Another two months have gone by.
"Mr. Akashi. Here's your coffee…"
"Akashi, my buddy. Here's the newspaper."
Akashi, who was sitting on the couch, the one he ordered, in the homicides department, accepted the good treatment from his colleagues.
The ass-kissing was even stronger than before he retired.
"Thanks." He said.
"No, thank you for your help," a female detective leaned in and kissed him on the cheek before leaving to do her work.
"Sure, it is, honey." Akashi laughed. At least, it's not like that time when he solved a case, and the main detective tried to French kiss him. Must say, the air barrier was quite useful in that case to prevent it.
He swept his cheek with his hand and lay on the couch.
No matter what happened, or how successful his business got in the last 5 months after leaving Ba Sing Se, he still loved chasing after the criminals, and especially the inner peace that followed catching a serial killer and accidentally making it seem like a work accident. Well, unless they wanted to kill themselves, then he would stop them and try to push them into the death chair.
Personal grudges from his previous life as Bob still gave him satisfaction in this life, just like it gave him experience. Though, he wondered which was more personality dominant, Bob or Akashi. Akashi, for once, used to swear too much and had few tendencies, but had exceptional willpower to quit alcohol and drugs whenever he wouldn't work undercover. On the other hand, Bob used to just do his job well, 'accidentally' shoot criminals, and that's it. He never wanted more than getting his paycheck, getting home, and playing video games. Never wanted to build a business empire or anything.
'But let's be honest, there are no video games in this world, and there isn't much competition in this world's setting. So, my ideas can generate income, and that would entertain me.
'Man. Never in my two lives did I think that work would be the thing I use to entertain myself.
'Talking about entertainment,' he smiled as he saw the main title of the newspaper.
There was a picture with Amon's face. Behind him, slightly tan men and women stood, dressed in gray attire.
He was building a true resistance and was gathering people.
The news explained how he managed to convince many people to go against the Earth Queen. Or rather, that convincing, he gave them the courage to do so. 30% of the people had agreed with him and moved to his base, out of Ba Sing Se.
During the last 5 months, there happened to be two confrontations between the Dai Lee and Noatak.
Let's say that Noatak didn't give up on his habit of making shows.
He had made sure to capture the Dai Lee agents, strip them of their bending, and then, the final judgment would be being thrown to the hands of the people and let them do whatever they wanted. They say that they would pick stones and throw them at them. And when an earthbender throws a stone at you, be sure that it's instant death.
It was a good way to give his followers the courage, so they would be useful on the battlefield after their spirits had been crushed in a concentration camp.
Akashi turned the pages.
From the rebels, there were stories about the concentration camp horrors.
"Hahaha…" Akashi laughed.
That's pretty good strategy, to use the newspaper to frame the enemies.
In this world that lacked entertainment and news usually are boring, such news and stories would attract the attention of the whole world.
And the fact that such stories were being published meant that Ba Sing Se's palace was in a tight financial situation.
But as he kept turning the page, he could understand why their finances were tight.
"I see…"
It talked about a massive exchange between Sato Mobile, selling planes at a bargain price for the Earth Kingdom.
Akashi smiled, seeing how things were happening.
Why Sato were selling planes to the Earth Kingdom, especially Ba Sing Se.
One could say that they offered him a lot of money. But that would be only true if they didn't have a prior relation.
And at a bargain price?
No.
Could he have a grudge on Amon and be helping her to take the rebels down?
No way.
No matter what, he was a businessman, and he hated benders. He would not enter a losing deal with them no matter what.
There was one clue Akashi thought about. The Earth Queen had funded the equalists, and the equalists used that money to build their weapons through Hiroshi. They may be collecting the debts, and they used his daughter to threaten him. And if such a thing happened, it wouldn't be a recent thing.
'They would have sent someone to threaten him… using his daughter. I know, it's his weakness, because I usually threaten him with exposing him to her… and he becomes docile,' he thought, 'They are collecting debts from him.'
