Playtime's Over, CEO: She's Really Done With You
Chapter 322: Forever Together
CHAPTER 322: CHAPTER 322: FOREVER TOGETHER
[My husband just woke up.]
After a while, the phone rang from the other side.
They asked about the related matters.
Remembering what the doctor said, the woman replied, "He just woke up for a bit and then fell asleep again, but the doctor said he will wake up later."
"Alright, I’ll call you once he wakes up."
...
Time slowly passed.
Serena spent the entire day trying to keep herself busy, otherwise, she would keep asking if Vera was found.
The main focus was actively pushing forward with the handover processes related to the Sheridan Family.
She spent the whole day going back and forth between the office and various locations.
Diligently following up and overseeing everything.
She also settled matters with her old subordinates from her time at The Lawson Corporation.
Some of them were willing to join her at the new company, while others weren’t.
Serena respected their decisions.
Silas wanted to stay by her side, but she asked him to handle matters at the Hawthorne Group.
She could manage on her own.
That’s what Serena thought.
She could handle it by herself.
The world is so vast, everyone has their own matters to deal with, and she would face more challenges in the future that she would need to overcome one by one.
Just then, Serena’s phone buzzed with a notification.
Vera posted an update.
-
Vera Hansen: I’ve seen all the speculations online. Honestly, I am jealous of Serena, I hate Serena, but the one thing everyone needs to understand is that I didn’t know Serena was pregnant. If I had deliberately pushed her, what was my motive? It was a hospital, at most Serena would have been injured by the fall, what was my purpose in doing this? To take such a huge risk for a moment of satisfaction?
It was merely an accident, yet it’s interpreted in this way. I don’t know where the conscience lies for certain people!
-
Everyone had their own opinions on this latest update.
Regarding Vera’s explanation, people reacted differently.
The few loyal fans Vera had left, along with Connor Goldsmith’s people, jumped to her defense—"Indeed, the timing and location were spontaneous, and not knowing about Serena’s pregnancy, Vera really had no reason or mind to plan all this."
Those who had been deceived by Vera and were now experiencing a backlash, insisted otherwise.
Most were just onlooking netizens with varying opinions.
Some even commented in user 567’s comment section.
The most liked comment was—[Sister or brother? Do you have any more information? Spill it all!]
But user 567 did not reply or post any new updates.
Serena put down her phone.
She didn’t really understand why Vera would do such a thing.
From what she knew about Vera, she was like an undefeatable cockroach, always having her reasons and playing the internet well, so Vera having done this must have her own reasons.
Just like before, Serena couldn’t figure out why Vera, who had everything she wanted, would still target her, only to later discover that Vera was faking illness.
"What is it this time?" Serena wondered, emotions churning.
She vaguely sensed there might be a big secret behind all this.
...
Soon it was evening, time to pick up Seraphina.
This was the interest class Seraphina was attending, currently a baking class.
Serena arrived at the place where Seraphina was, walking in as the scent of cookies wafted in the air.
She recalled Seraphina telling her earlier that today the teacher would guide them in making cookies.
Just as she was thinking about it, Seraphina came rushing out like a little cannonball.
"Serena!"
Seraphina hugged Serena’s leg tightly.
Serena smiled, bent down and gently touched Seraphina’s chubby face.
"Seraphina," Serena called her name too.
Seraphina smiled and then took Serena’s hand, leading her somewhere.
"Serena, come with me," said Seraphina, pulling Serena into a small kitchen.
There were many supplies here, clearly prepared for making cookies earlier.
Seraphina led Serena to a small table.
"I made these," Seraphina said, opening a small box nearby.
Inside were three small cookies with wobbly handwriting on them.
Serena, Silas, Sera.
These three cookies represented the three of them.
There were also colorful circles of icing, very pretty.
"I messed them up several times before finally getting them right," Seraphina admitted, looking at Serena with bright eyes, seeking praise.
Serena felt touched.
The emotions she had been suppressing all day nearly overflowed at that moment.
Serena embraced Seraphina, giving her a kiss on the cheek.
"They’re wonderful, very beautiful," Serena said with a nasal tone.
Seraphina hugged Serena back, her little hands patting Serena’s waist.
No further words were needed, but Serena understood.
"I actually had the cookies all packed up, but Silas said to make some more."
In Serena’s embrace, Seraphina continued, "So he asked me to bring you here."
Seraphina gestured to her side.
Serena looked over and saw Silas wearing an apron.
He noticed her gaze, smiling and raising the tool in his hand.
"Here’s a handy thing, Serena, come join us," Silas said.
Serena stood up, walking over to Silas’s side.
On the table were many semi-finished cookies that had already been baked.
It was clear Silas had completed the earlier processes, now just waiting for the icing colors to be applied.
Seraphina stood on a small chair to the side, watching these items intently.
"This one is me," Seraphina pointed to one of the gingerbread cookies.
Silas nodded encouragingly, urging Seraphina to continue.
"This one is Silas," Seraphina pointed at a slightly larger cookie, then indicated a slender one, "And this one is Serena."
"Did I get it right, Silas?" Seraphina asked, clapping her hands expectantly, looking up at Silas.
"Correct, Seraphina, you’re amazing," Silas praised generously, then looked at Serena.
He handed the tool to Serena, "Now it’s just the coloring remaining."
Serena took it, considering how to decorate the cookies.
Seraphina and Silas watched as Serena quickly added the icing.
Seeing the three cookies leaning together, Seraphina took out the previous ones and placed each in its corresponding spot.
Then, with one hand holding the other, she said softly, "Serena, Silas, let’s always be together."
