CHAPTER 150: CHAPTER 149: WHEN PEOPLE LEAVE, THE TEA COOLS

After lunch, Sienna Thornton and Rochelle Linwood returned to Vantage, planning to sign a handover document with Lawyer Young and leave.

While Rochelle was preparing the documents, Sienna sat on the office sofa, waiting while reading a book on her Kindle.

Lawyer Young sat in her old seat, looking a bit uneasy, hesitantly answering a client’s call.

Perhaps this kind of soft approach is what the foreign department leader prefers.

Sienna couldn’t help but find it amusing.

Around three o’clock, Rochelle brought in the handover document, which Sienna scanned quickly and signed her name without delay.

She figured she could leave soon and was just about to call Simon Forrester when, as if they were in sync, he called her first.

The other end was quiet, so she guessed he wasn’t busy and asked directly, "I’m almost done here. Are you coming to pick me up?"

Simon answered, "Sure, I’ll be there in about half an hour. Are we cooking at home tonight?"

Sienna glanced at the time and laughed, "Cooking involves washing vegetables and dishes—it’s such a hassle, but going out, we never know what to eat..."

He said something on the other end that made her playfully retort, "I can’t bear seeing those delicate hands of yours rough from washing vegetables and dishes—wouldn’t I be the one suffering then..."

Her words were layered with meaning, but everyone present understood.

Rochelle smiled at her.

She was so focused on talking to Simon that she didn’t notice someone had entered the office.

"Alright... Let’s go to that place we went last time. Tonight, we’ll do as you say..." Sienna ended the call with a bashful smile.

Since Simon would be moving back to his own home the next day, he invited her to dine at "BJ Bright," the place where they confirmed their relationship, then go to a movie.

She agreed, thinking it would be their last evening together for a while.

"Is Lawyer Thornton in love?" At some point, Jane Jefferson had taken a seat opposite on another chair.

Sienna smiled gracefully, "Yes."

"And who’s the lucky person?" Jane asked.

Sienna glanced at her, raised an eyebrow slightly, her smile fading a bit, thinking: Even Lawyer Chandler knows it’s Simon Forrester, so why pretend not to know?

But she just grumbled internally, knowing it’s not worth arguing over, and answered with a smile, "A designer from SY."

That was all she said; she couldn’t outright declare Simon as the sole heir of the wealthy Forrester Family, a shareholder of Forrester Group, an architectural genius, and the owner of SY.

Such labels were true but would sound like boasting coming from her.

Though she had wanted to retort Lawyer Chandler this morning about Simon being a shareholder in Forrester Group, which in turn has shares in Vantage.

Nevertheless, she held back; it’s wise not to flaunt wealth, and it’s best not to overly display the good side of a boyfriend, lest others covet it.

Seeing she wasn’t saying much more, Jane tactfully stopped asking and joined Lawyer Young to review the handover document.

Sienna teased, "Is Lawyer Jefferson here to help Lawyer Young out?"

Jane smiled subtly, saying nothing.

The two spent quite a while verifying inventory and cross-checking the sparse office assets; half an hour had passed like that.

Worried about keeping Simon waiting too long, Sienna wanted to leave. Just as she was about to ask if they were finished, she saw through the glass wall a tall figure walking closer.

Simon was dressed in a white shirt and black trousers, sleeves rolled up due to the heat, exposing a navy alligator leather strap mechanical watch on his left wrist, part of Vacheron’s Heritage series, costing over four million.

Quite a hefty sum for a wrist piece.

Sienna stood up with a smile and waited at the office door for him.

As he arrived, he naturally took her hand with a smile, spoiling her at the gaze of his eyes, "Are all the things packed up?"

"Yeah, just two boxes; we can each take one down and put them in the car," Sienna said, glancing at Lawyer Young and Jane.

Lawyer Young was still meticulously checking the document; Jane was watching them.

Sienna smiled at Jane and brought Simon in, introducing, "My boyfriend came to help me with my things."

Upon hearing that, Lawyer Young looked up with a smile at Simon before returning to the document.

Jane also looked at Simon, expressionless.

Sienna said nothing more, but led Simon inside to sit down.

Simon said, "I’ve ordered the car for you, and there’s one available at the dealership. The paperwork can be done in the next few days, and you can drive it home before you start at the new firm."

Sienna was surprised, "Such efficiency!"

Simon chuckled, still holding her hand.

After a while, he added, "Why don’t you wait until after the national holiday to start work? The weather is still hot now."

"But I’d be too bored spending the whole September at home."

"Shall we go to Europe? Spend some time there and come back?"

"But your work is so busy..."

"Currently, I’m just handling the Hawthorne project; other projects are managed by Logan. Hawthorne might get busy after the Holiday, but I’ve time in September," Simon explained earnestly.

Hearing this, Sienna was interested. After all, things have been tough mutually, and he was stressed too, so why not take a vacation?

She agreed.

Simon took out his phone, and they began looking at travel guides online, discussing which countries to visit.

Sienna wanted to go to Britione, so she suggested Westeria; Simon had spent years there and preferred going to The Northlands for the Northern Lights.

Speaking of the Northern Lights, Sienna got excited, "I want to see them too!"

"Then shall we go to The Northlands?"

"But I also want to visit Britione, to see where you’ve lived, breathe the air you’ve breathed, walk the paths you’ve walked..."

Just with that sentence, Simon’s heart melted utterly, looking at her fondly, "It’s all up to you."

Finally, they reached a unanimous decision: spend half a month in Westeria and half in The Northlands; return after the Holiday and get back to work.

This was probably the happiest day for Sienna in recent times.

The confrontation with Lawyer Chandler in the lobby earlier vanished from her mind quickly.

She has always been easygoing, letting unhappy things go after a night’s rest.

Meanwhile, Lawyer Young finally finished signing the handover document, then had it signed by the head, and Sienna prepared to leave with Simon.

Simon carried both boxes on his own, not letting her handle one, while she just held her handbag, leaving the office where she’d worked for two years, serving the firm faithfully.

Yet as she left, apart from Rochelle, no one came to see her off.

Indeed, it’s true that when people leave, things turn cold.

In the elevator, she clung to Simon’s arm, resting her head gently against his shoulder and reflected, "Luckily you came to pick me up today; otherwise, leaving alone would have felt truly desolate."
