Playtime's Over, CEO: She's Really Done With You
Chapter 308: Pain, He Is Utterly Fragile
CHAPTER 308: CHAPTER 308: PAIN, HE IS UTTERLY FRAGILE
Hawthorne Manor was filled with laughter and joy.
There was both laughter and tears.
On the other side, in the hospital.
As time slowly passed.
The journalists waiting in the hospital noticed that Jude Chaucer had disappeared for a while.
They also realized something must have happened.
So, they clamored, insisting that Jude Chaucer come out and give them an answer.
"Jude Chaucer promised us before," someone shouted, "He can’t go back on his word!"
The hospital staff had no choice but to notify Jude Chaucer.
At this moment, Jude Chaucer was dealing with Vera Hansen’s issues.
What Vera Hansen did was despicable, pretending to be sick! Even as an outsider, he couldn’t stand it.
When the hospital staff came over, Jude Chaucer was busy telling Vera Hansen to stop shouting.
Upon hearing the staff mention the issue, Vera Hansen screamed even louder: "Say what? No way to say it!"
Jude Chaucer roughly pulled Vera Hansen’s hand off of him.
"Stuff you did, dare not admit?" Jude Chaucer glanced at Vera Hansen.
Vera Hansen’s eyes were filled with hatred.
She truly regretted not acting sooner; otherwise, she would have dealt with Jude Chaucer long ago.
No way Jude Chaucer could strut in front of her!
"In any case, it can’t be said!" Vera Hansen stated, "I’m still in a match with Serena. If Brother Julian wants me to win, how can I win if this gets out?"
Jude Chaucer’s response was to ignore her.
Vera Hansen always had plenty of excuses.
If one truly bothered to consider these, many things couldn’t get done.
Jude Chaucer was just a working man, simply wanting a meal and to clock out.
No, he had to hint Julian Lawson to give him more bonuses lately to soothe his disgusted feelings.
Thinking this, Jude Chaucer instructed someone to keep an eye on Vera Hansen and left.
He walked all the way to Julian Lawson’s hospital room.
"Knock knock."
Jude Chaucer knocked on the door.
There was no response from inside.
After a moment’s thought, Jude Chaucer decided to open the door to the hospital room.
Whether to reveal it or not, this matter ultimately needed to be approved by Julian Lawson.
Thinking of this, Jude Chaucer approached Julian Lawson’s bedside.
"President Lawson, the journalists outside want Vera Hansen’s test results. Should we give them?" Jude Chaucer asked.
But Julian Lawson didn’t answer.
His eyes were vacant.
"President Lawson?" Jude Chaucer asked again.
"Do as you see fit," Julian Lawson replied hoarsely.
"Alright." Jude Chaucer nodded, then turned to leave.
This was something that could or couldn’t be said.
Vera Hansen had disliked him for a long time, and he couldn’t stand Vera Hansen for equally long.
So of course it had to be said!
Jude Chaucer left, leaving Julian Lawson alone in the hospital room.
However, not long after, the door was knocked and opened again.
Isla Lawson walked in.
"Brother Julian, what’s wrong?" Isla Lawson’s eyes were filled with worry.
This hospital collaborated with The Lawson Corporation, so as soon as Julian Lawson was carried away on a stretcher, they immediately received news.
"Grandfather and grandmother are still on their way. I was nearby, so I came first," Isla Lawson said with red eyes.
She looked again at Julian Lawson’s wounds.
"Was it because of Serena again?" Isla Lawson asked loudly.
Why, Julian Lawson too, Xander Linton too, only had eyes for Serena!
But Julian Lawson didn’t answer Isla Lawson’s question and just stared blankly at a point on the wall, calm yet desolate.
"Brother!" Isla Lawson couldn’t help but call out.
But still, Julian Lawson ignored her.
Isla Lawson couldn’t take it anymore, turned, and slammed the door as she left.
The door, affected by the force, swung open and closed, creaking as it moved.
Not long after, the elder Lawsons arrived.
The old lady pushed Old Master Lawson’s wheelchair.
The two appeared beside the hospital bed.
They exchanged a glance, having just learned all about the recent events.
They had long been aware of their grandson’s feelings for Serena.
When Serena got hurt for the second time because of her stepfather, William Wyatt, although they weren’t clear about the details, Julian Lawson was on the verge of losing control.
If they hadn’t stopped him.
William Wyatt might not have had the chance to be imprisoned and tried; he might’ve been killed by Julian Lawson.
At that time, it was Caleb Lawson who said: "If William Wyatt dies without explanation, how will you explain it to Serena? If you lose your freedom because of him, who will protect Serena?"
Only then did Julian Lawson control himself and manage everything afterward.
Now seeing Serena and Silas Hawthorne getting closer.
Julian Lawson had learned of the harm he’d brought to Serena.
How could he possibly bear it?
"Julian, what’s the use of being like this now?" the old lady said.
Caleb Lawson also snorted coldly, saying, "If you want her, you need to get her back, not lie here daydreaming!"
But Julian Lawson still didn’t respond.
What could he do to get her back?
After what he had done to her, how could she ever forgive him?
How on earth could he win her back?
The elder Lawsons said many things.
But Julian Lawson just kept staring blankly at the ceiling.
Finally, they wondered if he had hit his head silly and went to consult the doctor on his condition.
Leaving Julian Lawson there alone.
Julian Lawson lay on the hospital bed.
Surrounded by various machines, beeping away.
He stared blankly at the hospital’s pale ceiling, eyes vacant.
His body hurt intensely.
Everywhere hurt.
He picked up his phone, found Serena’s chat window.
He typed some words.
He wanted to tell her he had also fallen down the stairs.
He felt very sad.
Wanted to see her.
But then he suddenly remembered that she had already blocked him.
He remembered again.
During her hospital stay, he never once visited her.
The only time he went, he stood outside the hospital room, watching the scene from the balcony where she and Ethan Lynch leaned against each other.
He didn’t see her clearly, just her blurred silhouette through the glass door.
At that moment, he thought she had something going on with Ethan Lynch and was acting to spite him.
Now, knowing about her miscarriage and severe bleeding, he realized she was very weak back then, and Ethan Lynch was just supporting her.
He remembered again, at the charity auction gala, on the rooftop, what she had told him—
"President Lawson, don’t care too much about anyone outside of family, because that’s being unfaithful to her."
"She’ll be hurt."
...
"President Lawson, some people are neither here nor there."
"But some, once they’ve decided to leave, will never look back."
...
Pain.
Pain engulfed him.
He used to be proud, confident in everything.
Since childhood, he was decisive, swift in action.
Especially after leading The Lawson Corporation to successfully transform, surpassing the other two to become the top among Aeston’s three giants, he always believed he could control everything.
He never thought there could be anything or anyone in this world that could cause him such pain.
Now he knew.
Without her, what would he do?
Tears dropped from the corners of his eyes.
He couldn’t be without her.
