Pampered by My Secret Husband
Chapter 149: Can You Stay Away from Me?
CHAPTER 149: CHAPTER 149: CAN YOU STAY AWAY FROM ME?
Sophie Sullivan put Harry down. Harry bounced twice on the lawn, shaking himself all over.
Grass fragments continually fell from him.
Sophie jumped onto the haystack, lay back, and squinted at the blue sky and white clouds.
Such a good day was perfect for a good sleep.
She placed one hand over her eyes, ready to sleep.
Harry climbed onto the haystack, his claws treading carefully on her legs as he slowly walked to her chest.
"MEOW..." he tested, his claws gently prodding.
Sophie lifted him by the scruff of his neck, dangling him in the air. "If you make any more noise, I’ll make you into soup and drink it!"
"MEOW." Harry’s fur bristled, and he wagged his tail pitifully.
Sophie tossed him aside. Harry let out a wail, spinning in the air before landing on all fours.
Undeterred, Harry climbed back onto the haystack.
This time, he was smarter. He walked along the haystack directly to Sophie’s side, then pressed his furry body against her and curled up.
"Harry, can you stay away from me?" Sophie snapped, her voice edged with irritation.
Harry looked at her innocently, wagging his tail in a gesture of goodwill.
Sophie squinted, grabbed one of his whiskers, and tugged it twice. "When I see you, I think of your maniac master."
"MEOW."
"When I think of your maniac master, I want to beat you to vent my anger."
"..."
"Get lost before I resort to violence."
Harry didn’t understand and just meowed pitifully. Sophie released his whiskers and closed her eyes, feeling sullen.
Getting worked up over a cat... she really must be bored!
The maid returned, bringing two helpers with her.
"Maniac, have you finished the work I told you to do?"
Sophie lay still, pretending not to hear. The maid felt provoked.
Taking a few steps forward, she grabbed Sophie’s ankle and tried to drag her down.
Sophie’s eyes snapped open. She kicked out, forcing the maid to hastily release her grip. Sophie retracted her leg.
Her eyes grew cold as she snapped, "Don’t touch me with your filthy hands!"
"Ha ha, you really think you’re the mistress now? Maniac, I’m warning you: if you haven’t prepared Gabriel’s fodder and fed him by 5 p.m., you’ll face the consequences!"
The maid, infuriated, began to make threats.
After all, she knew Minimus Hart was on her side. Even if she secretly targeted the maniac, Minimus Hart would smooth things over for her. Besides, the maniac was notoriously arrogant and held grudges. Many of the maids had suffered because of her. This was a perfect opportunity to get revenge for everyone, and she wouldn’t waste it.
Sophie smiled coldly. Her distant eyes, devoid of warmth, regarded the maid with calm restraint. "I’m rather looking forward to these ’consequences’ you speak of."
"If you don’t get it done by 5 p.m. as required, I’ll make sure your ’anticipation’ becomes reality."
Sophie’s gaze swept lightly over the other two maidens; they hadn’t uttered a word. It was only this particular maid who was so incredibly arrogant.
"The bird that sticks its head out gets shot. Everyone else understands this principle, yet you’re still too foolish to see it."
Leaving behind this enigmatic remark, Sophie started walking towards the horse stable.
Harry, still on the haystack, hesitated for a moment before jumping down and trotting after Sophie.
The horse stable Sophie was responsible for housed Gabriel and three other horses.
Judging by their appearance, they were, without exception, priceless, well-bred steeds.
After preparing the fodder and Gabriel’s special food, Sophie poured it all into the feed troughs.
