CHAPTER 1420: CHAPTER 1421: YES, YOU TWO

After stripping the uniforms off the two soldiers, An Jing hid their bodies in a pitch-black corner. If one didn’t search carefully, it would be impossible to discover that there were two corpses there.

Then, An Jing climbed back to Li Wuyu’s side with the two sets of uniforms and the soldiers’ weapons — spears — in hand.

"Put them on!" An Jing handed one set of the Chilin soldiers’ uniforms to Li Wuyu and wrote these two words on Li Wuyu’s palm.

Li Wuyu obediently put on the Chilin soldiers’ uniform without hesitation.

An Jing also changed into the uniform.

Immediately after, An Jing placed a cap worn by Chilin soldiers on Li Wuyu’s head and also handed her a spear.

With their disguises complete, Li Wuyu didn’t need to ask to know An Jing’s plan: to pose as Chilin soldiers and walk ’openly’ around the military camp.

Just then, a squad of patrolling soldiers passed by. An Jing quickly pulled Li Wuyu to follow at the very tail end of the patrol.

As soon as they joined the column, Li Wuyu’s heart shot up to her throat, terrified that someone would discover that she and An Jing were two fake Chilin soldiers.

An Jing, however, was calm and composed, walking steadily along with the soldiers in front.

Li Wuyu followed behind An Jing, watching her stay so collected that she seemed like a genuine member of the patrol squad. She did her best to calm herself as well.

Trailing the patrol squad as they wandered through this camp and that, An Jing roughly memorized the layout of the camp before pulling Li Wuyu away from the patrol squad.

The patrol squad was clueless, never noticing they had two more people in their ranks, and simply continued to patrol their assigned route diligently.

Once An Jing exited from the patrol squad, she led Li Wuyu to hide behind a tent where no light was lit. After carefully surveying their surroundings, she boldly emerged with Li Wuyu.

She intended to explore the camp, hoping to overhear or discover something useful.

Li Wuyu’s heart remained lodged in her throat as she mustered her courage to walk with An Jing through the Chilin military camp.

Luckily, even with lit torches, the camp remained rather dim, and Li Wuyu and An Jing were both of average height, unlike Ye Zhi’s petite frame. Dressed in the Chilin soldiers’ uniforms, donning their caps, and carrying their spears, they indeed resembled Chilin soldiers perfectly.

Since it was late night, there were only a few conversations happening outside the tents. An Jing and Li Wuyu walked around for quite some time but didn’t overhear anything useful.

An Jing was thinking about entering a tent to investigate, especially the General’s tent—or better yet, the Great General’s tent. However, she had no idea which tent belonged to whom among the multitude of tents.

Moreover, even if she knew, she dared not rashly barge in.

As An Jing and Li Wuyu passed by a rather large tent, acting like regular Chilin soldiers, the fabric door of the tent was suddenly lifted, and a soldier who appeared to be high-ranking stepped out holding a teapot.

An Jing acted as though she hadn’t seen anything and intended to continue walking forward.

But as soon as the high-ranking soldier emerged, he strode straight toward them and stopped them. "You two. Yes, you two."

Li Wuyu immediately held her breath, hardly daring to exhale.

An Jing, although still outwardly composed, was inwardly a bit tense.

"The Great General is thirsty and wants water. Go fetch some immediately," the high-ranking soldier said as he shoved the teapot into An Jing’s hands. "Those two soldiers who were supposed to serve tea and water to the Great General are nowhere to be found. When they get back, the Great General will make sure they pay dearly!"
