Path of Alchemy Mastery
Chapter 527 - 541: The Peculiar Mural
CHAPTER 527: CHAPTER 541: THE PECULIAR MURAL
"It shouldn’t be like this, there shouldn’t be such a scene inside this old lair," Wang Cai shook his head, wondering who would make their home look like a labyrinth.
It’s probable that if someone from inside tries to find their way to the toilet, they won’t be able to find their way back; in any case, both of them are now completely lost inside.
"What should we do now? You’re not reliable at all, you dog!" Mu Can looked at Wang Cai with displeasure.
It was no big deal losing a Spiritual Power Avatar, but losing the Explosive Pill here would mean he couldn’t produce a second one right now.
"Let’s search inside, I refuse to believe we can’t find the way out." Wang Cai was also determined, as a dog, getting lost would be embarrassing—if word got out, where would he put his face?
"We have no other choice then." Mu Can nodded; there were simply too many branching paths inside.
The two of them wound their way into a dead end, where they discovered a huge bronze cauldron.
"There’s a cauldron over there." Seeing something new for a change, Wang Cai immediately shouted out—they had finally found something different after walking for so long.
"Should we open the lid?" Mu Can examined the ancient-looking bronze cauldron, which had Inscriptions on it that Mu Can couldn’t understand at all.
"Wait, let me take a look at these inscriptions first," Wang Cai shook his head, suspecting that if the cauldron sealed a Great Demon and they opened it in this cave, he and Mu Can would have no place to escape.
"Do you recognize them?" Mu Can glanced at Wang Cai; the Inscriptions on the cauldron appeared profoundly enigmatic, and unexpectedly this Wang Cai was actually a scholarly dog.
"I learned a little when I was with the old master," Wang Cai said with pride. No one in the entire Supreme Realm understood these ancient characters better than the Heavenly Dao Thief.
"Amazing, truly a scholar among dogs, quickly translate what’s written here for me," Mu Can eagerly said.
Wang Cai circled the Big Cauldron but shook his head, seemingly puzzled.
"What’s the matter?" Mu Can asked upon seeing Wang Cai shake his head.
"It shouldn’t be like this. If I’m not mistaken, the text on this cauldron should be from at least the previous epoch. It tells a little story," Wang Cai shook his head, as if still doubting his own eyes.
"What story? Just spit it out!" Mu Can was so impatient he almost kicked Wang Cai aside—what a time for suspense!
"The inscriptions record a tale from the previous epoch when there was a mad old man who cultivated both sun and moon, which probably refers to Yin Yang. He then barged into the no-man’s land wreaking havoc. It took a lot of effort for the no-man’s land’s forces to finally seal him inside this cauldron, yet they still couldn’t kill him."
The Inscriptions were not lengthy, and often a single inscription could contain a long and profound meaning. Wang Cai had tried his best to translate it.
"Are you saying there’s a member of the Human Clan sealed inside?" Mu Can asked in disbelief.
For one to have stormed into the no-man’s land and turned the place into a river of blood was an incredibly dominating deed.
Wang Cai nodded. If the Inscriptions on the cauldron were true, then that was the interpretation Wang Cai provided.
"This is a treasure then." Mu Can circled the cauldron twice. If the cauldron really sealed such a fearsome entity, it would definitely be a powerful weapon when utilized correctly.
"As per the records, the old man inside seems to have gone mad due to his cultivation, unable to distinguish friend from foe. Before completely losing his sanity, he chose to enter the no-man’s land alone. It seems that even in the previous epoch, the no-man’s land was a place of great danger," Wang Cai confirmed. If Mu Can indeed wanted to take the cauldron with him, it would be a double-edged sword.
If used improperly, it could easily lead to casualties on their side. However, if they managed to open this cauldron in the enemies’ lair, it would certainly cause destruction amongst their ranks.
"Let me try to collect it." Mu Can dared not open the lid of the cauldron; if he released the mad old man inside, they might be the first to suffer.
To Mu Can’s surprise, he effortlessly collected the cauldron into the ring.
"Are you reliable? Why was it so easy to collect?" Mu Can looked at Wang Cai in disbelief, starting to question the reality of the situation.
"I’m definitely reliable, but I can’t know whether what’s recorded on this cauldron is true or false," Wang Cai shook his head. He was only responsible for translating the Inscriptions; how would he know if they were factual or not?
Even the Heavenly Dao Thief didn’t know about the events of that epoch—it was not surprising that he was unaware.
"Let’s explore further, and if it doesn’t work out, we’ll find a way to leave. This ring cannot afford to be lost." Mu Can handed Wang Cai the ring containing the cauldron for safekeeping.
