Pokemon - A real story
Chapter 893: Getting Ready
CHAPTER 893: GETTING READY
"You suspected that there was something wrong with the tower. Well, the secret relates to the tower.
I said that the only change the secret will bring will be an increase in the number of ghost-type Pokemon in the tide battle. But now, we cannot say what will happen. Something has changed.
So, if you want to leave, you can. I will formally sign anywhere you want and take full responsibility," said the mayor.
The mayor knew how scary Axel’s background and influence were. If Axel were to leave the tide battle, they might do something to save the city, but if Axel participated in it and something happened to him because of his secret, his life would be worse than death.
The mayor’s declaration scared all of them. They were all depending on Axel and his team to defend the southern side, but if Axel and his team were to leave, then who would defend the town? Was the mayor crazy?
Everyone looked at Axel for his answer.
"Hmm, don’t worry, I am not a coward who will run out. I will stay and protect this place, but I want some compensation.", said Axel.
"What do you want?"
"First of all, more money."
"Mr. Axel, I have already told you, I cannot give you more money than what we have already agreed to.", said the mayor.
"Oh, I know that. So, I will take all the carcasses from the south side and also 70% of the carcasses from the other sides.", Axel.
There was instant mayhem after this statement.
"That is just crazy."
"Mr. Axel, how can you be so cruel?"
"Mr. Axel, we also need to survive."
They started to discuss and negotiate, and finally, the agreed price was 40% of the carcasses from the other side and 100% from the southern side.
"My next condition is that you tell me about this secret.", said Axel.
This time, the mayor was furious.
’You took all the money and carcasses from me and others, and now you still want to know the secret? How sameless are you?’, thought the mayor.
"Mr. Axel, I still cannot tell you the secret," the mayor said in a serious voice.
Suddenly, everyone except for Krishna and Axel felt some sort of suppression. It was as if gravity had suddenly increased by quite a degree. But it didn’t feel exactly like that. They could not even move a single muscle.
This was Axel’s aura; finally, he had let it out. Looking at this hypocrite, he could not handle his anger.
Axel knew that if he and his team were to leave this place, the mayor and his family might save themselves by leaving the town, but the people living in this town would die.
With only a little over a week left, the mayor would not be able to find any help, but still, he thought to take this step, proposing that he leave while he takes the responsibility. He wanted to protect this so-called secret so much that he didn’t even care about the citizens he had sworn to protect. Axel hated these kinds of people a lot.
"You are ready to sacrifice the people of this town rather than your secret? You do know that if I leave, your town is done. Tell me your fucking secret or I will have to take some drastic measures.", said Axel.
He finally stopped his aura pressure on them, and they could now finally breathe.
The mayor had no chance now. He had to tell his family’s secret. Everyone was looking at him with sinister eyes. Specially, the soldiers from the league.
They could not comprehend before, but after hearing from Axel, they realized that the mayor was ready to sacrifice the people of the town and them because they were duty-bound to protect this town.
The league’s reputation was at an all-time low, mainly due to the royal family of the Kanto region and Axel. If they were to leave this place, too, Gerad, the leader of the Kanto League Division, would not spare them alive.
This angered all of them, and now the mayor could feel that he might die anytime.
"Sigh, let me tell you the secret. This secret has been with my family for the longest time, since the tower was built. The tower was built around 4000 years ago by my ancestors.
I don’t even know the exact date. At that time, it was called ’The Boneyard Cemetery’. The tower had multiple functions and purposes. It was made so that we could fight against wild Pokemon and the tide battle. It has a mechanism to suck ghost-type energy from the surroundings and store it.
The sucked ghost-type energy will then be used not only to train the ghost-type Pokemon but also as a deterent for the wild Pokemon. My father called it a final stance.
But slowly, over the years, the details on how to use it to train our ghost-type Pokemon disappeared.
But my family wanted to preserve this tower. Not only to battle the wild Pokemon but also as a symbol of our family."
"What about the lock on the 10th floor of the tower? What is inside there?", asked Axel.
