Akaza
Akaza’s eyes darted around the magnificent hall as he took his first steps into Alex’s domain.
The sheer scale of the place was overwhelming—towering ceilings that seemed to stretch endlessly upward, walls adorned with intricate carvings, and an otherworldly glow that illuminated the space.
The air itself felt heavy, not oppressive, but charged with an undeniable power. For the first time in centuries, Akaza felt small.
He was still processing the grandeur when his eyes fell upon a figure standing at the far end of the hall.
A woman, no—a goddess—stepped forward, her every movement exuding grace and authority.
She had flowing black hair that shimmered like silk, piercing golden eyes, and jet-black wings that seemed to absorb the light around them.
Akaza froze. Even as a demon who had long cast aside the distractions of beauty or desire, he couldn’t help but feel momentarily stunned by her presence.
But what struck him more than her beauty was the raw, overwhelming power she radiated. It was like staring into an abyss, knowing it could swallow him whole.
"You must be Akaza," the woman said, her voice calm and melodic, yet commanding. "I am Albedo, Guardian Overseer of the Great Tomb of Nazarick. Lord Alex has informed us of your arrival."
Akaza lowered his head slightly in respect, though he wasn’t sure why. Something about her presence demanded it. "He... he said he would resurrect a woman for me," Akaza replied cautiously, his voice quieter than usual.
He wasn’t accustomed to this kind of situation. He didn’t even know how to refer to Alex properly, and the uncertainty gnawed at him.
Albedo’s golden eyes glinted with amusement, though her face remained composed. "Currently, Lord Alex is in your world, attending to a significant task. He will return shortly to fulfill his promise."
Akaza nodded but remained wary. The way Albedo looked at him—it wasn’t hostile, but it was sharp, as if she were evaluating every inch of him.
He could tell she was powerful, perhaps even more so than his former mistress, Muzanette. The thought made his chest tighten.
There was a brief silence before Akaza spoke again, unable to suppress the question that had been gnawing at him since he arrived. "Can I ask you something? Why did he invite me here? Why would someone like... him want me as his subordinates?"
Albedo tilted her head slightly, a sly smile playing at her lips. "Why indeed," she said, her tone almost teasing. But then her expression grew serious, her wings shifting slightly behind her. "Lord Alex has plans far beyond your understanding, Akaza. Plans that span not just your world but all worlds."
Akaza frowned, confused. "All... worlds?"
Albedo nodded, stepping closer to him. "Lord Alex seeks to conquer every world, to unite them under his banner. His vision is grander than anything you or your former mistress could have ever imagined. He requires soldiers—powerful beings who can serve him loyally in his campaign."
Akaza’s mind reeled at the implication. Conquer all worlds? The idea seemed absurd, and yet... standing here, in this incomprehensibly vast hall, under the gaze of this impossibly powerful woman, it didn’t feel impossible. If anyone could do it, it would be Alex.
"You are here," Albedo continued, "because Lord Alex sees potential in you. You’ve already proven your strength, even if it was misplaced under Muzanette. Lord Alex is willing to offer you something greater—a purpose far beyond what you’ve known."
Akaza processed her words, his mind racing. "He never mentioned anything like that."
"Of course not," Albedo said, her tone matter-of-fact. "Lord Alex does not need to explain himself to those he deems worthy of his trust. You were given an opportunity to follow him, and you accepted. That alone speaks to your potential."
Akaza remained silent for a moment, his gaze dropping to the polished floor. Her words stirred something within him—a mixture of curiosity and unease.
He had followed Alex out of desperation, clinging to the hope of reviving the woman he had lost. But now, he found himself caught in a web of ambition far greater than he had anticipated.
"Do you... truly believe he can conquer all worlds?" Akaza asked cautiously.
Albedo’s smile widened, her golden eyes gleaming with fervor. "It is not a matter of belief, Akaza. It is a certainty. Lord Alex’s power transcends anything you or I have ever witnessed. The only question is whether you will rise to meet his expectations... or be discarded as unworthy."
