It took over half an hour to arrive at the location determined by Mega Gardevoir.
Chris opened his map and checked their current position—they were now at Route 130. They had flown over Slateport City, passed through Pacifidlog Town, and finally stopped several hundred nautical miles south of Sootopolis City.
Strictly speaking, this shouldn't even count as Route 130, since this location wasn't marked on any official map of the Hoenn Region.
Not far away, the island remained shrouded in mist, with its Liechi Berries looking remarkably appealing.
It had been surprisingly easy for Chris to locate the island once he understood the situation.
When he thought about it carefully, this island was essentially a mirage. The phantom image appeared on Route 107, but the actual island existed on Route 130.
Chris directed Lugia to move closer to the island.
This time, the island didn't disappear, and Chris was able to approach it directly, but there was still one problem.
He couldn't touch anything.
Chris reached out his hand to pluck a Liechi Berry from a nearby tree, but his fingers passed right through it.
Everything before his eyes appeared completely normal and visible, but remained intangible.
"Nai~ (We have only broken through the spatial power blockade. The temporal power barrier has not been lifted yet)"
"Nai~ (The island exists in a different temporal dimension than ours)" Mega Gardevoir explained clearly.
Chris nodded in understanding.
However, this didn't prevent him from exploring the island and discovering what treasures awaited him once he could properly access it.
He rode Lugia as they continued circling around the mysterious island.
Soon, Chris made an incredible discovery in a massive flower field located at the very center of the island.
There was an enormous flower field covering the island's center, with mountains and plains filled entirely with legendary-level Pokemon items called "Gracidea"!
That's right—it was the same "Gracidea" item that Chris had obtained from the Gym in the real world, the item connected to the legendary Pokemon Shaymin!
"Could they all be legendary-level Pokemon items?" Chris swallowed nervously as he considered this possibility. If true, it would be absolutely extraordinary.
The shock this small island brought to Chris wasn't limited to just that discovery.
The massive appearance of Gracidea here was probably not accidental, because Chris soon spotted the Pokemon directly related to these items.
Shaymin!
It resembled a small hedgehog with snow-white fur, a piece of green grass growing from its back, and a pink flower positioned beside its ear.
The Shaymin that Chris found was lying lazily in the Gracidea bushes, taking a peaceful nap with its front paws folded, showing no signs of alertness whatsoever.
Suddenly, a swift green shadow darted through the bushes at the far end of the field, flying directly toward Chris before grabbing Shaymin and pulling it away.
Shaymin, who had been sleeping soundly, awakened with a startled expression, its four paws flailing frantically in panic.
Chris could only watch helplessly as Shaymin was carried away.
"Celebi?" Chris exclaimed in astonishment.
The Pokemon that had taken Shaymin was none other than Celebi, known as the Time Travel Pokemon.
"That explains where the temporal power surrounding this island comes from," Chris thought, reaching out to pat Lugia's neck. "Follow them and see what happens."
Lugia flapped its wings gently, and its massive body flew forward swiftly. Since the surrounding flowers, plants, and trees were merely images, there was no need to dodge obstacles—they could fly straight through everything at maximum speed!
Within moments, Chris had caught up with Celebi and Shaymin.
Immediately, Celebi began flying even faster, and Shaymin struggled with greater intensity.
Chris paused for a moment, then realized something important: If he could see them through the temporal barrier, then it was entirely possible for them to see him through their temporal power as well.
It was perfectly natural for the two small Pokemon, Shaymin and Celebi, to be frightened when a massive creature like Lugia was chasing after them.
So Celebi had grabbed Shaymin and fled precisely because it had spotted Chris approaching.
Chris chuckled at this realization and decided to stop pursuing them. He patted Lugia's back, signaling for it to ascend higher into the sky.
Looking down from several hundred meters above, Chris observed Shaymin and Celebi as they gradually settled down once they were no longer being pursued, confirming his theory.
He spent some time surveying the area from this elevated position.
During his aerial reconnaissance, Chris also discovered two additional Shaymin and eight more Celebi scattered throughout the island.
It became clear that this was indeed a natural habitat for both Shaymin and Celebi, though he still couldn't determine the source of the spatial power that concealed this island.
"Once I figure out how to dispel the temporal power, I can come back and catch some Shaymin and Celebi," Chris said to himself. He definitely had plans to train at least one Shaymin.
In his current lineup, only Totem Venusaur represented the Grass-type.
He still possessed Shaymin's exclusive legendary-level Pokemon item, the "Gracidea."
Though it should be different from the countless Gracidea covering the island's landscape.
As for Celebi...
"Time travel—now that's truly irresistible appeal," Chris thought about the endless possibilities.
For example, he could travel to Sinnoh two thousand years in the past, to the Hisui region, where many Pokemon that no longer existed in the modern era could still be found.
Or perhaps he could visit the future.
Chris, who had played "Pokemon Scarlet and Violet," knew that many Pokemon had "future" forms. If he could travel to places filled with future Pokemon, there would be countless new species to catch and train.
The thought made Chris practically drool with anticipation.
The only problem was that he still hadn't discovered where the Paldea region was located...
Putting aside these thoughts for now, Chris opened his status panel and teleported directly back to Ever Grande City, the headquarters of the Hoenn Alliance.
As for this mission involving the unique Shaymin and Celebi island, it would have to be postponed for the time being. However, he could at least turn in the completed portions involving Archer and Proton.
After submitting that mission, Chris planned to use the map he'd just obtained to travel to the Johto Region and explore that area. He wanted to see if any new missions would appear in his task queue.
After flying to Ever Grande City and receiving treatment at the Pokemon Center, Chris submitted his completed mission to the Alliance headquarters.
Indeed, no new missions had appeared in his task queue.
However, Chris discovered that both of his recent missions showed completion markers.
One involved Team Rocket, and the other concerned Shaymin and Celebi.
The Team Rocket mission had been completed normally since he had successfully captured Archer and Proton, but the island mission could also be marked as completed somehow.
"Is it because the island is no longer visible on Route 107?" Chris speculated, and this seemed like the only logical explanation.
"That works out perfectly," Chris smiled slightly, because he noticed that the Alliance had already deposited 2,000 contribution points into his account.
This meant he now had accumulated 3,000 contribution points total, enough to purchase legendary-level Pokemon items!
