CHAPTER 208: CHAPTER 208: TELL ME, WHY AREN’T YOU HAPPY?

"Maniac, come here."

His deep, magnetic voice called out to her.

Only then did Sophie Sullivan gradually walk towards him and sit down in the empty spot beside him. His arm came to rest naturally on her shoulder.

"What would you like to eat?"

He moved the menu in front of her, letting her choose.

Sophie Sullivan glanced at the woman next to William Guillen. She thought of Fluffy Zane...

William Guillen’s smile was gentle, like that of a true gentleman. "Maniac," he said, "Thomas Shannon wants you to order. Why are you looking at me?"

"I wasn’t looking at you," Sophie Sullivan averted her gaze, scoffing disdainfully.

When she spoke, both William Guillen and Edward Benson were shocked to varying degrees.

William Guillen, in particular, stared at Sophie Sullivan unblinkingly. "Maniac, are you wearing a voice changer?"

Sophie Sullivan glared at him angrily. Can’t he talk?! This was her own voice!

Thomas Shannon chuckled. "Lan Singh, you’ll make her angry if you say that."

"Why?"

"She had vocal cord surgery."

A single short sentence from him dispelled Edward Benson’s and William Guillen’s confusion.

The vocal cord surgery had restored her original voice.

So, this soft, gentle, and so sweet it tugged at one’s heartstrings, voice was actually the maniac’s real voice?

"Thomas," William Guillen chuckled, embracing the pure woman beside him. "You’ve really found a treasure."

Thomas Shannon’s lips hooked into a smile as he turned his head to look at Sophie Sullivan. "What do you want to eat, hmm?"

She didn’t know if it was her imagination, but she felt that when Thomas Shannon asked this, his voice carried a hint of... doting?

She shook her head and tugged at the corner of her mouth. It must be her imagination.

After glancing at the menu, she casually ordered a few dishes and handed the menu to the waiter.

Thomas Shannon poured her a glass of red wine and handed it to her. "Why, are you upset?"

"Am I being that obvious?"

Thomas Shannon was momentarily speechless. So she really was upset?

Sophie Sullivan accepted the red wine and took a sip. Thomas Shannon chuckled softly. "Tell me, why are you upset?"

"You brought me out to dinner just to show them off?"

"Show off what?"

"Me."

Thomas Shannon’s gaze deepened as he studied her with keen interest. "You’re that confident? That you’re already worthy of me showing off?"

"Isn’t William Guillen’s reaction the best proof?"

Don’t forget, William Guillen just said he’d found a treasure. If this treasure wasn’t her, who else could it be?

Thomas Shannon sneered. "Sharp-tongued."

He averted his gaze and continued discussing their previous topic with William Guillen and Edward Benson.

Sophie Sullivan leaned back against the chair back, bored, looking out at the dazzling night view of the Imperial City outside the window.

"Elder Sister, would you like some of these?"

The well-behaved woman next to William Guillen pushed a plate of fresh cherries towards her.

Honestly, in theory, Sophie Sullivan shouldn’t dislike this woman; she was innocent.

But Sophie Sullivan just couldn’t bring herself to like any of William Guillen’s female companions, perhaps because she was angry on Fluffy Zane’s behalf.

In any case, Sophie Sullivan remained silent, not even glancing at the pure woman.

"Young Master Guillen, I think I’ve caused trouble." The woman timidly tugged William Guillen’s sleeve, looking at him with tear-filled eyes.

Her pitiable, heart-wrenching appearance was enough to melt any man’s heart.

William Guillen smiled gently, patting her head with one hand. "Charlotte, what’s wrong?"

"I think I made Elder Sister angry..."

She anxiously stole a glance at Sophie Sullivan, whose expression was cold.
