CHAPTER 548: CHAPTER 562 GENERAL

Mu Can also understood Wang Cai’s intention; it was impossible for him alone to take care of anything, so it was better to let everyone hide directly inside the Reincarnation Pearl.

With no one to disturb him, Mu Can pushed his speed to the ultimate limit, even leaving afterimages in the air. However, in a world engulfed in darkness, it was impossible to see clearly where Mu Can was.

It was only through sensing the living that those Undead Creatures could determine Mu Can’s direction and furiously chase after him. But as Mu Can drew progressively closer to that faint light, his mood gradually relaxed.

Although he did not know his whereabouts, Mu Can was certain that he had been transported to a special space in an uninhabited area—a completely dark world without stars, the moon, or even the sun, void of any life except for those skeletons.

This must be an entirely Undead world, and the light appearing before Mu Can’s eyes might be the only safe place in it. No Undead liked the light.

"Hopefully it’s true that no Undead like the light," Mu Can squinted his eyes. As the distance decreased, Mu Can discovered the source of the light: a gigantic fortified city.

"It seems that there must be living beings in this world." Mu Can did not believe those skeletons could have built such a great city.

As he approached, the full view of the great city was unveiled before Mu Can.

A city with walls nearly thirty meters high, Mu Can could even see giant defense weapons on top of the walls, giant crossbows glinting with cold light, and even rows of Magic Cannons.

As Mu Can ran ahead into the city’s perimeter, the Undead Army that had been pursuing him relentlessly also gradually stopped, as if they recognized the difficulty of the city and stopped their advance.

Except for a few Commanders who were reluctant to give up, the rest of the Undead had already started to turn around, retreating the way they had come.

"Damn it, that almost killed me," Mu Can stood in front of the city gate, gasping for breath.

It felt incredibly awesome; anyone pursued by an Undead Army of over a hundred thousand Undying would look exactly like him right now.

"Scram." Mu Can raised his middle finger to the Commanders who had been fiercely chasing him.

Just a moment ago, he was almost caught by those brazen Commanders. Mu Can could even feel the breathing of the Commanders behind him.

But he managed to break away quickly with the White Bone Stick; he forcefully threw the White Bone Stick forward, using its gravity to sprint forward for a distance.

Without the White Bone Stick, if Mu Can had been caught by those Undead Creatures, he would have been engulfed by the whole Undead Army, and he would have had no other option but to hide inside the Reincarnation Pearl.

By then, his life would no longer be under his own control.

"Damn it!" Mu Can cursed and flipped the bird again.

Although they did not comprehend Mu Can’s gesture, the Commanders still lingered, their White Bone warhorses making several deathly sounds and even charging towards Mu Can.

The brief confrontation had informed Mu Can of the Commanders’ strength; they were definitely at the Peak of the All Things Realm, and coupled with their Undying trait, they could utterly defeat multiple Mu Cans.

Even if Toad made a move, it would be game over. Mu Can had no ace up his sleeve to deal with these kinds of Undead Creatures.

These beings were simply unkillable.

Seeing a row of Undead Commanders charging towards him, Mu Can felt his heart tighten. If he let them come closer, he might have to hide inside the Reincarnation Pearl.

Unfortunately, as the Undead Commanders charged, the giant crossbows on the city walls shot out streaks of cold light, pinning them to the ground. A flash of silver light passed, and the Undead on the ground directly turned into ashes. Under the illumination of this white light, it was incredibly terrifying.

"This giant crossbow actually possesses such power." Mu Can was also secretly alarmed. If the giant crossbow had fired at him just now, he probably wouldn’t even have had the chance to hide inside the Reincarnation Pearl.

However, the outcome was still good. Without exerting much effort, he had resolved the crisis brought by the Undead Creatures.

Unfortunately, after the automatic firing of the giant crossbows, huge light sources lit up the entire city wall.

Groups of soldiers appeared on the city wall, their weapons directly aimed at Mu Can.

"Who are you?" A person dressed as a General asked Mu Can.

"General, I am a passerby from the outside, chased here by the Undead."

Mu Can said with a fist salute, not daring to face so many engineer giant crossbows.

After all, these were weapons capable of easily killing an Undead Commander; he did not wish to test their power with his own body.

"An outsider?" The person dressed as a General looked at Mu Can. He sensed something different about Mu Can in an instant.

This guy must have come from the outside world, but wasn’t the coordinate to this world erased long ago?

Even a True God could not save them, but Mu Can’s appearance now was indeed great news for the General.

Perhaps what Mu Can possessed was enough to enable them to retake this world and even save everyone inside the city.

"Open the gate, let him in." After only a short time of thought, the General made a decision.

Mu Can’s strength was only at the Peak of the police force level, and in comparison to the strength within the city, it probably counted for nothing.

Even if they let him in, he could not make any significant waves.

The city gates slowly opened. Mu Can let out a sigh of relief. Although he didn’t know what he was going to face, at least he knew that for now, his life was spared.

"Come in." A group of soldiers surged out, their weapons directly aimed at Mu Can, escorting him into the city.

The city doors slowly closed, and everything gradually returned to tranquility.

"Someone, take him to be locked up first and check if he’s been infected," the General said, watching Mu Can enter the city with a slight smile on his face.

It didn’t matter if you didn’t come in, but once you did, all your secrets would surely belong to this General.

"Why?" Mu Can looked at the General and asked. What exactly was this infection? Could it be that those Undead Creatures, those skeletons, are the result of an infection?

No one answered Mu Can’s question.
