CHAPTER 29: PRS 29

In the largest private hospital in XX City, a girl walked limply, holding the test results from the internist’s office. Her hands were shaking violently, as if the test results were a death sentence.

With a pale face, Scarlet slumped into a chair in the waiting room in the corner. She clutched the paper tightly, her eyes blank, her lips trembling.

"Syphilis? It can’t be... this must be wrong! I can’t have that disease," she cried. "I’m always careful. I always make sure everything is clean. This must be a lab error. There must be something wrong with these test results."

Scarlet covered her mouth tightly with her palm to prevent others from hearing her sobs. Tears fell, wetting her heavily made-up cheeks.

"Why... why does this misfortune always come my way? My life is already ruined, and now my body is too?" she muttered softly. "What more must I endure? Hasn’t I already suffered enough?"

She shook her head rapidly, trying to deny it. "It can’t be... the doctor must be wrong. I’m healthy. I’m fine... I’ll have another checkup tomorrow at another hospital. The results will definitely be different." But her voice grew weaker.

Scarlet looked back at the lab results. It clearly read: early indications of syphilis. Her heart felt like it was being squeezed.

After her family went bankrupt a few years ago, Scarlet had given up on college and a normal life. She chose a dark path: selling her body for luxury. At first, it was just to survive, but over time, she became lulled by money and a luxurious lifestyle.

Now she was no longer just a "call girl." Scarlet was the mistress of an elderly conglomerate and had three other sugar daddies. All of this provided her with ample funds for designer bags, expensive dresses, parties, and a luxury apartment in the Emerald Heights complex.

But that happiness was now shattered by a piece of paper.

Drttt...

Her phone vibrated. Scarlet hurriedly wiped away her tears and pressed the answer button.

"My dear... have you had lunch?" a spoiled, elderly man’s voice came from the other end. "I’m worried you’re not taking good care of your health. You’re staying up too late at parties."

Scarlet’s tone immediately changed. She cleared her throat and then laughed softly. "Okay, Daddy. I just came back from a small hospital, just a routine checkup. Don’t worry, I’m fine. The doctor said all my test results are good. I just need more rest."

"That’s great. There’s a party with my colleagues tonight. I want you to accompany me. It’s an important party, honey. Lots of big clients will be there. I want to show them my beautiful girl."

Scarlet bit her lip. "Oh, of course... I’ll be the star of the night, Daddy. I’ll wear the red dress you bought me yesterday. I’m sure everyone will be mesmerized."

The man on the other end chuckled with satisfaction. "Sweet girl. I’ll buy you some new jewelry later. I’ll have that diamond necklace you wanted specially ordered for you."

After the call ended, Scarlet’s smile slowly faded. She crumpled the paper and tucked it into her bag.

"It’s okay, Scarlet," she whispered to herself. "The doctor said this is just the beginning. With medication and treatment, I can still live a normal life. There are still many ways to survive. I can hide this. No one needs to know."

She patted her cheeks a few times, then smiled in front of the hospital restroom mirror, covering up the remaining sadness with a fresh coat of lipstick.

Scarlet didn’t know that from a distance, a man in a black jacket, wearing a mask and a hat, was watching her. The man pressed an earphone to his ear and whispered softly, "The target is out. Time for the execution."

Just as Scarlet was about to open the door of her luxury car, someone suddenly covered her mouth with a handkerchief filled with anesthetic. Her body went limp, then she was dragged into a black car waiting at the side of the road.

When she came to, Scarlet was tied to a chair, her arms and legs immobilized. The blinding light stung her eyes.

"What the hell?! Let me go!" she screamed. "Do you know who I am? Do you know who supports me? You will all regret this! My daddy will destroy you all!"

SLAP! Two hard slaps landed on her cheeks.

"Get up, you cheap bitch!" shouted a middle-aged woman standing arrogantly in front of her. She was in her fifties, wearing expensive clothes and a look of hatred in her eyes. "Who do you think you are? You think you can live peacefully forever by seducing my husband?"

Scarlet’s jaw dropped, then she narrowed her eyes. She recognized the face. It was the legal wife of one of her sugar daddies.

Instead of being afraid, Scarlet chuckled sarcastically. "Oh, so it’s you... the old woman your husband no longer wants. No wonder he prefers spending time with me. You’re no longer attractive to him."

You’re only his legal wife on paper, but I’m the one he loves."

The woman grinned, unmoved. She slowly approached, holding a small, gleaming knife.

"So, is this the face that drives my husband crazy?" she said, cutting the knife across Scarlet’s cheek. Fresh blood immediately dripped. "This cheap face covered in silicone and heavy makeup?"

Scarlet grimaced, but still tried to fight back with words. "You can injure my face, but you still can’t make your husband love you again. He’ll still find a replacement. Because the problem isn’t me, it’s you who can no longer make him happy."

The knife suddenly stabbed Scarlet’s chest. She screamed, her body convulsing, blood gushing out. The woman twisted it for a moment, then pulled it back.

Scarlet coughed, her eyes watering. "You’re crazy... You’re going to jail for this. You’re going to lose everything."

But before the woman could continue her attack, one of her henchmen shouted, "Madam, be careful! This girl has just been diagnosed with syphilis. There’s a chance she’s infected you. Her blood could be dangerous!"

The woman was shocked. She immediately threw the bloody knife to the floor and then hastily cleaned her hands with disinfectant.

"Bitch! Not only are you cheap, you’re also a carrier of a disgusting disease!" she shouted. "You’ve infected my husband? You’ve brought that filthy disease into my house?"

She gave a cold order. "Cut out her tongue. Break her legs. Throw her out on the street. Make sure everyone knows how despicable she is. Make sure no man will ever touch her again."

Scarlet’s screams echoed through the room as the woman’s men carried out her orders. Her tongue was bleeding, her face was disfigured, the silicone in her breasts was leaking, and her legs were crushed.

Her helpless body was thrown onto the deserted street. A sign was taped to her back that read: "CARRIER OF DANGEROUS AND CONTAGIOUS DISEASES."

Scarlet crawled with her remaining strength, dragging herself to the side of the road to avoid being run over by vehicles.

Tears welled up in her eyes. "Is this... what Arlina felt when Mama Margaret and I threw her out of the house?" she thought, filled with regret. "Did she feel the same pain? Did she cry like this when we mercilessly threw her out?" Oh God, I only now understand how cruel we were back then."

But the regret came too late. Now Scarlet had truly fallen to the lowest point in her life.

People who saw her only covered their noses, walked away, or sneered. No one dared to help a woman who was labeled dirty and carrying disease.

Scarlet stared at the dark night sky. With her remaining strength, she whispered softly, "If I could turn back time... I wouldn’t have chosen this path... I would have been a better person. I would have treated Arlina better. I’m sorry..."

But fate had spoken. Her once glamorous life was now left only with destruction, blood, and loneliness.
