CHAPTER 1078: CHAPTER 1078: THE FIERCE AN YIQING (1)

"Gu..."

Just as An Zhifeng was about to voice his opposition, An Yiqing shot him a fierce glare, and he immediately clamped his mouth shut.

Forget it, since the young miss agrees, there’s no room for their objection. When it’s time to enter the forest, they’ll just strive to stay close to her.

Gu Yelin’s lips were pressed thin, giving An Zhifeng a cold glance.

"Since no one has any objections, the mission will start after five minutes!"

A hundred people hurried to find their respective small teams; each group comprised ten members, amounting to ten groups in total. Including An Yiqing, that would make eleven groups.

An Zhihang and An Zhiyan, the brothers, were assigned to An Zhifeng’s and An Zhiyun’s teams, respectively. Gu Yelin arranged this because each team had its strengths and weaknesses.

Only under intense pressure can one stimulate potential and compensate for their shortcomings.

Five minutes later, the eleven small teams shouldered their packs and entered the forest one after another.

When An Yiqing, as the independent eleventh team, walked in, Gu Yelin’s lips subtly moved.

An Yiqing paused, then without looking back, she entered.

She heard it, just now Ah Lin’s reminder, "Be careful, I’ll be waiting for your return."

To prevent the teams from clustering together, Gu Yelin and the others had created four routes; the maps received by the eleven small teams were all different. Also, their departure times were staggered.

Once everyone entered the forest, the eleven small teams dispersed, and for quite a while, none encountered another.

An Yiqing, carrying her pack, wandered alone in the forest. The woods were lush, dense foliage overhead blocked out the sunlight, only speckled light filtered through, creating a breathtaking pattern.

As it was a wild forest, usually unattended, the ground was covered with thick weeds, and not even a small cleared path existed.

It seems this place is truly seldom visited; An Yiqing walked on, noting that the weeds all around were undisturbed.

Dah—Dah—Dah—

The sound of combat boots on wild grasses made a soft noise. Except for bird calls and cicada songs, the forest was silent and tranquility reigned.

On the surface, it appeared to be a lovely spot for a spring outing or a stroll.

But...

Her steps slowed, and An Yiqing’s lips curled into a faint cold smile. With a flick of her right hand, a combat knife with its blade exposed dropped precisely from her sleeve into her hand.

She turned around, tiptoeing lightly, her body bending backward at an incredible angle!

The combat knife in her right hand flew out fiercely, halting a shadow in mid-air where An Yiqing had just stood!

With a flash of the knife’s cold light, the shadow uncontrollably fell from the sky, crashing heavily to the ground!

It turned out to be a green snake about as thick as a baby’s arm and over one meter long—a bamboo viper! Its entire body was green, and its blood-red snake eyes were filled with a chilling coldness.

The bamboo viper has a relatively large head, shaped like a triangle. Its neck is thin, with a grass-green back and a slightly lighter belly, sometimes straw-yellow. A white longitudinal stripe runs down each side of its body past the neck, made of scales, and can also be red and white or yellow. The tail is short, reddish, and prehensile. They are mostly found in moist mountain forests or beside shady streams within the altitude range of 500 to 2000 meters, often perching on the shrubs and weeds, rocks by stream banks, or in rice paddy embankments of mountainous areas, as well as near pile of firewood or melon trellises by houses.

The bamboo viper is not the most venomous snake, but a bite can cause a burning sensation, nausea, and dizziness. If not treated timely, it can lead to muscle and nerve necrosis and atrophy, and might even result in permanent disability.
