CHAPTER 643: TEMPORARY IDENTITY

This ecological laboratory was built in the eastern part of Anistar City. It was a massive square-shaped building, imposing in appearance. At the entrance of the laboratory, there was also an ancient-looking stone tablet with a moss-like, blurred Z-shaped symbol engraved on it.

Terrance was waiting in front of this stone tablet. Although the reception hall inside the laboratory had air conditioning and sofas, it was clear that the stone tablet held a greater attraction for him.

"The Pokémon that protects the ecosystems, Zygarde..."

This ancient pattern wasn’t made of moss. It must have been an imitation of Zygarde’s appearance drawn by ancient people, later discovered by the research team and placed here as a symbol.

He had been observing this stone tablet for a long time, pondering a single question.

Why, in the legends, does Zygarde only monitor the Kalos Region’s ecosystem?

Just as Terrance was fully focused on examining the ancient stone tablet, two surprised voices suddenly called out. When he turned around to look for the owners of the familiar voices, he immediately found it difficult to remain calm.

Many people were approaching, but the woman in the lead, with a single braided ponytail hanging down her back, caused Terrance to break into a joyful smile.

"Teacher Teresa?" Terrance quickly stepped forward, not expecting to meet her again in such a way.

After searching so hard, he found her right here without any effort: "And Akon..."

Seeing the boy with the bowl-cut hair emerge from the crowd, Terrance initially felt a bit unsure, but that doubt vanished completely now.

Teacher Teresa and Akon walking together. There was no doubt, they were the ones he knew.

"Why are you...?" Teacher Teresa quickly glanced at the dusty researchers around her, said something to the elderly white-haired man leading them, then grabbed Terrance and walked away.

Akon was still stunned and hadn’t recovered, but seeing the two leave, he quickly followed.

"Terrance? Judging by the age, he shouldn’t be the Terrance from this timeline!!"

He was deeply shocked inside. He couldn’t understand why Terrance had also appeared in this timeline. If he and Teacher Teresa arrived due to an accident, then how did Terrance get here?

In the end, Terrance was received by Teacher Teresa in a separate room.

Sitting on the sofa, he stared wide-eyed at Akon and Teacher Teresa. With a helpless cough, Terrance broke the silence.

However, what greeted him was a sigh from Teacher Teresa.

"Alright, start talking, what happened?"

"Teacher Julian sent a message saying you and Akon had... well, lost contact during your training journey. Once your location was narrowed down, I went with some teachers to search the Annapurna mountain range."

"It’s just... I didn’t expect that this search would lead me here." Terrance gave a bitter smile.

"Who brought you here?" Teacher Teresa asked.

"Celebi," Terrance replied, then described how he encountered Celebi and how Celebi took him through time.

"I knew it." Slapping her forehead, Teacher Teresa rubbed it in frustration and said, "This is big trouble. Do you realize that the time you’re spending in this timeline flows at the same speed as back there?"

"In other words, if you can’t return, or if it even takes you several years to return, then several years will have passed over there as well."

"If you didn’t leave any information beforehand and suddenly vanished, wouldn’t that make you just as impossible to find as the two of us were?"

"I made some preparations..." Terrance began to sweat, replying cautiously, "But... this was all an accident, right? Besides, as long as I go back quickly, a few days shouldn’t cause too much damage, right?"

"It’s not that easy." Akon stood up and said, "Teacher Teresa spent seven years before she could return here."

"Seven years? What do you mean?" Terrance froze.

Looking toward Teacher Teresa, Terrance finally learned the truth through her weary explanation.

Teresa Stuart, born in Kalos, showed remarkable intelligence from a young age and traveled throughout Kalos with her father’s research team. At the age of seventeen, she was caught up in an incident involving poachers trying to capture Celebi, and was forcibly transported to the timeline where Terrance lived.

In other words, Teacher Teresa originally belonged to this timeline. Celebi bringing her back was only returning her to where she belonged. Akon and Terrance were the truly innocent ones who had been dragged into a different timeline.

