CHAPTER 68: PRS 68
At Cromson Company,
"How is it? Are there any movements?" Morgan asked with a sharp expression as he gazed out his office window overlooking the city.
"There haven’t been any significant movements, sir. Miss Isabella remains calm so far. It seems the news from country I hasn’t affected her much, and the young lady seems still focused on the Romano issue," Morgan’s assistant, Rich, replied calmly, reading the report in his hand.
Morgan tapped his index finger on his desk several times as his mind worked out the possibilities and what major steps Isabella would take.
"That girl always has a backup plan. I wonder what she’s preparing," Morgan muttered, turning his chair to face Rich.
"Sir, do we need to increase surveillance?" Rich asked cautiously.
"No need. Isabella is smart enough to realize she’s being watched too closely," Morgan replied with a faint smile. "Regarding Romano, make sure he can’t get back up again forever."
"Yes, sir," Rich replied obediently, jotting down instructions on his tablet.
"Rich, I want you to convey this message very clearly and precisely. There is no room for compromise. Romano must receive the harshest punishment," Morgan stated firmly in a tone that brooked no argument.
"I understand, sir. I will convey this message firmly," Rich said with a firm nod.
As soon as he left Morgan’s office, Rich immediately contacted all the pillars of power in the capital regarding the Cromson family’s stance on Romano.
"Mr. Harri? I’m Rich from the Cromson Company. I would like to convey the Cromson family’s official orders regarding Romano’s case," Rich said formally over the phone.
"Is that so? The Cromson family has already decided what to do? Okay, I understand," the voice on the other end replied with an understanding tone.
This news sent a shockwave through the capital, which had been tense for several days following Romano’s arrest and trial.
"Have you heard the news? The Cromson family has already decided to issue orders regarding Romano’s case!" whispered one of the high-ranking officials to his colleague at a banquet.
"Seriously? Then Romano is truly finished this time," his colleague replied, his face pale.
After everyone learned of the Cromson family’s order, some who were still trying to curry favor with Romano, believing he would escape justice this time, slowly began to abandon him, as they still cherished their lives and didn’t want their extended family to be affected by Romano’s case.
"I will withdraw all my support for Romano. Sorry, but my family is more important," said one politician, tearing up a document in front of his assistant.
"Romano’s fate is truly finished this time!" That was what everyone in the political circle thought as soon as Morgan, the head of the Cromson family, gave the order to sentence Romano to the harshest sentence.
Little did Romano know that powerful forces in the capital were pressuring him, making it impossible for him to avoid the death penalty and the seizure of his assets by the state.
The five lawyers defending Romano could only rub their faces in frustration. Six of the pillars of power in State S have opposed Romano; if they continue this case, the future of their law firm will undoubtedly be bleak.
"I can’t continue this. This is suicide!" complained one of the lawyers, throwing his bag onto the sofa.
"I’m withdrawing from this case," said Sim, one of the capital’s senior lawyers, raising his hands wearily.
"Sim, are you serious? We’ve already gotten in too deep," said another lawyer in disbelief.
"That’s exactly why I have to leave now before it’s too late. I’m sorry," replied Sim, grabbing his bag and walking quickly toward the door.
"I’m withdrawing too," Leo, still concerned about his career, also raised his hand and walked out, following Sim as he sped away in his car.
Watching Sim and Leo retreat, Tore and Basti followed, unwilling to let the careers they had worked so hard to build disappear just because of a small amount of money Romano paid.
"Tore, are we going with them?" whispered Basti hesitantly.
"Of course! I won’t sacrifice my future for Romano. Let’s go!" Tore replied, tugging on Basti’s arm.
Now only Jorge remained. Although he longed to retreat like his other four companions, when he remembered the immense debt he owed Romano, he decided against it.
"What, sir, are we going to retreat with them?" the assistant asked curiously, glancing at the door the four lawyers had just left.
Jorge took a deep breath. "No! We’ll keep going. Even if we lose, at least we’ve given our best for Mr. Romano. I won’t forget his service in saving my family."
"But sir, this is very risky for our firm," his assistant said worriedly.
"I know the risks. But a debt of gratitude is a debt of gratitude. We won’t back down," Jorge insisted, his eyes showing doubt.
Romano, unaware that the four lawyers he had hired had withdrawn, was currently formulating a master plan to escape punishment.
"I can definitely get out of this situation," Romano muttered, scribbling various escape scenarios on a piece of paper.
So focused on the plan he was formulating in his mind, Romano didn’t notice someone sneaking into his cell.
BUGH! BUGH! BUGHH!!!
