Playtime's Over, CEO: She's Really Done With You
Chapter 185: Actually, She’s the One Who Left You
CHAPTER 185: CHAPTER 185: ACTUALLY, SHE’S THE ONE WHO LEFT YOU
Julian Lawson once again visited William Wyatt, Serena Sterling’s former stepfather.
The two sat on opposite sides of the glass, looking at each other, and then William was the first to pick up the phone.
Julian lowered his eyes slightly and also reached for the phone.
"Why are you here again?" William asked, "So, did you get a divorce? Was it her who refused?"
Julian remained calm and replied, "Yes, we did."
"But..."
A misty darkness clouded Julian’s eyes.
"She wanted to leave from the very beginning."
William became interested.
"So, you thought you wanted to divorce her, but in fact, she didn’t want you." William concluded with a cutting remark.
Julian didn’t respond; he just remained silent.
However, William was laughing hysterically.
He was laughing so hard it couldn’t even be called hysterical; he was in a fit of laughter.
"Oh my, oh my." He finally calmed down a bit after a long while, wiped his tears, and said, "I really didn’t expect you two to end like this."
"I still remember the scene where you knelt before me for her, and I stepped on your head, lecturing you like a dog."
"I thought you two loved each other to death."
William burst out laughing, saying, "Looks like it’s not all that after all."
Julian still didn’t say anything.
And William seemed to remember something, glared at Julian, and said maliciously, "Back then, it was just you playing tricks; otherwise, she would have been ruined by me!"
Then he thought of something else and mocked again, "Do you regret saving her then? Wouldn’t it have been better to let me beat her to death? Now also..."
"I don’t regret it." Before William could finish speaking, Julian had already said.
"I came to see you today to make a decision." He said.
He knew today was Seraphina’s surgery day, but he also knew she wouldn’t let him see Seraphina.
So, he came here.
Seeing William’s face, certain things in his heart became certain.
"What decision?" William asked, puzzled.
But Julian didn’t answer him.
Julian put the phone back, ignoring William’s frenzied curiosity, and turned to leave.
He drove all the way to the hospital downstairs, quietly staying there.
He knew he wasn’t welcome, so it was just fine to look from a distance.
...
In the hospital.
Serena was anxiously waiting, with Bianca Lynch who had just gotten off work by her side.
After an unknown period, the operating room door opened, and Seraphina was pushed out.
Serena rushed forward immediately.
She looked at Seraphina still lying down and then at Ethan Lynch on the side.
Ethan smiled and nodded, "The surgery went very well."
Serena relaxed a little.
The group of them pushed Seraphina toward the ward together, and Bianca comforted her, "It’s okay Serena, as long as the care is good afterward, Seraphina will get better and be like a normal child."
"And the adoption process has already been going on for a long time. Although it normally takes about 30 working days, if the process goes smoothly, it can be done in less than 30 days!"
Serena nodded vigorously, her eyes slightly moist.
Yes, everything was starting to go well.
Soon, Seraphina would recover, and then, after completing the adoption process, they would become a real family.
They made their way to the general ward, where they saw Jasper Ford and Silas Hawthorne standing there.
They had just been talking about something, and when they saw them, they stopped.
"We came to see Seraphina." Silas said.
Jasper nodded vigorously.
Serena didn’t think much of it; Seraphina’s surgery went well, and she was in a good mood now.
Ethan also took off his mask and nodded to both of them, especially Silas, he said, "The surgery went very well, normally she should be able to leave the hospital in 5-10 days."
Everyone present breathed a sigh of relief.
Although Seraphina’s condition could be resolved with surgery, everyone present was very worried about her.
"It’s something worth celebrating." Jasper said with a smile, "Let’s have a meal together!"
Serena was helpless, saying, "Let’s wait until Seraphina is discharged to eat."
Ethan also nodded.
Meanwhile, Bianca looked at Silas with a complex expression.
She always felt something happened when she went to the toilet that day; she remembered Serena had never accepted Silas before.
But...
Bianca looked at Serena. If Serena liked him, then it was good.
More reliable than Julian.
Everyone was very happy, and the last bit of sunset spilled into the ward, filling the room with warmth.
On the other side, Julian waited quietly downstairs until he saw them going down to eat, looking quite happy, and Julian knew that Seraphina’s surgery was very successful.
He opened the car door, got out, and went up to the ward, standing at the door, looking inside.
Then he saw Serena and Silas sitting by the bedside, with Serena wiping Seraphina’s hands, and Silas holding a basin.
"After Seraphina is discharged, she might need professional nannies, caregivers, nurses, and so on. I know some reliable caregivers from my family, or you could let the Lynch siblings introduce you; their recommendations should be good too," Silas said.
Serena didn’t refuse; while wiping Seraphina’s hands, she responded, "Hmm, I’ll meet them then and see the situation."
The two chatted very casually, seeming to get along very comfortably.
Just like ordinary couples casually conversing.
Julian watched all this silently and finally lowered his eyes and withdrew his gaze.
He didn’t go in to disturb them but turned away.
As Julian left, Serena’s hand, wiping Seraphina’s arm, paused slightly, and she glanced at a nearby glass, then looked away.
She seemed to have seen a silhouette in the glass just now.
But she probably saw it wrong.
...
Days flowed like water.
Repeating day by day like this.
Throughout these days, Serena stayed by Seraphina’s side, and everything she needed to do was moved to the ward.
Seraphina gradually recovered.
Becoming more lively day by day.
With Silas visiting more frequently these days, and June Hawthorne and Orion Hawthorne visiting often too, Seraphina’s round eyes occasionally flashed with some mischief.
This day, Seraphina asked Serena secretly.
"Aunt Winters, are you going to date Uncle Mortimer?"
Serena blinked, how could such a young child know what dating is?
"I overheard Aunt Joy and Uncle Jasper saying that you want Uncle Mortimer to be my dad." Seraphina said with her big grape-like eyes.
Well then.
Serena thought for a moment and asked, "Then, can Seraphina accept him?"
Seraphina thought about it, nodded, and said, "He’s okay; Uncle Mortimer has a good temper, looks handsome, and paints well. His family’s cat recently learned a new trick; Uncle Orion showed me a video."
Serena laughed and kissed Seraphina’s forehead, "You like his family’s cat so much."
Seraphina nodded and said, "Mimi is so understanding!"
Just as the two were enjoying their time together, there was a knock at the door.
