Path of Alchemy Mastery
Chapter 553 - 567: The Control Center of the Array
CHAPTER 553: CHAPTER 567: THE CONTROL CENTER OF THE ARRAY
"Where on earth is this place?" Mu Can showed a helpless expression.
He merely seized a Qilin Species, yet not only was he unable to use it, he was sent to this forsaken place.
Thinking of this, Mu Can’s gaze towards Wang Cai grew increasingly unfriendly, finding this dog utterly unreliable.
"This is merely one aspect of utilizing an Array; the path of Arrays is akin to Alchemy Dao, both having no limits. Imagine, if someone could use stars and seas to lay out an Array, just how powerful that Array would be."
Upon noticing that Li Shan had fallen into deep thought, Wang Cai continued.
"Alchemy Dao, what is that?" Li Shan asked.
"Alchemy Dao is not something you need to worry about; you just need to excel in learning the Array."
Wang Cai didn’t explain what Alchemy Dao was.
"I understand, I’ll definitely work hard on learning the Array." Li Shan nodded her head, having already been captivated by the marvel of the Array.
Then, Wang Cai went on to share some knowledge about Arrays, while Mu Can sat to the side, studying the Spiritual Artifact in his hands.
These kinds of things are so common in this world, has no one ever researched what exactly they consist of?
Such mysterious Arrays, even in the Supreme Interface, he had never seen them, but here, in a place without even a single Cultivator, such enigmatic Arrays emerged—what was going on?
"Li Shan, did you say these Spiritual Artifacts were all obtained from the ruins?" Mu Can asked.
He felt it necessary to explore the ruins mentioned by Li Shan, sure he might uncover some clues about this world.
If he could not find a way to leave, Mu Can would have to rely on Wang Cai’s Transmission Array again, which was not what he wanted.
"Just a few dozen miles outside the city there are some ruins, and most of the Spiritual Artifacts in this city were obtained there." Li Shan answered, having long considered Mu Can her savior.
No sooner had Li Shan finished speaking than Mu Can involved Wang Cai and the Toad in the Array, concealing their presence.
"Is Shan there?" A middle-aged man’s voice sounded from outside the door; it was the City Lord, apparently alarmed by the General’s people inspecting the City Lord Mansion.
"Father, I’m here, what’s wrong?" After calming herself, Li Shan opened the door.
A somewhat portly middle-aged man walked in, looking at Li Shan with concern.
"Shan, are you alright? That General is utterly unreasonable," the middle-aged man coldly spoke.
As the City Lord, being pushed to such a state by his own subordinates was embarrassing.
But his power was overshadowed; aside from controlling the city, he had no match for the General’s influence and could only bow his head.
"It’s nothing. Dad, I want to look at our City Control Spiritual Artifact," Li Shan said, eyeing the indulgent City Lord.
She wanted to check the City Control Spiritual Artifact for a simple reason, to let Mu Can help verify her suspicions.
Is it possible that the entire city is a massive Array, as they had guessed?
"Why look at that?" The middle-aged man asked; his daughter had never been interested in cultivation, so why suddenly this interest in the City Control Spiritual Artifact?
"I want to study how this artifact works. Isn’t it said that in other cities, the Undead Creatures killed by the city are used to strengthen the holder of the artifact? Why can’t our city do the same?" Li Shan asked.
This was a key reason behind their weak power; in other cities, the City Lord is usually the most powerful person there.
The reason is simple; any Undead Creatures near the city get killed by the city, and the power absorbed from these creatures is transferred to the City Lord.
It’s because there’s some issue with this city’s Control Spirit Artifact that they don’t provide power to the City Lord from slain Undead Creatures, which led the General’s family to overpower him, even so much as to oppress the City Lord Mansion.
If not for the concerns of the City Lord lineage fighting to the death, even this City Lord Mansion would hardly be safeguardable.
"Sigh, I don’t know what went wrong," the middle-aged man sighed, pulling out a Jade Pendant from his pocket and handing it to Li Shan.
The problem with the Control Spiritual Artifact started two years ago, suddenly unable to draw any power through it.
And it was also when the General’s lineage began to rise.
"That’s fine, Dad, go out; I need to study what’s wrong with this thing!"
After getting the item, Li Shan pushed the middle-aged man out, though puzzled, the City Lord left shaking his head.
He had never been a strong person, otherwise, even without the Control Spiritual Artifact, the situation wouldn’t have become so dire.
When a tiger falls flat, even dogs bully it; in this world, the most powerful person should be the City Lord of each city, but in this city, the situation was completely different.
Sensing the middle-aged man had left, Mu Can waved his hand and dispelled the Array, and they appeared in front of Li Shan again.
Li Shan handed the Jade Pendant to Mu Can, who observed it and found, just as he had guessed, it was a control center for an Array, but what exactly the problem was, he couldn’t tell.
Having no choice, Mu Can handed the Jade Pendant to Wang Cai, who was calmly drinking tea to the side.
"Kid, learn from this, matters concerning Array, you still need to ask me more about," Wang Cai arrogantly said, his tail nearly pointing to the sky.
"Hurry up and see what’s the situation," Mu Can slapped Wang Cai’s head; this dog, with all that’s happening, still acts coy, not smacking him would be letting himself down after being transported by him to this eerie place.
"Quack quack! Stop pretending," the Toad quacked.
"Oh?" Wang Cai glanced at the Toad, ignoring him, and focused intently on studying the Jade Pendant.
The Jade Pendant, just as Mu Can had guessed, controls the entire city’s center, but the inner construction was somewhat beyond his understanding.
He didn’t know where exactly the problem was; the functionality of this Array Formation Control Center seemed to be restricted by someone.
But in this place, devoid of any Cultivator, who could alter the construction of this Array?
Wang Cai glanced at Mu Can, sensing that the situation was not simple. There must be something hidden here, and this concealed truth might relate to a massive secret.
"How is it? Figured anything out?" Mu Can looked at Wang Cai.
This dog must have discovered something, otherwise, he wouldn’t have such an expression.