A barrage of punches and kicks landed on Romano’s body, leaving him curled up in the corner of the cell, enduring the excruciating pain.
"Argh! Who are you?! How dare!" Romano shouted, shielding his head with both hands.
Seeing his victim helpless but unbruised, the man grabbed Romano’s face, forced his mouth open, and then inserted a pill, which dissolved in his saliva. He then quickly left the cell.
"No! What did you give me?!" Romano screamed in panic.
Cough...cough...cough...
Romano struggled to spit out the contents of the pill he had forced into his mouth. No matter how hard he spat and tried to clear his stomach, the drug was so dissolved that it immediately took effect.
"Get out! Get out!" Romano continued to force himself to vomit, digging his fingers down his throat.
A minute later, Romano felt his body freeze. It was as if a bone had been forcibly removed, making him scream in pain. This, of course, prompted the prison guards to come to his cell and take him to the clinic.
"Help! Help me! My body... hurts so much!" Romano shouted hoarsely.
The doctor examining Romano frowned deeply. "There’s nothing wrong with his body. His heartbeat is normal, his blood pressure is normal. Maybe he’s just acting so he can rest in the clinic," said the police doctor, removing his stethoscope.
"Doctor, I’m serious! This is very painful! Trust me, Doctor!" Romano pleaded, tears streaming down his face.
"Enough of your act, Romano," the doctor said coldly.
Seeing Romano as a cunning man, the prison guards believed the doctor’s words and immediately took Romano and threw him back into his cell, ignoring his cries of pain. They tied his hands behind his back and gagged his mouth with a cloth to keep him quiet.
"Be quiet! Don’t make any noise, or you’ll suffer even more!" the guards snapped, tying Romano’s hands tightly.
Romano felt a sharp chill and piercing pain, as if thousands of needles were stabbing into his skin and flesh, and a painful, cold sensation.
Yes, Isabella had given Romano a frost poison undetectable by medical science. The poison would freeze his internal organs before destroying them.
The sufferer would experience intense cold, like being immersed in an icy pool, and a prolonged pain, as if thousands of needles were piercing their skin and flesh.
In addition to the skin and flesh being so painful that they felt numb, the bones in his body would also feel as if they were being forcibly ripped out, causing the poisoned person to endure this excruciating torture for seven consecutive days before weakening and dying.
This torture was more than Romano deserved than the physical abuse inflicted by others.
What Romano suffered was completely invisible, but the pain was thousands of times greater than the physical torture prisoners typically endured.
With his hands tied, Romano could only roll around, biting hard on the cloth gagging his mouth, sending a searing pain through his body.
Meanwhile, Beca, in her own cell, had been placed in several places by Isabella, causing her to scream in terror. The guards at the women’s prison were crueler than those at the men’s prison.
"Go away! All of you! Don’t come near me!" Beca screamed, retreating to a corner of the cell, her eyes wide with fear.
The male prison guards, upon hearing Romano’s screams, immediately came to his aid, even taking him to the clinic upon seeing him in pain.
As for the female prison, the guards on night duty seemed deaf. They ignored any noise in the cell, as long as it wasn’t a fire or an escaped inmate. Beca was practically insane, terrified by the illusions she’d created.
"Help! There’s a monster! Help me!" Beca screamed until her voice was hoarse.
Romano’s two sons, unaware of their parents’ dire conditions in prison, were currently partying with alcohol and drugs in their luxurious villa.
"Let’s drink some more! We have to be satisfied today!" shouted B, raising a bottle of liquor.
"Right! Let our parents deal with their problems. Let’s just enjoy life!" replied T, laughing loudly.
Isabella, watching the scene, was furious. Moreover, she also discovered that several members of the capital’s police force were participating in the immoral party.
"Disgusting. They’re supposed to be maintaining order, but instead they’re participating in a party like this," Isabella muttered, her eyes narrowing sharply.
"People like this must be eradicated immediately so they don’t pollute the scenery," she thought sharply, observing from a distance.
After scattering the anesthetic in the air, Isabella administered impotence pills to the seven unconscious men while they waited for the authorities to arrive to arrest them.
"This is a fitting punishment for you. You’ll remember this night forever," Isabella whispered as she administered the last pill.
She not only summoned the authorities, but also called several major media outlets in the capital and bloggers to broadcast the arrest live so that these seven men wouldn’t be able to escape and destroy any evidence.
"This is going to be big news. Romano’s son and several police officers caught at a drug party," Isabella muttered with a satisfied smile as she watched the media cameras flash in the distance.
"The show begins now," she whispered before disappearing into the darkness.
