CHAPTER 56: CHAPTER 56: CONSUMMATION

The old man squinted slightly, staring at Sienna Thornton up and down several times. His eyes revealed a gleam as he said delightedly, "It’s her for sure! My sight isn’t bad at all. Back then, I could tell this girl was a beauty in the making! Tsk tsk tsk!"

Felix Raines also rushed in, ran up to Sienna Thornton, pointed at Sienna’s plastered leg, and put on a broad smile, "Village Chief, the child is indeed not fit to move. In a few days, I’ll definitely bring her to visit you personally!"

The Village Chief’s son piped up from the side, "No way! I want to take her away today!"

Sienna Thornton felt disgusted as if she had swallowed a fly. She pulled Felix aside angrily, lowered her voice, and questioned, "So, you traded my freedom for your homestead?"

Felix Raines lowered his head, saying nothing.

Sienna glanced at the room blocked tightly by bullies, ultimately feeling scared. She threatened Felix steely, "If I am taken away tonight by the Village Chief’s men, the eighty thousand will be flushed away; you understand?"

Felix sighed weakly, muttering, "If I let you go, I won’t live to spend that eighty thousand!"

Sienna finally realized his game.

First, he intended to extort eighty thousand from her, retrieve the money, and then notify the Village Chief to capture her. This way, he not only gets money but also can become in-laws with the Village Chief, ensuring future land acquisition. His only miscalculation was the Village Chief’s impatience, showing up for her the very night.

Sienna wished she could tear him to pieces immediately, but if Felix died, she couldn’t escape either.

She contemplated and decided to gamble, "If I can leave here safely, I’ll take your whole family away. Then, you can spend the eighty thousand however you like."

Seeing Felix not responding, Sienna gritted her teeth, "One hundred thousand!"

Felix doubted, "Will you really give me one hundred thousand? If you escape and don’t pay, where would I find you?"

"My mom is in your hands. Where can I possibly escape to?"

Felix naturally knew Melinda Linton was Sienna’s only relative. Although Sienna hadn’t returned for the past twelve years, she’d occasionally call Melinda or send her money.

Considering for a moment, Felix believed it would be okay and agreed.

Gathering up courage, he walked toward the Village Chief, grinning, "The kid just told me she wants to accompany her mom tonight, hasn’t been back for so many years. Please show mercy! Please show mercy!"

The Village Chief said nothing, but his blockhead son kept yelling from the side, "No way!"

Seeing the situation, Felix worried that if Sienna was indeed taken by the Village Chief, his one hundred thousand would be lost.

With a heart of steel, he pulled a stern face and spoke loudly to the wall, "In the future, we are going to be relatives by marriage. Knowing my wife just recovered from a major illness, you won’t allow the child to accompany her a bit longer and want to take her directly. How does that make sense? In broad daylight! Is there no law?"

When he said these words, he dared not look at the Village Chief and his son. His courage wasn’t enough; he only dared to speak to the wall, reciting the prepared lines like reading a textbook, thus giving the words no intimidating force.

But the Village Chief heard it and stormed over, delivering a solid slap to him, "You want to talk law to me? Here, I am the law! You dare to talk law to me? Today, I’ll show you what law means!"

"Men!" the Village Chief called to the burly guys blocking the doorway, "Take Felix’s eldest daughter away; I’m having my son consummate the marriage tonight!"
