"Welcome back, Professor Theodore."
Vladimir extended his hand toward Theodore as he emerged from the space passage.
Theodore stepped forward and clasped Vladimir's hand in a firm handshake. "I apologize for all the trouble this time."
Chris turned back and thanked his companion. "Thank you so much, Chris."
"Don't mention it. I stayed at your villa for free before, remember?" Chris waved his hand dismissively. Shortly after Chris had successfully captured Bronzong and Metagross, Theodore managed to subdue all the controlled Electric-type Pokémon that had been causing problems.
After waiting for some time, Vladimir sent word that the equipment was ready for their return.
Soon, the space channel established a connection. Chris and Vladimir were now back at Dragon University, safe and sound.
However, when leaving that mysterious space, Chris had specifically asked Gardevoir to place a psychic mark at the location.
This was Zapdos's "nest," and Chris suspected the Legendary Pokémon might return once it discovered that the intruders had left. Therefore, Chris planned to revisit the area after some time had passed.
The only disappointing aspect was that despite Zapdos making its nest there, Chris had used his treasure detector throughout the area and found only a single Pokémon item.
Chris wasn't sure if Zapdos was genuinely poor in terms of collected treasures, or if this location wasn't its primary nesting site.
"You are our professor at Dragon University. How could helping you ever be considered troublesome?" Vladimir said with a warm smile. Behind him stood the researchers from Theodore's laboratory, all eagerly awaiting their mentor's return.
"Welcome home, Professor Theodore!"
"We've prepared a celebration feast for you!"
Seeing their "boss" again after an entire year of absence, all the researchers had tears of joy in their eyes.
Theodore nodded slightly toward them, acknowledging their enthusiasm.
"Let's hold the reception banquet tomorrow evening. Right now, I just want to sleep well, and I need to clean myself up tomorrow morning."
Theodore gestured toward the thick beard that had grown on his face during his long absence.
Therefore, Theodore departed first, and the research team members gradually dispersed to their respective homes.
Chris and Vladimir had first ventured into the Malaya forest during the morning hours, but they had entered the space crack around midday. It had been 9 AM in China at that time, and now twelve hours had passed, making it approximately 9 PM, nearly 10 PM.
Chris and Vladimir left the university together, as Chris planned to spend the night at his villa on the 7th Trial Island.
"By the way, Teacher, what do you know about white lightning?"
The two were walking along the main avenue of Dragon University when Chris suddenly asked the question.
"White lightning?"
"What type are you referring to? Do you have a picture?"
Chris looked around carefully, and after confirming there was no one else in the vicinity, he took out a Premier Ball and released its contents.
Zeraora suddenly materialized in front of both of them.
Seeing the white-colored Zeraora standing before him, Vladimir fell silent for a moment. The corners of his mouth twitched slightly, and he glanced at Chris once more.
Afterward, his expression returned to normal composure, and he let out a quiet breath.
In just those few seconds, Vladimir's emotions had experienced what felt like a roller coaster ride.
First, surprise at seeing Zeraora, then shock at discovering it was a Shiny Pokémon.
But upon seeing Chris, Vladimir remembered his student's Mega Shiny Gardevoir, Totem-sized Salamence, Greninja capable of special transformation, and other remarkable Pokémon.
The appearance of a Shiny Zeraora suddenly didn't seem so incomprehensible after all.
Wait a moment!
This was a Legendary Pokémon! Not an ordinary Pokémon! They weren't in the same category at all.
A Shiny Legendary Pokémon? This wasn't just a question of rarity anymore. Such creatures had never appeared since ancient times! The future... the future was genuinely uncertain.
Since Chris had already captured a Shiny Zeraora, it wouldn't be surprising if he captured another Shiny Legendary Pokémon in the future.
"You... boy, did you come here specifically to show off?" Vladimir noticed that Chris had been carefully observing his facial expressions, and immediately understood what was happening.
"Heh heh heh..." Chris grinned sheepishly. It was impossible to deny that he hadn't meant to show off at least a little. It was rare to have an opportunity to make his respected teacher lose composure.
"Zeraora, demonstrate your lightning."
Zeraora extended its sharp claws and snapped its fingers. White electrical current immediately began dancing at its fingertips.
Seeing this display, Vladimir immediately narrowed his eyes in concentration.
"This is... Plasma Lightning?!"
"What is Plasma Lightning?" Chris asked urgently.
He was no longer the rookie trainer who had just entered the world of Pokémon training. After two years of dedicated study, Chris had learned a tremendous amount.
When the color of a Pokémon's type-based power changes, it often signifies that the type's power has undergone "sublimation."
Take Charizard as an example.
The flames produced by ordinary Charizard are orange-red, which is the typical color of flames used by most Fire-type Pokémon.
However, after Charizard undergoes Mega Evolution, the color of its flames will change dramatically.
Mega Charizard X's flames on its tail and the flames it projects all turn blue. If it evolves into Mega Charizard Y, the flame on its tail and the flames it breathes will turn a deep red color.
Research has shown that Mega Charizard X's blue flames burn significantly hotter than the usual orange-red flames.
If the probability of a Pokémon being burned by a standard Fire-type move is thirty percent, then the probability of a Pokémon being burned by blue flames exceeds fifty percent.
However, Mega Charizard Y's crimson flames have a temperature that is thirty percent higher than normal flames, which makes the crimson flames considerably more powerful!
Therefore, Pokémon scholars have categorized different colored manifestations of attributes such as flames, water flow, lightning, and others.
Chris currently knew about four different types of lightning.
The most common type of lightning is yellow. Red lightning is called "Crash Thunder," which possesses the most destructive power. Purple lightning is called "Poison Thunder," which usually carries negative effects and increases the probability of paralysis. Blue lightning is called "Swift Thunder," which is the fastest known type of lightning.
As for "Plasma Lightning," this was the first time Chris had heard of such a classification.
"I also read about it in a research book."
"Plasma Lightning is Zeraora's unique form of lightning. Compared to ordinary lightning, it has significantly more penetrating power and can even pierce through steel plates. At the same time, this penetrating ability also provides faster speed," Vladimir explained thoughtfully.
"You can understand it as an upgraded version of standard Thunder attacks, with the additional effect of penetrating defensive barriers."
Chris nodded thoughtfully.
It seemed that Zeraora's speed wasn't only excellent due to its naturally high Speed base stat, but also received assistance from this unique Plasma Lightning.
"However, this information comes only from that particular research book, and the author didn't record the process of reaching these conclusions. You'll have to conduct your own tests to determine what kind of effects this lightning actually produces," Vladimir reminded him, then continued.
"I have a question for you as well."
"What is it?"
"Regarding your special Greninja, when will you release the research report you promised?"
Chris thought for a moment before replying.
"Wait until I become an Elite of China!"