"This..."

Terrance was rendered speechless. The whole situation was rather chaotic.

"I already felt guilty enough for dragging Akon into this. Now even you..." Teacher Teresa said seriously, "Since arriving in this timeline, we’ve gone on three expeditions, all to the Annapurna mountain range, but still haven’t found any trace of that Celebi."

"If we can’t find Celebi to send the two of you back to your original timeline, you might end up like me, living for years, or even an entire lifetime, in a world that isn’t your own."

As she finished speaking, Terrance did not show the panic Teresa had expected.

Instead, he slowly pulled out a glowing leaf sealed in packaging from his pocket and said, "That Celebi is actually with me. It just seems to have fallen into a deep sleep from overusing its powers and merged into this leaf."

"As long as it wakes up, I think we should be able to return."

Terrance spoke calmly, but then looked at Teacher Teresa with confusion. "What about you?"

After asking, Terrance realized the question was unnecessary. She had returned to her original timeline and had no reason to go back.

"Me? That place doesn’t belong to me," Teresa replied.

As expected...

Terrance looked at Akon. In that case, just bringing Akon back would be good enough.

"Terrance, you... found Celebi?" Akon’s eyes sparkled with joy.

"Akon!" Teresa scolded sharply. From Akon’s hopeful expression, she had already guessed his thoughts.

Before, she may have supported Akon’s dreams, but after returning to her own timeline, she had become strongly opposed to casually traversing timelines.

"You understand the consequences, don’t you?" Teacher Teresa said sternly.

"What consequences?" Terrance was bewildered.

Akon lowered his head in silence. Teresa paused, then looked at Terrance with a complex expression and said, "If I’m not mistaken, every time Celebi uses its power to travel to a new timeline, it pushes that timeline’s course in a different direction..."

"Terrance, do you know what your identity is in this timeline?"

"What?" Terrance was shaken.

"After returning, I deliberately investigated old acquaintances and found out that you... are just a restaurant waiter in Cerulean City, Kanto."

As Teacher Teresa finished speaking, Terrance fell into deep thought. A waiter?

He didn’t dwell on the part about changing the timeline. Teresa didn’t know his true identity, but he did. He was a different kind of transmigrator.

So the original path of "Terrance" was to become an ordinary waiter?

From a waiter to a Top Trainer, just how big of a storm had his butterfly wings stirred?

"So before you two leave this timeline, try not to change too many things..." Although Teresa didn’t know exactly what might happen, seeing Terrance go from Gym Leader to waiter in this timeline was enough to scare her.

In that other timeline, Teresa had always kept a close eye on Pokémon like Celebi. She had collected a great deal of information on it, but she still couldn’t explain Celebi’s current condition.

Even though she was eager to send Terrance and Akon back to their original timeline, as long as Celebi remained asleep, the power to time travel could not be used.

Waiting for Celebi to awaken from its slumber was what Terrance would do next. In the meantime, Teresa planned to pull some strings to get him a temporary citizen identity to make living and traveling easier.

On the second day of his stay at the Anistar Ecological Laboratory, Terrance learned more from Teacher Teresa.

It had to be said, they owed a lot to Teacher Teresa and her father’s influence. Otherwise, finding a place to stay for a while would have been extremely difficult for Akon and Terrance.

Teresa felt deeply guilty for dragging Akon and Terrance into the Celebi incident. Before Celebi awakened, she did everything she could to help them resolve some issues.

However, neither Akon nor Terrance seemed weighed down by the troubles of timeline travel. Getting to experience the training concepts and Pokémon knowledge from four years in the future, Terrance’s worldview had expanded significantly.

"This person..." While staying at the hotel and quietly waiting for Celebi to wake up, Terrance came across a fascinating Trainer on the internet.

This Trainer’s Pokémon were all notably massive in size, far beyond the average for their species. It seemed to be the result of a unique breeding method used by that person.