Akashi found himself not angry with Hiroshi's action.
Because, for one, Akashi didn't warn him not to deal with the Earth Queen.
'I doubt it, but he's terrified about losing his daughter. He can't tell me because there are eyes on him.' Akashi thought as he flipped the newspaper.
He closed the newspaper and decided not to think about the negative things. Instead, focus on the positive things.
He, thanks to his training like a powerlifter, managed to get two strength points through sheer effort.
Before making money, he had levels on his eyes. And Akashi never abandoned his hunting trips, shooting air projectiles at monsters, and that helped him gain three levels.
'Four to five months of occasional hunts, and gaining three levels. Not bad, considering that spirits didn't chase after me.' He thought, 'I'm maybe not a monster after all.'
He gave his stats window a look, feeling proud of what he had accomplished so far.

Sure, he still didn't use the points he earned. Mostly, because he didn't feel pressured to, and he was quite hesitant. He may finally get the balanced build, free from weakness. But, each five points in other stats, probably other than vitality, would give him a perk.
He knew that it's just an illusion in his mind. So, he decided to leave it when necessary, and in case he had gotten himself in a bad situation.
For now, he was planning to deal with the dark Avatar before his rebirth. So, he was waiting for him to come to the South Pole. And, Akashi was quite curious about how much the experience points the spirits would give him.
Or better yet, the North Pole army that would invade the South Pole.
Akashi could defeat them without remorse.
And given that he was at a high level already, he'd be thankful if he got three levels.
But he would still be thankful if he got more.
Nevertheless, his mental planning process halted when he got called.
"Consultant Akashi. The chief is asking you to her office for a consultation," said a policewoman running in the department.
"Thanks," Akashi threw the papers and went to the main office.
The colleagues who had been in the same room with him exchanged looks.
"He's not going to give her a consultation, is he?"
"He's going to bone her, that's for sure."
"Well, if you can't prove it, it's not a crime, technically."
"Just shut up. It's just a part of their routine."
"But they shouldn't do it, we are detectives, we can tell what happens!"
"Hush. If the chief is happy, we are all happy, and she won't yell at us or force us to do more work. So let the man do what a man's got to do."
"Tsk. Good point."
A part of their routine. That's what was happening during the last months of being here. He and Lin had a more solid relation now. She and Korra stopped fighting, and everyone was happy. But not for Lin very soon. Korra would be taking him to the Glacier Spirits festival with her, Lin would be left alone. That's why he had been giving her more attention lately.
"See you later, Lin." Akashi smiled as he closed the door on Lin, who laid on her desk. She gave him a meaningful smile as she waved her hand, clearly exhausted.
Apparently, not only had she gotten happier with the stamina points, but with the increased strength stats.
Akashi went back to the homicides department, only to find a huge commission.
People were gathering around a very successful and a known entrepreneur who earned a lot and was on his way to change the world.
Hiroshi Sato smiled as he shook hands with everyone.
"Thank you for your donation, Mr. Sato."
"The fact you came here without the press says a lot about you."
Akashi picked up on the words the officers were saying.
Apparently, Hiroshi Sato came here to donate some money to them.
It made him look like a good guy and a better civilian.
If only Akashi didn't know how deeply that man hated benders. He'd never help the police if he didn't have a hidden purpose.
"It's a pleasure to help the police of our city." Hiroshi laughed as he looked around. When his eyes fell on Akashi, he rushed to him and hugged him.
"Akashi! My friend. Glad to see you well." Hiroshi said.
Akashi played along. "You never talked to me ever since my camera invention."
"What can I say? I'm busy with changing the world to a better place." Hiroshi laughed, "Wanted to get by, and thank your help."
Akashi's eyes scanned around, looking for any potential hidden agent.
"They are here. Play along." He whispered, "They threatened you using your daughter, didn't they?"
Hiroshi hugged him strongly, like a clingy, afraid animal.
"Please…" Hiroshi whispered back, "I'm asking you for a favor."
