Playing cards, I am your ancestor!
Chapter 21 - 021 Very Strong Deck_1
CHAPTER 21: 021 VERY STRONG DECK_1
"Not good! That’s not our card!"
The offensive Spirit Card Master of the plant deck naturally shared a connection with his own Card Spirits and immediately knew that the attacking card was not his.
He didn’t know why the opponent’s Card Spirit Skills were so outrageous, but that didn’t stop him from reacting quickly.
However, in a competition like this, the battle could change in an instant; a moment of stunned surprise was enough to give the opponent an opening.
Even though it was their first time controlling the Bamboo Demon Card, the excitement in their heart didn’t prevent them from immediately using the Bamboo Demon’s Copy skill to attack the peach-pink Card Spirit, which was frozen in place.
"SWISH—"
The plant deck’s offensive card, known as Strangle Vine, appeared, its lush green vines tightly coiling around the peach-pink flower, initiating a stranglehold.
The pink flower Card Spirit immediately tried to retreat but couldn’t withstand the power of the offensive card and was tightly ensnared. Meanwhile, the Rabbit Demon stepped forward, its human-form hands transforming into claws to fend off other Card Spirits attempting to rescue the peach-pink flower.
"SNAP—"
The Card Spirit shattered. The glow of the card flickering before the Spirit Card Master extinguished along with it, and the controlling Spirit Card Master was expelled from the battlefield.
"Damn!"
The eyes of the other spectators in the center of the arena bulged. The competitors couldn’t see, but these onlookers saw everything clearly.
The Bamboo Demon turned invisible in its human form, but they could see its transparent outline. It suddenly moved behind the Flower Demon and transformed into a green bamboo segment. In the next second, it assumed the appearance of the opponent’s attacking card. Before the opponent could react, it strangled the peach-pink flower closest to the battlefield.
The flower Card Spirit played a controlling role and was positioned forward. It likely wanted to eliminate other Card Spirits quickly, but there probably wasn’t enough time.
After the Bamboo Demon finished off the peach-pink flower, it immediately reverted to its human form. Everyone saw a shy, traditionally dressed girl give a faint smile, and then, in the next second, she vanished without a trace, timely avoiding the pursuit of the opponent’s other Card Spirits.
"This—"
Below the arena, Tang Qian was extremely shocked. "A Dual-Change Card?!" she exclaimed.
Two forms? Invisible in human form, disguised in bamboo form?
Chen Runyu also couldn’t help but express his pleasant surprise. "So strong! I previously thought the Bamboo Demon was just a Support Card. I didn’t expect her support Skills to be practically divine!"
Not only could the Bamboo Demon Copy the opposing card in its bamboo state, but it could also Copy one of the opposing card’s attack moves. At this critical moment, it was a decisive blow.
"A divine-level Dual-Change Card," Tang Qian said, licking the corner of her lips, barely concealing her admiration. "It’s a pity it’s only B-Level... and if used improperly, revealing this card early would make the other four wary. But still, it was good to cut off their control. Now the opponents can’t ensure their follow-up damage lands accurately, and they can’t inflict a poison status."
"A Dual-Change Card? Is this a Dual-Change Card?"
There were many lower-level Spirit Card Masters in the Mount Flower Association. Everyone had heard that an A-Level coach was here to test a new B-Level deck, so they had come out of curiosity. When they saw the five new cards, they were unavoidably dazzled.
"Damn! Isn’t that too beautiful? Forget everything else, just for this card art, I’d spend everything!"
"I’d go bankrupt to get it!"
While cards might be powerful, a Card Spirit continuously depletes spiritual power from the moment it’s summoned. Each attack must be carefully calculated; otherwise, it’s not only ineffective but also a waste of spiritual power. It didn’t matter if the Bamboo Demon Card was revealed too soon, as the attacks of the other four new cards were also outrageously strong.
