Our Love Story: Hard to Guard Against the Sudden Love Strike
Chapter 28: Perfectly Straight
CHAPTER 28: CHAPTER 28: PERFECTLY STRAIGHT
Simon Forrester looked down at the bright red nail polish forcibly placed in his hand, full of confusion.
Sienna Thornton bluntly asked, "Are you going to help me apply it, or should I find someone else?"
Upon hearing this, Simon Forrester immediately understood and turned to close the study door, heading towards the living room.
Sienna Thornton was taken aback and hurriedly followed on her crutches, "So Director Forrester is going to do it himself?"
"Don’t blame me if it turns out badly." The man walking ahead coldly replied.
"..."
Applying nail polish on the feet requires a soft leather stool to cushion the calf for comfort. Looking at the L-shaped leather sofa in the living room, Sienna Thornton was in a dilemma.
"Where should I sit to apply it?"
Faced with Simon Forrester’s repeated inquiry, Sienna Thornton gritted her teeth, "Just sit on the sofa, okay."
With that, she sat directly on the sofa and lifted the un-casted foot onto the coffee table.
"Put your foot down." Simon Forrester, standing beside her, said in a deep voice.
Sienna Thornton was puzzled but didn’t immediately take her foot back, instead raised her head to look at him and asked hesitantly, "I put my foot on the table so you can apply it."
"Feet don’t belong on the table, didn’t your parents teach you?"
"..." Sienna Thornton silently withdrew her foot.
Though usually eloquent, she was unusually silent at this moment.
Simon Forrester opened the nail polish bottle, sniffed slightly, and asked, "You dare to apply such corrosive stuff on yourself?"
Sienna Thornton pursed her lips and didn’t reply.
Only then did Simon Forrester realize something was wrong. Looking closely, her eyes seemed a bit red.
He thought perhaps he had spoken too harshly earlier, causing Sienna Thornton distress, and his voice softened a few notches: "The chemicals in nail polish can affect health."
"So what?"
Sienna Thornton sniffled, raised her face, and flashed her usual bright smile, "Smoking can cause lung cancer, secondhand smoke affects others’ health, so have you quit smoking? Sun exposure might cause skin cancer, so do people avoid the sun? No one knows if tomorrow or an accident will come first."
"I can quit smoking."
"Then quit! The day you succeed in quitting smoking will be when I stop using nail polish!"
"It’s a promise."
Sienna Thornton was taken aback that he was serious, speechless for a moment, glanced at the opened nail polish, and urged, "Hurry up, or the stuff in the bottle will dry out!"
She rested her left foot on the sofa armrest, gesturing to Simon Forrester, "Come over and sit opposite me to apply."
Simon Forrester sat down expressionlessly.
She was wearing a pink velvet nightdress, inconvenient to wear long pants due to the plaster cast on her right foot, so the hem of her dress was empty, revealing two long, straight, fair legs.
Simon Forrester restrained himself from looking, lowered his voice, and coughed lightly.
The nail polish brush dipped in luscious bright red swept over the nail of Sienna Thornton’s left foot big toe.
Sienna Thornton didn’t expect his technique to be so steady and couldn’t help but praise, "Not bad! Not crooked at all."
Simon Forrester, focusing on applying nail polish, glanced up at her, "Very straight, okay?"
"Indeed," Sienna Thornton deliberately extended the last word, "so adorably straight..."
As she was about to further praise Simon Forrester, the doorbell rang. Simon Forrester tightened the nail polish cap and strode to the entrance.
He looked outside through the peephole, turned around, and said in a low voice, "Thomas Reed is here."
Sienna Thornton was startled, scrambling to stand up, whispered, "How did he know I’m here?"
Simon Forrester frowned and shook his head.
