Path of Alchemy Mastery
Chapter 40 - 40 40 I am Purple Cloud
40: Chapter 40 I am Purple Cloud 40: Chapter 40 I am Purple Cloud “What are you afraid of?
Relax, I won’t kill you.” Purple Cloud didn’t have the same patience for the Martial Pavilion Elder as she did for Mu Can.
She had long found the Martial Pavilion Elder disagreeable, and now with the opportunity at hand, it would be a waste not to toy with him, considering how he had made light of her before.
“Stay away from me.” The wheel of fortune turns; the Martial Pavilion Elder, who had treated Mu Can like a fish on a chopping board before, had quickly swapped roles, now tasting the bitterness Mu Can had faced.
Purple Cloud glanced at Mu Can and said, “Kid, let me explain something to you.
Human World beings wishing to ascend to the Immortal World must first endure the Heavenly Tribulation.
After surviving the Tribulation, their souls will be reborn and cleansed.
This is also the most fundamental difference between Immortals of the Immortal World and Cultivators of the Mortal World.”
Holding a knife, Purple Cloud gestured over the Martial Pavilion Elder’s body, causing him to shiver in fright, almost crying out.
“How do you know so much?
You must indeed be an Immortal World being.” The Martial Pavilion Elder realized, these were things seldom known by people of the Mortal World.
“Heh,” Purple Cloud utterly disregarded the Martial Pavilion Elder’s question and continued looking at Mu Can, ready to carry on explaining.
“The path of cultivation for those from the Immortal World differs from Cultivators of the Mortal World.
Cultivators focus on the body, while Immortals focus on the soul.
However, if you can strengthen your Soul Power while in the Mortal World, it would be immensely beneficial to you, especially for a Pill Master.
During the Alchemy process, the strength of Soul Power is necessary; the stronger the Soul Power, the greater the control over the Dan Fire.”
While drawing the knife back and forth over the Martial Pavilion Elder’s body, Purple Cloud earnestly explained to Mu Can.
Mu Can was as engrossed as he was during lectures at the Immortal Ancient Academy, paying serious attention, completely oblivious to the Martial Pavilion Elder’s face, which had turned pale with fear.
“Sister Yun, if a Mortal World Cultivator enhances the strength of their soul, does that make them stronger than others?” Mu Can’s eyes lit up as he listened and asked.
Throwing Mu Can an approving look, Purple Cloud answered, “Of course, that’s why many great families in the Mortal World prepare Elixirs that increase Soul Power for their younger members.
So, many prodigies you see may just have had more opportunities than you.”
“Who exactly are you?
Are you really a Pill Master?”
The Martial Pavilion Elder felt as though every second was like walking on the edge of a knife blade, his gaze constantly tracking Purple Cloud’s knife, dreading it might fall the next second.
To the Martial Pavilion Elder, Purple Cloud was an incredibly powerful and mysterious woman, and he was utterly terrified.
“So, how can one enhance the power of the soul?” Mu Can listened like an obedient child, focusing on Purple Cloud’s explanation.
Purple Cloud gently laid the blade on the Martial Pavilion Elder’s head and shaved off a lock of his hair.
It was still a mystery what material the knife in Purple Cloud’s hand was made of to even be able to harm the soul.
Seeing his hair drifting down before his eyes, the Martial Pavilion Elder nearly broke down crying.
A weapon that could harm the soul, it was the first he had seen in his life.
“Do you know what the ultimate realm of Alchemy Dao is?” Speaking about Alchemy transformed Purple Cloud as if she became another person; her face radiated with an inspired grace.
Mu Can had never seen Purple Cloud so enchanting; she was stunning beyond description.
In that moment, Purple Cloud was like the center of the world, utterly captivating Mu Can’s attention.
“What are you doing, I’m talking to you.” Noticing Mu Can’s distraction, Purple Cloud tapped the Elder’s face with the flat of the blade, producing a snapping sound.
“Huh?
Oh, Sister Yun, please continue.” Mu Can quickly became serious, almost wiping the drool from the corner of his mouth.
“I’m asking you what is the ultimate realm of Alchemy Dao?” Purple Cloud asked, slightly displeased.
Seeing Purple Cloud seemed a bit angry, Mu Can hurriedly responded, “The highest realm of Alchemy Dao is to refine Elixirs that allow one to ascend in broad daylight, right?”
Mentioning this, Mu Can also showed a face full of yearning, which made it clear just how esteemed the status of a Pill Master is in the Mortal World.
“No, in fact, the highest realm of Alchemy Dao is to use the heavens and earth as materials, and Spiritual Energy as a guide, to refine divine medicine.” Purple Cloud also spoke with a face full of longing.
Mu Can felt that his own strength limited his imagination; in his view, the materials for Alchemy were nothing more than various herbs and treasures of heaven and earth.
Now, Purple Cloud suddenly told him that even the mountains and rivers of the world could be used in Alchemy, which, to Mu Can, seemed as unreal as a fairy tale.
“Yun Yi, have you seen it?” Mu Can asked with a face brimming with desire.
Even the Elder of the Martial Pavilion, who had been quietly afraid, pricked up his ears, listening intently; these were things he did not know.
“I have had the fortune of witnessing it once; that Elixir had come to life, as if it had its own existence, already beyond the realm of mere elixirs.” Purple Cloud spoke with nostalgia, as crafting such an Elixir had always been her greatest aspiration.
“Who exactly are you?” The Elder of the Martial Pavilion interrupted Purple Cloud’s reverie, no longer afraid upon hearing this.
His life and death were already beyond his control, and the mysterious woman before him must hold a status far beyond his imagination.
The Elder of the Martial Pavilion’s curiosity about this woman had actually surpassed his fear of death.
“Why would the Mu Family allow some of their clan members to escape to the Mortal World?” Purple Cloud looked mockingly at the Elder of the Martial Pavilion and asked indifferently.
Upon hearing the question, the Elder of the Martial Pavilion’s eyes widened in disbelief, as if he had realized something.
“Are you Purple Cloud Immortal Venerable?
Weren’t you dead?” The Elder of the Martial Pavilion nearly bit his own tongue, asking in shock.
His eyes were filled with astonishment and disbelief, his mouth agape as if big enough to fit an apple.
“At least you have some common sense,” Purple Cloud said with disdain, for she would have long slapped to death a person like the Elder of the Martial Pavilion if it weren’t for Mu Can.
She might have limited options outside, but inside the Reincarnation Pearl, Purple Cloud was the most powerful.
“Impossible, Purple Cloud Immortal Venerable has been dead for thousands of years.” The Elder of the Martial Pavilion uttered in disbelief.
Hearing this, Purple Cloud laughed heartily, “One day, I shall return to the Immortal World and give that person the shock of a lifetime.”
She seemed like a madwoman, as if her chronic headache had flared up again.
Seeing this, Mu Can quickly stepped forward and took hold of one of Purple Cloud’s hands, soothing her until she gradually regained her calm.
“Yun Yi, don’t worry, I’m here,” Mu Can assured her with a resolute gaze.
Yun Yi’s vengeance, one day, must be avenged.
“It’s okay.” I will return to the Heavenly Realm one day.
“Mad, completely mad,” the Elder of the Martial Pavilion muttered.
If the news that Purple Cloud was still alive were to spread back to the Immortal World, who knows what kind of uproar it would cause, and how many powerhouses would be restless.
But this piece of news is sure to remain unknown to anyone for a while.