The Rabbit Demon transformed into its rabbit form and, together with the Child Demon, launched a joint attack that instantly eliminated another of the opponent’s Card Spirits. The Rabbit Demon’s speed was too fast to catch.
Meanwhile, the Child Demon stood its ground and let out a piercing scream, its sound so jarring that it directly caused the opposing Card Spirits to mentally shatter.
By then, the Flower Demon had recovered from its confusion and immediately transformed into a massive rose, releasing an intensely rich fragrance that seized control of the opponent. The adversary, with only two cards left, had no resistance and was consecutively eliminated by the Rabbit Demon and Child Demon.
The Lantern Demon didn’t even need to transform into a lantern; in its human form, it provided a wave of spiritual power recovery, allowing the Rabbit Demon to continue its relentless assault.
"Five Dual-Change Cards?"
"These are Dual-Change Cards, right? Am I seeing things? They all have two forms? And both forms are combat-capable?"
"Which master’s groundbreaking creation is this? Such incredible cards, and they look so good too! It’s just a shame they’re only B-Level."
When the match ended, even the Spirit Card Master from the plant deck couldn’t help but look at these new cards with envy. "How are they so strong? Which Spirit Card Master made these?"
The Spirit Card Master who had received the new cards was also very excited and shook his head. "I don’t know. The coach gave them to us."
People turned to look at Tang Qian, and Tang Qian looked at Chen Runyu. "Where did you get this deck?"
"I bought it," Chen Runyu answered honestly. "Initially, my sister wanted a Dual-Change Card. I didn’t expect the seller to be such an expert; she made one for her the very next day. I realized this person was no ordinary individual, so I ordered a deck from her. In one week, she delivered it to me."
"One week..."
Tang Qian gasped. "Dual-Change Cards appeared a while ago, but there hasn’t been a complete deck..."
Realizing there were too many people around, she instructed the team members to take the new cards and study them, while she took Chen Runyu and the cards to the office to discuss.
"The deck is very powerful. Every card is considerably strong, and they can combine into a perfect deck."
Tang Qian inspected the exquisitely refined card faces. As she saw the word ’Demon’ as part of their names, a hint of faint surprise flickered in her eyes. "Demons? In the ancient texts passed down in our Yunxia Empire, there are indeed cultural legends about demons."
After all, Tang Qian was well-informed and had some concept of the Demon Race in her mind. "It is said that in this world, all things—mountains, rivers, even inanimate objects—can give birth to a type of spirit creature, which are called demons. It is rumored that our National Treasure Cards, Bi Fang and Bai Ze, are also related to demons. But legends are just legends, and there is too little documentation on this subject. Many ancient scholars believe these spirit creatures are mere fantasy. Bi Fang and Bai Ze are called Divine Beasts; any connection to the Demon Race is considered preposterous."
In a society without actual documentation on the Demon Race, ’demon’ tends to be a term with a derogatory connotation. But these cards—Bamboo Demon, Lantern Demon, Flower Demon... each one bears the ’Demon’ designation. This is an entirely new form of card, one I’ve never seen before, Tang Qian thought.
Tang Qian decided immediately. "Contact the creator," she told Chen Runyu. "See if we can arrange a meeting. This type of card deck hasn’t appeared in other associations. I suspect the creator is an independent Spirit Card Master. If there’s a chance, we absolutely must recruit her into our association. She has a remarkable talent for card creation. And just because she has only made B-Rank Cards so far doesn’t mean she can’t make higher-level ones."
Chen Runyu was also excited but had to temper her enthusiasm. "Master, I had the same thought, but she said she’s currently not interested in joining any Card Association. Mentioning it again might displease her."
Tang Qian paused, then nodded in approval. "You’re right; you handled that well. In that case, we’ll maintain a normal cooperative relationship with her for now. Tell her the new deck is performing exceptionally well and will cause a sensation among B-Level Spirit Card Masters. Ask if she has any other ideas. The Mount Flower Association is willing to pay, no matter the cost."