If they encountered enemies, his avatar would control the Explosive Pill to detonate, while Wang Cai would find an opportunity to escape.
Having stored the cauldron, the two continued to explore the cave, but this time it was Mu Can who discovered something.
A man and a dog entered a place akin to a hall, only to discover bizarre things around the walls of the hall.
Those were walls built of skulls, the material so blindingly white that some even had a jade-like appearance.
"These skulls must be from creatures at least of the Wuwei Realm, but there should also be existences from the All Things Realm," Wang Cai said solemnly, examining the skull walls around them.
This place gave him a strange feeling. Who killed so many powerful beings, and their purpose was to build walls with their skulls?
"No, there’s a painting behind these walls," Mu Can spotted something hidden behind the skulls, and with Wang Cai moved towards it.
Behind the walls built of skulls were indeed murals on the cave walls.
"Let’s open it and see." Mu Can and Wang Cai exchanged a glance, these murals most likely recorded the origin of this cave, and might even reveal some secrets about the forbidden zone.
Both were heartily eager, gently moving the skulls in front of the wall aside, unveiling the mural on this first wall.
"Is this a story being depicted?" This time without needing Wang Cai to translate, Mu Can understood the mural on his own.
What was possibly the first mural depicted a marriage scene, where an incomparably beautiful woman waved goodbye to her family, turned to board a massive red bridal sedan, while her grieving relatives cried mournfully. Eerily, the bridal procession coming to pick up the woman all wore black masks, hiding everyone’s entire appearance under the masks.
"This does not seem like a typical wedding," Wang Cai observed closely and said.
If this were a scene from a normal wedding, the woman’s relatives wouldn’t be crying so sorrowfully, and the bridal procession wouldn’t be in such a guise—wearing black masks.
"Right, if this woman is from the Human Clan, then the bridal procession definitely isn’t," Mu Can nodded, agreeing with Wang Cai.
This was a peculiar wedding.
"Come on, let’s see what the next wall depicts," Mu Can led Wang Cai to another wall, and as expected, the following part of the wedding scene was recorded on this wall.
The red bridal sedan, led by a group of people wearing black masks, passed many strange places, even including a yellow river.
"Could that be the Yellow Springs?" Mu Can always felt a sense of familiarity with that river and quickly asked.
"I feel it could be, but if it is the Yellow Springs, then where did this woman end up getting married to?"
Wang Cai and Mu Can were both captivated by the bizarre mural.
The woman’s bridal sedan crossed the Yellow Springs, continued beyond the shore, even walked out of the Underworld, passed through a gate radiating seven colors of light, and entered it.
"This is a grand gesture, truly a grand gesture," Wang Cai exclaimed with only astonishment remaining in his heart.
"What do you mean?" Mu Can only knew about the Underworld, as for that Seven-colored Light Gate at the end, he had no idea what it was.
"If I’m not mistaken, that Seven-colored Light Gate could be the so-called Reincarnation," Wang Cai said while looking at the Light Gate.
A well-known issue, now the Reincarnation in the Supreme Interface has been damaged, no one knows what Reincarnation really is, but back then someone was able to pass through Reincarnation during a marriage, which is truly an incredible feat.
"What does it mean to pass through Reincarnation?" Mu Can still didn’t understand Wang Cai’s implication.
"Legend has it that by passing through the Reincarnation Gate, one could gain eternal life, and the old master never gave up on finding Reincarnation," Wang Cai said with a complex expression.
The disappearance of Reincarnation was a tremendous blow to the entire Supreme Interface.
It’s because Reincarnation vanished that those beings from the All Things Realm, when nearing the end of their lifespans, had no choice but to venture into the forbidden zone seeking a breakthrough.
"According to the records, if Reincarnation still existed, those from the All Things Realm, when near the end of their lives, could choose to enter Reincarnation, retain their memories, and start over," Wang Cai disclosed a shocking secret.
This secret was also a discovery made by the Heavenly Dao practitioner, and more so, why he placed Reincarnation City within the Reincarnation Pearl in the past was also with the intention of using the cycle within the city to fathom the true nature of Reincarnation.
"The old master wanted to reconstruct Reincarnation," Wang Cai revealed a situation that shocked Mu Can.
Including the Reincarnation Pearl, was an attempt made by the Heavenly Dao practitioner.
"Reincarnation? What exactly is Reincarnation?" Mu Can pondered and then asked.
Having had the Reincarnation Pearl for so long, Mu Can realized he truly didn’t understand what Reincarnation was.