"I don’t know. This is a secret that I don’t even know. There is nothing in the history books. It is said that the locks were last opened 1000 years ago, and almost everyone from my family died then. Someone placed a seal on that lock, and no one has been able to open it till now."
Axel already knew what was inside that lock, so he didn’t question the mayor further.
But Gary wanted to know.
"So, you don’t even know that’s inside? What if something really bad is there? Why didn’t you report to the league?"
"Mr. Gary, you should realize that this is the last symbol of my family. If I were to tell the league, they would destroy this tower, and I don’t want that."
Axel felt that he must educate this idiot.
"Mr. Mayor, you just said that the tower has the power to suck all the ghost-type energy and store it to train and use it as a bomb at the time of need.
Now, you have neither used all that stored ghost-type energy to train your Pokemon nor have you used it to fight the wild Pokemon. So, the tower has been storing all that ghost-type energy for more than 1000 years. Now, just think about what would happen to all that ghost-type energy if it were to explode or if something bad happened to it."
The mayor’s face changed instantly.
"Is that even possible?"
The mayor was a normal human. He knew nothing about infinite energy and how it could be used.
"Sigh, you are stupid. After the tide battle is over, I will tell Prince Kymar all of this, and he will decide your punishment. Your negligence and greed to keep this a secret have led us to this stage.
Now, you said that something had changed in the tower. What is it?"
The mayor then said that no spirits had been trapped in the tower and that it felt different.
"So, you are saying that now you are not even sure about the tower’s status? " sighed Axel.
How incompetent could a man really be?
"What should we do now?", asked Gary.
"Let me first investigate the tower.", said Axel.
###
Axel did a routine check of the tower. It was all an act. He said that the tower is safe right now and has no spirits or ghost-type energy stored. He also said that he was unable to open that lock.
This frightened the league commanders. If ghost-type energy had not been stored, as the mayor had said, where had it gone?
This was a genuine question. Of course, Axel was not going to tell them anything about it.
###
In a dimly lit room, there was one man and two Pokemon. They were Axel, Shedinja, and Gengar. There were two lockets in Gengar’s hand, and both were shining in blue light, yet both looked different in a certain way.
"Marcus, these two lockets will be used to train you.", said Gengar.
"Can he start to suck these ghost-type energy for his benefit?", asked Axel. This would rapidly raise the rank of Shedinja to a higher level.
"Haha, that is impossible for Shedinja right now. Sucking such a potent and powerful ghost-type energy that has been refined for so many years is not something Shedinja can do right now.
But it will be able to do it in the future.
Now, I will take the shadow realm’s locket. That is too dangerous for you. If you get infected by the will of Giratina, then there is no coming back for you.
But I will give you the other locket to wear around your neck. Don’t worry, the locket cannot be broken so easily, and it will not come out of you until you want to."
Gengar explained the reason for keeping this locket with Shedinja. Even though Shedinja was not ready to suck and manipulate the stored ghost-type energy, it could still try to get familar with it.
The locket had stored all that energy, and it was sealed, but the aura that the locket gave was still very dangerous.
"You need to get used to this aura and try to win it over. This will be your next training mission."
After talking with Shedinja for some time, Gengar vanished. Axel could feel that Shedinj and Gengar had become closer than before. Now, Gengar treated Shedinja as if it were a part of his tribe.
###
A few days passed, and he heard another piece of news from the mayor: the number of ghost-type Pokemon that they would be facing had decreased significantly.
"What is the exact number?"
"We don’t know the exact number, but it has greatly decreased. It looks like when the ghost-type energy from the tower vanished, the ghost-type Pokemon doesn’t look interested in the tide battle.", said the mayor.
"Thanks for the info."
After getting the info, Axel had a short meeting with the commanders.
"Sir, the tide battle might start at any time now. We are all ready for it," said Hector.
"What about the new plan that we have discussed about Pokemon that are in rare and elemental ranks?", asked Axel.
"That is ready too. But, sir, should we do that? I mean, it is quite risky."
"Yes, it is quite risky. Don’t worry, none of us will be hurt. Only use it when I give my command.", said Axel.
