auntie King glanced through the peephole and exclaimed, "That Assistant Rhodes is still out there! Isn’t he waiting outside since this morning?"

An adult man standing at the door of a young woman’s home all day was a bit unsettling when you think about it.

Sienna asked Auntie King to help her over, intending to persuade Harrison to leave the doorstep.

Upon opening the door, Harrison was on the phone, and from the tone, it seemed like he was talking to Simon Forrester. Seeing her appear, Harrison quickly ended the call.

He handed the fruit basket to Auntie King, who was standing by, and respectfully said to Sienna, "Lawyer Thornton, there are matters at the office, so I’ll head back for now and come see you later."

"Assistant Rhodes," Sienna called out to Harrison, who was about to head down the stairs, "Go back and tell your Director Forrester that it’s because of his vase that my leg is broken. It’s his failure to warn that requires him to take responsibility for my injury, not you. Therefore, I don’t want care from anyone else but him, including you, Assistant Rhodes."

Harrison’s lips moved as if he wanted to say something, but in the end, he didn’t, only shaking his head helplessly as he descended the stairs.

Auntie King stepped up to support Sienna, murmuring quietly, "Mr. Forrester really is something, leaving you here injured and, on top of that, sending a man to watch over you every day. Isn’t that just deliberately putting you in a tough spot?"

Sienna, already irritated, was provoked upon hearing Auntie King’s comments, "Auntie, call Harrison again tonight and say I’ve neither eaten nor drunk anything all day, and it’s imperative Mr. Forrester comes by after work tonight."

"Okay."

In the evening, Auntie King, following Sienna’s instructions, called Harrison, exaggeratedly describing how Sienna had lost her will to live.

While lying in bed watching food streams, Sienna chuckled to herself, though she wasn’t sure if Simon Forrester would actually come, as she couldn’t fathom his thoughts.

It wasn’t until Sienna was about to sleep that Simon didn’t show up.

Auntie King entered the room, speaking quietly, "Lawyer Thornton, should we call Assistant Rhodes again?"

"Tomorrow," Sienna shut her phone, rubbing her eyes, "I want to sleep."

"Alright." Auntie King closed the door.

As the only source of light was eclipsed by the door, the room plunged into darkness, and Sienna drifted into sleep.

She didn’t know how long she had been asleep when vigorous shaking woke her, and she slowly opened her eyes to see Auntie King shaking her arm.

"Lawyer Thornton, Mr. Forrester is here, outside. Do you want to go see him?"

"Hmm?" Sienna groggily reached for her phone on the bedside table, the screen casting a blue light that made her squint for a moment before she could clearly see the time: Midnight sharp.

"Why so late? Can’t he let people sleep?" She threw off the covers and, with Auntie King’s assistance, sat up.

Changing into outdoor clothes was too much trouble. Feeling weak all over and lacking energy, she casually threw on a knee-length cotton robe over her pink nightdress, revealing a long, slender leg, smooth as silk without a pore in sight.

Auntie King admired with a "tsk-tsk," "Lawyer Thornton, your figure is really enviable; I was as slim as you when I was young..."

"Auntie, you still look very slim!" Sienna pressed down hard on Auntie King’s arm, supporting herself to stand.

Auntie King, flattered, laughed uncontrollably and became even more attentive in helping Sienna grab her cane and assisted her in meeting the nocturnal visitor, Simon Forrester.
