Pampered by My Secret Husband
Chapter 167: Done Crying?
CHAPTER 167: CHAPTER 167: DONE CRYING?
Frank Mitchell gave her a roguish smile, his gaze intense.
「Half an hour later.」
In a private room of a secluded cafe, Amelia Shaw observed Frank Mitchell from head to toe. He didn’t look as destitute as she had imagined, even after going bankrupt. If anything, his clothing was no different from before. He still wore expensive, high-end custom luxury brands, and the limited-edition Patek Philippe on his wrist was worth a fortune.
He picked up his coffee and took a sip. "Samuel, how have you been lately?"
Amelia clenched her fists, countless questions flashing through her mind. "Frank, have you... have you already paid off your debts?"
When his company went bankrupt back then, he was saddled with huge debts. If it hadn’t been for those staggering debts, she wouldn’t have left him and returned to Thomas Shannon’s side. After all, she’d had some pride. When Thomas Shannon and Frank Mitchell pursued her simultaneously, she chose Frank Mitchell, who was inferior to Thomas Shannon in both appearance and wealth. It wasn’t for any other reason than Frank Mitchell being her type. As for Thomas Shannon... she found him difficult to handle. She never expected Frank Mitchell to go bankrupt and be burdened with enormous debts. Her good days were over. Only in her early twenties, she couldn’t possibly continue to bear the weight of his debts with him. Leaving him had been an inevitable choice. However, what truly shocked her was that someone burdened with such huge debts, who should have been utterly destitute, still appeared as suave and unaffected as before.
Frank Mitchell smiled but said nothing. He elegantly put down his coffee, leaned back, and casually regarded her. "So, you’ve returned to Thomas Shannon’s side now, haven’t you?"
Amelia felt as if she’d been seen through, with nowhere to hide her embarrassment.
"Why? Isn’t Thomas Shannon treating you well? You look terrible."
Frank Mitchell leaned in slightly, gazing at her face. Amelia dodged and turned away, but Frank Mitchell reached out and grabbed her jaw. "You’ve been crying?"
"Frank, let me go."
"HA HA. So, now that you’re with Thomas Shannon, you have to remain faithful to him?"
Amelia didn’t want to say more, nor did she want to know why Frank Mitchell had appeared in Imperial City. Whether he had paid off his debts or not had nothing to do with her anymore.
"I have something else to do. I have to go."
"Wait."
Frank Mitchell asked casually, "What’s your phone number?"
She had already changed her old number, wanting to make a clean break with the past.
Amelia’s back stiffened. She took a deep breath discreetly. "Frank, we’ve already parted amicably. There’s no need to stay in touch."
"So, Thomas Shannon has accepted you then?" Frank Mitchell was still smiling, but the smile didn’t reach his eyes.
"Frank Mitchell!"
Amelia spun around suddenly, glaring at him fiercely. "This has nothing to do with you."
Frank Mitchell stood up, looking down at her condescendingly. He clenched his teeth, grabbed her jaw with one hand, and tilted her head up. "You really are heartless, Samuel. What am I supposed to do with you, hmm?"
"Frank Mitchell, let me go!"
"And what if I say no?"
Amelia’s eyes reddened. "What more do you want from me? You couldn’t give me happiness; are you now trying to destroy the little peace I have left?"
Frank Mitchell’s breath caught in his throat. A flicker of something passed through his eyes, and he released her.
Tears welled in Amelia’s eyes. "Frank, we loved each other once. I hope we can part on good terms."
With that, she turned and quickly walked away.
Frank Mitchell stared blankly at her retreating figure. Part amicably?
