CHAPTER 100: BREAKTHROUGH TRIAL (14/)

His eyes snapped open.

For a moment, he just stared around the room.

It was the same place... the same morning light slipping through the curtains and filling the room with a soft glow.

"DAMNIT!!!"

His shout exploded through the room, running down the long hallway and making every staff member outside freeze in confusion.

Brandon and a few guards rushed toward the room at once.

They pushed the door open, some of them armed, afraid something had happened to their young master.

But the moment they entered—

"Get the hell out!"

Marlon glared at them, his voice cold and sharp as he commanded.

"Young master, what is happening..."

Brandon tried to ask. He was Marlon’s personal guard after all and thought he could talk to him.

"Are you deaf? Get the fuck out of my room!"

The words hit all of them like a slap.

They had no choice. One by one, they stepped out and closed the door behind them.

Silence filled the room again.

Marlon stood still for a second before walking to the mirror.

He stared at his reflection.

It was the face of this world’s Marlon.

The one he saw at the end of the fourth trial... that was his original face.

He tried to understand everything that had just happened, tried to connect the pieces, but it only made him more confused.

The more he thought about it, the less sense it made.

Nothing added up.

Everything just felt like one big, deep mess.

"I need to succeed no matter what!"

He clenched his fist; only then would he leave this nightmare of a breakthrough trial.

The mission details had already appeared.

He entered a contemplative state as he imagined which and which to purchase.

And he settled on four of them.

Strength Stats, Agility Stats, Steel Punch, and Ironstone Body.

With these, he had beyond human-level attack and impenetrable defense.

Whether it be defending himself against the last entity on his previous round or displaying his powers to convince the people, he was fully stocked.

[ Remaining Trials: 9,596 ]

He used 300 trials, equivalent to almost a year’s worth of time.

Speaking of time...

He opened his apocalypse panel, and shockingly, the time was still twelve hours like the fourth round.

He would work with it.

So for the first change, he changed into a new set of comfortable clothes and stepped out of his room.

And he quickly discovered this round was oddly similar to the first round.

There were no conflicts, and his uncle was still alive according to Brandon. Also, he was not a soldier in this timeline but rather the owner of the biggest bank.

Thus, there was no need to worry about a coup d’état happening.

And with all these discoveries, he decided to make things quicker.

He made his guards help him capture a video of his immense strength and agility.

As usual, they were beyond dumbfounded as they witnessed him lifting the heaviest car in the garage effortlessly with a single hand.

Marlon even challenged one of the guards to shoot him, and when they did, they discovered Marlon’s impregnable skin.

Questions arose, the same ones that would arise when the video was eventually posted, so Marlon recorded a ten-minute-long speech explaining the apocalypse.

But unlike the last time, he did not warn the people about the meteor shower alone; he included the zombie incident this time.

He suggested everyone be sheltered in rigid facilities and that they should arm themselves with weapons. He also gave them instructions on how to deal with the zombies.

Then he posted the two clips on all social media platforms. He also sent them to all the popular TV channels in this world to help broadcast it faster.

Only after he was done ensuring the news was in circulation did he command Brandon to take him to the purple villa.

In this round, he ensured to calculate how much time it took to get there, and it was almost three hours.

He also marked the route should he have a need to ditch the car ride and run for it.

As they arrived, his father seemed to already be waiting for him.

The video he had posted online had done its part in circulating the news around; it sent the citizens into an uproar, and every security agency in the country got more calls and tasks than they had ever gotten.

A few delegates from the four neighbouring nations were already present at the purple villa, demanding a meeting with Marlon.

Like most of the citizens, they believed the entire video was edited, and they needed proof.

And proof, he gave to them.

Displaying his strength, agility, and even testing his defense in their presence.

He convinced them, and with the revelation, each of them phoned their respective leaders and delivered that the news was authentic, and so the world began to prepare once again.

The preparation was much faster this time, as some of the nations had already begun immediately after the videos.

Death occurred, mostly due to road accidents.

This round, there were far more casualties compared to the last, with over fifty thousand people dead.

But he was unbothered; such an amount was little compared to the total population.

Time drifted quickly.

Afternoon came, went, and now it was evening.

Observing the countdown, there were only less than two minutes remaining, and so he strolled toward the window, awaiting the true beginning of world ends.

What would it be this time? he wondered.

Would the world burn, or would it be consumed by a virus?
