CHAPTER 196: CHAPTER 196: CAN YOU ACCOMPANY ME ON MY BIRTHDAY?

Time slipped through her fingers.

In the blink of an eye, the day of the surgery, scheduled for two days later, arrived.

Early in the morning, Sophie Sullivan made her preparations as per the doctor’s instructions.

When she arrived at the medical office, the doctor and nurse were ready. Seeing her pale face, the doctor comforted her, "Don’t be nervous. Take off the mask first."

Having removed the mask, Sophie was assisted onto the operating table by the nurse.

"Is there any risk?" Sophie asked tentatively.

Risk?

The doctor felt insulted. Anyone Young Master Shannon hired at great expense to be the manor’s full-time doctor would have unquestionable medical skills.

Never mind a minor vocal cord surgery; the doctor was fully capable of handling even major operations.

"Rest assured. Go to sleep, and you’ll be fine when you wake up."

Sophie was struggling internally. She stared directly at the doctor. "You must do your absolute best to restore it to eighty percent. I don’t want sixty percent."

The doctor was speechless.

This was the first time he had encountered such an assertive patient!

She definitely wasn’t the first person in the manor to make such demands of a doctor.

Young Master Shannon often threatened him, constantly disparaging him as an incompetent quack...

Unexpectedly, the maniac was gradually starting to follow Young Master Shannon’s example.

Threatening him!

The doctor turned his head away, took a deep breath, and tried to compose himself. "Just be quiet and wait for the surgery!"

Sophie was taken aback.

Isn’t doctor-patient communication supposed to be a crucial part of the process?

Why is he getting angry?

He’s so petty.

After being anesthetized, Sophie quickly lost consciousness.

The surgery began, the doctor and nurse working in perfect coordination.

Vocal cord repair surgery was neither major nor minor.

Sophie’s vocal cords were severely damaged. Although she had been taking medication to improve their condition before the surgery, they were still in a very bad state.

Fine beads of sweat formed on the doctor’s forehead, and the nurse periodically wiped them away.

The surgery, which lasted more than three hours, was finally over.

Sophie was wheeled out of the operating room and placed under a nurse’s care in a room within the medical office.

In the K Group’s First Conference Room, a lengthy meeting had just concluded. Charlie River said to the man beside him, "Young Master, the maniac had vocal cord repair surgery today."

"What?" Days of continual fatigue had made Thomas Shannon’s reaction somewhat sluggish.

Charlie River repeated what he had said. Thomas Shannon’s hand, which had been rubbing his forehead, stopped.

He turned his head, his deep eyes carrying a glint of coldness. "When did you say it was?"

"Today," Charlie River said. "The surgery is already over. The anesthesia hasn’t worn off yet, so the maniac hasn’t woken up."

Thomas Shannon stood up and walked out.

"Good evening, Young Master!"

Hearing the servant’s greeting, Amelia Shaw, who was sitting on the sofa, immediately stood up. "Mr. Shannon, you’re back?"

Thomas Shannon strode in from outside, his expression grim, and headed quickly upstairs without a glance in her direction.

The smile on Amelia Shaw’s face gradually stiffened at the corners of her mouth.

Did he not see me?

She clenched her fists. Unwilling to give up, she followed him and caught up with Thomas Shannon in the corridor.

"Mr. Shannon, I have something to tell you..."

Thomas Shannon paused, turned his head to give her a cold look. "What is it?"

"My birthday is in a few days... Could you spare some time to celebrate with me?"

Amelia Shaw cautiously watched his expression, nervously biting her lip.

"Birthday?" Thomas Shannon’s eyebrows furrowed slightly. If she hadn’t mentioned it, he would have forgotten.
