CHAPTER 1185: CHAPTER 1181: TAKING RESPONSIBILITY VOLUNTARILY

"Hey, wait a minute!"

Wu Kexin let go of her hand: "What’s wrong?"

Chen Yang chuckled and pointed at the stockings in the corner: "Take those too, won’t you?"

Wu Kexin looked in the direction Chen Yang was pointing, and upon seeing the stockings, the blush that had disappeared from her face instantly reappeared.

"Why would I take those? I’m not going to wear them!"

Wu Kexin said shyly.

Chen Yang had a mischievous grin: "You won’t wear them tomorrow, but you can wear them tonight, so take them with you."

As he spoke, Chen Yang reached out and took out the black stockings from the corner.

Wu Kexin understood what Chen Yang meant and immediately felt extremely shy, her face turning red down to her ears.

But she said nothing, which was considered a silent agreement.

Seeing that Wu Kexin didn’t say anything, Chen Yang smiled and helped her close the cabinet door, and then they both left the village center and returned to the clinic.

On the way back to the clinic, Chen Yang made a point of checking the situation in the fields.

He found that the fields had restored their tranquility, with no lights.

It looked like the police had finished collecting evidence and had left.

The villagers had also gone back to their homes.

Seeing this, Chen Yang didn’t think much and directly took Wu Kexin back to the clinic, closed the door, and went to take a shower...

In the blink of an eye, it was the next day.

Because of what happened last night, Wu Kexin was in particularly good spirits today, radiant, with an unusually beautiful aura.

"Kexin, you look pretty today."

Chen Yang stood by the bed and spoke to Wu Kexin, who was sitting on the edge of the bed putting on her shoes.

Wu Kexin heard these words and immediately shyly glared at Chen Yang.

She certainly understood what Chen Yang meant by those words...

"Let’s throw this away, it’s not good if someone sees it."

After putting on her shoes, Wu Kexin handed the stockings she’d brought over last night on the bedside table to Chen Yang.

"Okay."

Chen Yang smiled as he took the wrinkled stockings and then turned to leave the room.

When he was lighting a fire in the kitchen to prepare breakfast, he casually threw the stockings into the fire pit.

Knock knock knock...

Just as Chen Yang finished preparing breakfast, suddenly there was the sound of knocking at the clinic door.

It was only 8 o’clock, still quite early.

Someone knocking on the door at this time surprised Chen Yang.

"Chen Yang, someone is knocking on the door, go take a look." When Chen Yang heard the sound and was about to go to check, Wu Kexin walked from the backyard to the kitchen door, telling Chen Yang to open the door.

"Alright, the breakfast is ready, you can eat first, I’ll go check."

Chen Yang nodded immediately, then left the kitchen, went through the inner room, and opened the clinic’s shutters.

Originally, Chen Yang was wondering who it might be; he opened the door and found Wang Hong had come.

"Aunt Wang, why are you here so early, is there something up?" Chen Yang asked Wang Hong with a smile.

Wang Hong looked very guilty and said: "Yang Zi, Auntie came to apologize."

Chen Yang didn’t immediately understand when he heard this.

"Apologize? What’s wrong, Auntie, why are you apologizing to me?" Chen Yang asked in confusion.

"I heard about yesterday’s incident today. I’m in charge of the temperature-controlled room, and something like that happening yesterday evening means I bear some responsibility. It’s really embarrassing, causing you such a big loss." Wang Hong appeared very remorseful, apologizing while hanging her head, not daring to meet Chen Yang’s eyes.

Chen Yang realized afterward why Wang Hong was apologizing.

"Aunt Wang, don’t say it like that. You only manage the people collecting wild mushrooms; safety isn’t your responsibility, and no one would have expected such a thing to happen at night, right? It’s not your fault, don’t burden yourself with it." Chen Yang quickly assured Wang Hong that the matter wasn’t her responsibility.

He wanted to prevent Wang Hong from having a heavy burden on her mind.

However, despite Chen Yang’s reassurance, Wang Hong still felt bad.

"But I’m ultimately responsible for the temperature-controlled room, and after something like this happened, I really feel bad. Yang Zi, why don’t you dock my pay, otherwise Auntie will keep feeling uncomfortable." Wang Hong still felt guilty, sensing she had a responsibility for yesterday’s occurrence.

Seeing Wang Hong like this, Chen Yang was actually quite relieved.

He also greatly admired Wang Hong; she might be a simple rural woman, but she had a sense of responsibility.

Others might try to pass the buck in such a situation, but she took it upon herself.

"Aunt Wang, don’t burden yourself. The responsibility doesn’t lie with you. If you really feel bad, how about this: you fund the installation of an iron door for the temperature-controlled room as punishment, would that work?" Chen Yang thought it over and suggested.

Though Wang Hong was willing to take responsibility, Chen Yang surely wouldn’t let her shoulder it all.

So he came up with a solution where Wang Hong could install two iron doors, which wouldn’t cost too much but would ease her mind.

Wang Hong was touched hearing Chen Yang’s suggestion.

"Alright, I’ll listen to you, this afternoon I’ll go to the town to find a couple of craftsmen to install the iron doors." Wang Hong nodded and agreed.

"Okay, then you should get busy; it’s prime mushroom-picking time now, the site can’t do without you." Chen Yang said with a smile.

"Alright, I’ll be off then, Yang Zi."

After the conversation, Wang Hong felt much better and nodded, turning to leave the clinic.

Watching Wang Hong’s departing figure, Chen Yang smiled a little and then turned back inside.

Upon entering the inner room, he saw Wu Kexin had already set the breakfast from the kitchen on the table.

She hadn’t started eating yet and was waiting for Chen Yang.

Chen Yang walked over with a smile and sat down, picking up the chopsticks: "Let’s eat, Kexin, noodles don’t taste good cold."

Seeing Chen Yang arrive, Wu Kexin finally said okay and picked up her chopsticks to eat.

After a few bites, Wu Kexin asked Chen Yang: "By the way, Chen Yang, who was just here?"

"It was Aunt Wang, she came about the temperature-controlled room incident last night." Chen Yang explained the situation to Wu Kexin honestly.

After hearing Chen Yang’s account, understanding Wang Hong’s intentions, Wu Kexin also admired Wang Hong.

"Should we really let her pay for the iron door?" Wu Kexin nodded a few times and then asked Chen Yang again.

Chen Yang took a bite of noodles: "Of course we won’t let her pay. When it’s time to settle salaries, give her a bit extra, because last night’s incident wasn’t her fault either."

"Okay, then I’ll include that in her pay." Wu Kexin agreed with a smile.

After that, the two focused on eating their noodles, not discussing anything else.

Once they finished the noodles, Wu Kexin briefly chatted with Chen Yang and then left the clinic.

She had her own matters to attend to.
