Playtime's Over, CEO: She's Really Done With You
Chapter 10: Ready for Medication
CHAPTER 10: CHAPTER 10: READY FOR MEDICATION
The air was filled with the unfamiliar scent of a woman’s light perfume.
Julian Lawson shattered his own thoughts.
In front of him appeared the image of Serena Sterling as she was seen a day ago.
Graceful, pure, standing there like a blooming lily.
Completely different from the woman in front of him.
Perhaps due to their professional reasons, they had some similarities in their demeanor.
Thinking this way, Julian felt at ease.
"The song, Vera Hansen has already bought it, and the price satisfied you," Julian spoke coldly, "I hope you won’t trouble her anymore."
Serena smiled.
"Rest assured."
She said, "I won’t say a word more about this song."
"That’s good." Julian nodded, his gaze deepening as he coldly reminded, "I hope you remember what you said."
Serena just smiled.
Julian turned and left, just as he had hurriedly approached.
Serena watched him walk to the end of the corridor, carefully supporting Vera standing at the doorway.
As if treating a precious treasure.
They left.
After about a few minutes, Serena’s phone vibrated.
She took out her phone and saw it was a message from Julian.
[I told Grandpa yesterday you weren’t feeling well and didn’t come, so this weekend, you must come back to the old house with me.]
This was his order.
Heh...
Serena didn’t reply, but just turned and walked in another direction.
...
On the other side.
Julian had already helped Vera into the car.
He fastened her seatbelt but didn’t start the car immediately; instead, he looked at his phone.
The message interface showed Serena still hadn’t replied.
Vera watched Julian’s behavior.
Then, she slightly reddened her eyes and softly said, "Brother Julian, will you be... unhappy with what I’m doing?"
Julian looked up, frowned, and gazed at Vera.
"Why would you ask that?"
Vera smiled bleakly, paused slightly, and said, "Serena, wasn’t she a musician before? I’m afraid you mind."
Julian didn’t speak, only looked at Vera.
To be honest, he minded a little.
But Vera didn’t have much time left; in the final six months, he would do his best to fulfill her wishes.
Vera saw through his thoughts, so she lowered her head, looking more guilty.
The two remained silent.
The car was quiet, with only the soft sound of Julian’s left hand tapping the steering wheel.
After about a minute passed, Vera finally said, "I just want to walk the path she once walked."
"I want to know how you loved her."
She raised her head, looking at Julian with moist eyes.
"I want you to love me like that too."
Julian stopped tapping the steering wheel, closed his eyes, and finally sighed deeply.
"Don’t overthink." He said, "I’ve already received the divorce receipt with her, just waiting for the cooling-off period to end for the divorce certificate."
"Vera, I’m with you now."
Only then did Vera smile and gently nodded.
"Alright, let’s go back." Julian said, putting away his phone and starting the car.
Vera lowered her head, with a flash of triumph in her eyes.
She was going to do this.
Taking advantage of the current public support, she would fully suppress and invade Serena’s territory.
Whether it was Serena’s man or Serena’s career, she would suppress them tightly.
This was why she knew that recently there was "Heavenly Sound," this music program, and had to participate.
She wanted to completely suppress Serena, make her collapse entirely, and hopefully unable to withstand it, leaving the country, so she could replace Serena, taking over everything Serena had!
For now, it seemed, everything was easy.
Thinking this, she suppressed a smile and feigned weakness, closing her eyes to rest.
...
On the other side.
Serena had already signed an agreement with Jasper Ford.
"Heavenly Sound" among its investors included Ford Entertainment, and as a representative of Ford Entertainment, Jasper Ford had certain speaking privileges.
Knowing Vera’s involvement, Jasper Ford arranged a confidentiality agreement for Serena.
Serena participated as a masked special contestant, using another name "Irene" as her stage name, planning to take off the mask at the right time for everyone to see her face and know her true identity.
Before removing the mask, only Serena and Jasper Ford knew her real identity.
Since it was a music program, it focused more on lyrics, composition, and singing skills, and the mask was just a marketing tactic used by various participating agencies, so there was no opposition.
Irene, already serene, inner peace, naturally serene.
Serena was very satisfied with this stage name and, after everything was arranged, drove to the hospital.
She had postponed her appointment with the doctor in the morning, so now was just the right time to head over.
After a simple lunch, Serena arrived at the doctor’s office.
"Knock, knock."
Lightly knocking on the office door, Serena watched as the doctor raised her head, and she gently nodded, then walked in and closed the door.
Dr. Shayla Randall watched her sit down and asked warmly, "I see you seem different from before today; how have you been feeling lately?"
Dr. Randall was Serena’s primary doctor treating her depression.
Serena had experienced many things in this life, both joyful and painful, with ups and downs.
Though the first twenty years of her life had their struggles, there was a degree of support.
Until the day Vera entered in public.
In fact, before Vera sent her a message using an anonymous account, Serena had already sensed something.
But that day, when she showed the message to Julian, he accused her of deliberately framing Vera.
That day, she visited the psychiatric department for the first time.
Her first medical record stated she was already moderately depressed.
The doctor advised medication, but she wanted a child, so she only underwent regular psychological counseling without taking medicine.
Julian was indifferent to her matters, so he was unaware she saw a doctor for her condition.
"Feeling a bit better than before." Serene thought and replied, "I decided to let go of some things, perhaps it’s beneficial to my recovery."
The doctor nodded, showing relief.
"How’s life lately?" Dr. Randall continued to ask.
She had a certain understanding of Serena.
She was also aware of the recent internet uproar over the live-streamed countdown to Vera’s demise.
Therefore, while she appeared relieved about Serena’s situation, she inwardly was not optimistic.
Because she understood the kind of presence Julian held in Serena’s life over the years.
Serena looked at the white surface of the doctor’s desk and paused for about three seconds.
Finally, she smiled slightly, "Actually, not good at all."
She merely uttered this line, causing her eyes to slightly redden.
Yet she held back.
"Dr. Randall." She said, "I’ve decided, let’s go with medication."
Previously, having expectations for Julian and wanting a child, she only underwent counseling.
But now she wanted neither him nor the child.
So, she could take medicine.
Dr. Randall looked at Serena, worried; she seemed more seriously ill, considering notifying her family, Julian.
