CHAPTER 281: CHAPTER 283: WHAT ARE YOU AFRAID OF?

Given the situation at the scene, this fire would undoubtedly cause heavy casualties.

Amelia Shaw picked up the remote control, switched channels, brewed herself some fruit tea, and relished the freshly baked snacks, feeling quite content.

Due to the urgency of her departure, Sophie Sullivan had not yet removed the iodine on her face with alcohol.

She went to the medical office, got some alcohol, and wiped the iodine off her face.

Afterward, she returned to the castle, intending to change out of the patient clothes she was wearing.

As soon as she stepped into the castle, she heard Amelia Shaw’s laughter.

Amelia seemed delighted, and her laughter was unrestrained.

Sophie approached and glanced at Amelia, who met her gaze.

Time seemed to stand still.

The Portuguese tart in Amelia’s hand dropped to the ground with a THUD.

She stared at Sophie in shock, as if she had seen a ghost.

Sophie cast a cold glance at her and then averted her gaze, quickly going upstairs.

She needed to change her clothes as fast as she could and then head to the medical office.

Amelia Shaw’s heart raced. How was this possible? How could the maniac have returned completely unharmed? It must have been my eyes playing tricks on me just now, it must have!

Looking dazed and utterly bewildered, Amelia stood up and went upstairs. Sophie had just taken off her clothes when the bedroom door was suddenly pushed open without warning.

Subconsciously grabbing her clothes to cover her body, Sophie turned around and snapped, "Who told you to come in?"

She can talk... She’s human, not a ghost...

Amelia Shaw’s face was pale, her hand gripping the door handle so tightly her knuckles whitened. How is this possible? Wasn’t she undergoing surgery? With the fire so fierce, how could she have returned unscathed?

Numerous questions raced through Amelia’s mind. By then, Sophie had already changed her clothes. She placed a hand on Amelia’s shoulder and pushed her out of the bedroom.

She stood there, arms crossed, her gaze cold. "Amelia Shaw, what are you afraid of?"

"What?"

"The way you looked at me, it was as if you’d seen a ghost... Have you done something to give yourself a guilty conscience again?"

Amelia quickly composed herself, her brow furrowing in annoyance. "You’re so narrow-minded. I was genuinely concerned about you, yet you slander me like this!"

"Concern? Did I hear that correctly?"

Sophie sneered, "You’d love it if I were dead. Why would you be concerned about me?"

"Believe what you want."

Amelia turned around and left, going back to her own bedroom.

Sophie didn’t bother with her and hurried downstairs, heading straight to the medical office.

Back in the refuge of her bedroom, Amelia clutched her chest with one hand, quietly letting out a sigh of relief.

Hopefully, the maniac won’t overthink things. But even if she does, it’s useless. She has no evidence; it would all be in vain.

「In the medical office」

The long surgery finally ended.

Thomas Shannon was moved into a room. William Guillen and Edward Benson immediately stepped forward to inquire about his condition.

The doctor was explaining Thomas Shannon’s condition to the two men, while Sophie sat by the bedside, gazing at Thomas Shannon.

She had always thought him arrogant and domineering, practically all-powerful. But now she realized that there was a reason he always traveled with an entourage of black-clothed bodyguards. Although he was an arms dealer capable of manufacturing large quantities of weapons, he had also become a thorn in the side of certain people. They were eager to eliminate him.

Charlie River spoke to William Guillen and Edward Benson, "Young Master Guillen, Young Master Benson, the maniac and I will look after him here. You two should go and rest. The Young Master should be fine."

William Guillen nodded slightly. He looked at Sophie with some doubt. "Are you sure the maniac will take care of Thomas Shannon, and not seize the opportunity to try something nefarious?"
