"I’ll give those words right back to you: don’t push it too far. We had no grudges or enmity to begin with; it was you who provoked me first. What you’re going through now is nothing more than the retribution you deserve."

If Amelia Shaw hadn’t attempted to kill her, the person Sophie would be dealing with now would have been Minimus Hart, not Amelia Shaw.

Originally, Sophie could have just watched from the sidelines, but unfortunately, her comfortable daily life had been too uneventful; she wanted some excitement.

Amelia Shaw smirked viciously. "Thomas Shannon hates it when women play tricks and schemes in front of him. What you’ve done, once discovered by Thomas Shannon, will make your end even worse than mine!"

Anyone who didn’t know the truth would really think her words represented Thomas Shannon’s genuine thoughts.

Sophie Sullivan delicately tapped her chin, hesitating. "Would you be very surprised if I told you that Thomas Shannon already knows I staged the whole thing myself?"

Amelia Shaw gazed at her in disbelief, stumbling back a couple of steps as if she had seen a ghost.

She didn’t believe it!

She didn’t believe that Thomas Shannon, knowing the maniac had schemed to frame her, would still spare that maniac.

She couldn’t believe he would let her remain unharmed, even allowing her to dress splendidly and accompany him to the banquet.

The maniac must be lying to deceive and provoke her!

Sophie Sullivan laughed softly, a gentle and non-threatening sound. "I said, Thomas Shannon already knows I was the one behind that affair. Otherwise, do you think he would have let you out just because he couldn’t bear to keep you locked up?"
