CHAPTER 477: CHAPTER 368: MEETING OF THE TWO KINGS: THE SAILBOAT COLLECTOR, PHANTOM BOTTLE_2
Several Remit People adorned with pearls and gemstones, obviously of the Gold Sequence, were entering and leaving, evidently owning the property.
Byron had seen business opportunities from the New Continent and new trade routes, establishing a transit service station in the Great Bear Archipelago, and these keen-nosed fellows naturally could as well.
It was just that one group was doing business for those arriving, and the other for those on the return journey.
But do these people really not fear death for the sake of money? Or has the anomaly on this island been resolved by the Pirate King?
After Byron subdued the Goddess Freya, he had already learned a bit about the island.
All descendants of the Deep Sea Kin knew that their ancestors had experienced a "collective ascension" at Fortress Bridgehead, which allowed them to transform into a Kin serving the Slumbering God.
But few knew that although they were both called "ascension" rituals, their natures were starkly different.
The collective ascension of Fortress Bridgehead involved the use of the Cursed Object, the Spiral City Manual, to conduct a ritual, mimicking Luanyun City—which was half on land and half in the water, half in reality and half in the Dream Realm—to invert itself.
One half inverted to the Sea of Origin Matter and was simultaneously replaced by a mirror island from the Sea of Origin Matter.
All the Bay Exiles also completed their descent towards the "Beastly side," embracing the Spiral City Manual to achieve a sublimation of their bloodline.
That card from the Capricious Joker, the Golden Great Devil Card obtained by Koraskin, most likely arrived from the Sea of Origin Matter into the Material World during that same opportunity.
Even without Byron’s main body being here, he could vaguely sense the existence of a high-level World Rift on the island that had not been sealed or healed.
The danger was still present.
Unfortunately, both the Divine Son and Goddess were actually not very old. They had reached the Fourth Order at a young age purely because of their superior Species and were strictly forbidden by Dagon from approaching the island, thus knowing not too much about the inner workings.
Fortunately, they didn’t have to ponder for too long whether to proceed or retreat before someone approached of their own accord to enlighten them:
"Welcome to Fortress Bridgehead Port. It’s no wonder the two Captains are elite Adventurers capable of being among the first to reach the New Continent. Have you also noticed the strangeness of this island?"
Following their gaze, Byron turned to look back and couldn’t help feeling delighted when he saw who had approached.
It was quite a surprise to encounter an old acquaintance in this place, tens of thousands of miles from his homeland.
—It was the Remit swindler from Golden Palm Trading Company, Golden Eye Michel. He had first sold Bruh to Byron, then gathered friends to purchase properties extensively at the International Port, and later started an online store and invested in the stock market via the Financial Gold Center. This Michel was practically a godsend.
After clinging to Byron’s coattails, Michel, with his knack for judging people, had smoothly advanced to the Second Order.
Unexpectedly, the vanguard from Golden Palm Trading Company pioneering business in the New Continent was him again.
Having this familiar figure, whom he’d ’cultivated’ for so long, here might be a good omen, Byron subconsciously felt.
Of course, Michel had no idea an old acquaintance was watching. He enthusiastically adopted a businessman’s fervor, flashing a signature large gold tooth as he introduced to the two Captains:
"Captains, according to the staff of the Pirate King, His Excellency Ocean Throne," Michel began, "this place does have a Second Grade World Rift that allows Middle Sequence Bizarre Entities to enter and exit. Over hundreds of years, it has formed a very dangerous Secret Realm.
"Even a Fourth Rank Heroic Level Transcendent would face great risks if they strayed into it."
Seeing a slight change in the two men’s expressions, Michel pointed toward the blood-colored crescent Moon that had recently appeared overhead and continued to explain,
"The Naturalists accompanying us have summarized the first taboo of the New Continent:
"’The Source Tide follows the phase of the Blood Moon; the fuller and rounder the Moon, the stronger the tide.’
"During the full Moon each month, seawater from the Sea of Origin Matter may even pour into the New Continent through this World Rift.
"To use an analogy, if our world were a sailboat partially taking on water, then the water level in the New Continent is higher than in the Bantaan Archipelago and the Old Continent.
"Many places are even perpetually submerged.
"This is free intelligence that the Pirate King has made public to demonstrate goodwill."
He felt a small pang of regret that he couldn’t use public information to turn a profit. Then, he continued,
"As for the Secret Realm here, it manifests as a ’Living Hatch,’ a trap commonly seen in labyrinths.
"Step on it, and it flips.
"Fortunately, the risk of it flipping inside out only occurs during the latter half of the month when the Blood Moon is full and the tide is high enough; it isn’t triggered under normal conditions.
"The three days at the end of the month and the three days at the beginning of the month are the safest. Even if you step right on it then, nothing untoward will happen.
"Luckily, you arrived early. If you had come two days later, with the island’s ’Living Hatches’ gradually flipping, you might have stepped into nothingness upon arriving in the New Continent and fallen straight into the Life Forbidden Zone of the Sea of Origin Matter."
Upon hearing Michel’s explanation, Byron and the two Captains finally understood.
The Bone Gobble Joker had arrived on the island on January 8th. It was already fortunate that he had merely gone mad; if he had arrived on an inopportune day, he might have dropped right out of this world.
At the same time, they understood why Ocean Throne was so eager and impatient, gathering troops from the Bantaan Archipelago and other forces at full speed, not hesitating to publicize the whaling grounds’ intelligence.
It was already the end of June, with only three days left until the final safe period.
