But Logan wasn't happy at all.

He gently tried to push Green off him, but she didn't move even an inch. It wasn't that Logan hadn't used force—rather, it was proof of just how tightly Green was clinging onto him.

The temperature of the space around them dropped rapidly. Not in a physical sense, but like a crushing mental weight pressing down from all directions.

Standing ten meters ahead was Sabrina, her beautiful face devoid of expression. She didn't speak, didn't even move, only stood with her arms crossed, exuding an oppressive aura so heavy it made the air hard to breathe. The calmness she displayed only added to the pressure.

Green's delicate body shivered. Loud enough for the three of them present to hear, she muttered with mockery:

"...So scary, darling. This woman's absolutely terrifying. No wonder no one wants her. Women in their menopause years are completely unreasonable—seeing young lovers together just makes them lash out in jealousy."

As if things weren't tense enough already, Green deliberately provoked Sabrina further.

Logan could only think: If you said all that just to anger Sabrina, then congratulations Green—you've succeeded. Because Sabrina wasn't the type to bicker with words. She only had one method of "arguing"—

Future Sight!

At some point, Sabrina had already commanded her Alakazam to bury a ticking psychic bomb within this space. The moment Green's words landed, Sabrina detonated it.

A terrifying wave of psychic energy exploded like a gravitational ripple, distorting the very air and crushing everything in its radius. And at the very center of the blast zone? Logan and Green.

Only a fool would stand still to be obliterated by Future Sight. Logan instantly prepared to move, but Green's arms clung desperately around his body. If he was going to dodge, he'd have no choice but to take her with him.

In a swift motion, he wrapped one arm around her slender waist and sprinted to the side. At the same time, Eevee evolved in a flash of light into Jolteon. Logan seized Jolteon's paw—activating Agility at once.

Jolteon vanished in a bolt of lightning, carrying Logan and Green out of the blast's epicenter just in time.

As expected, this was a trap all along. Logan knew Sabrina too well—she never fought without preparation.

From Sabrina's perspective, Logan clutching Green while dodging attacks was confirmation enough. Days ago on Cinnabar Island, she had already witnessed their intimate closeness. Now, seeing them fight side by side in an embrace only fanned the flames of jealousy and fury. Normally known for her cold, elegant composure, Sabrina lost all rationality in that moment.

"If that's the case, then you two disgusting lovebirds can die here together! Illusion Wave!"

Sabrina finally unleashed her full power. Alakazam raised its spoons, blasting a torrent of visible psychic light.

"Thunder Wave!"

Logan's voice rang out. Sparks erupted before Jolteon, forming an electromagnetic barrier that intercepted the psychic blast.

"Ugh... cough!"

The psychic shockwave struck like a hammer to the chest. Logan and Jolteon were hurled backward, crashing across the ground before managing to land. The defense had blocked the worst of Alakazam's psychic energy—but the physical reverberation rattled Logan's insides, leaving him coughing painfully.

"Darling, are you okay?!"

Green threw her arms around him in concern, though the sly glint at the corner of her eyes betrayed the smug satisfaction she felt at provoking Sabrina.

Just as planned.

"I'm fine," Logan shook his head, then quickly ordered, "Green, use Blastoise—cover the entire ground with water!"

"No problem!"

Though cunning and mischievous, Green knew she couldn't match Logan's battle expertise. In combat, she followed his commands without hesitation. Tossing out a Poké Ball, she cried:

"Did you hear that, my little turtle? Make this battlefield into a water paradise!"

With a booming roar, Blastoise appeared, unleashing torrents of water from its cannons. It didn't attack—only flooded the ground until the arena resembled a shallow reservoir.

Sabrina narrowed her eyes, wary. Is he planning to conduct electricity through the water—or something else? She floated slightly higher with psychic levitation, putting more distance between herself and the flooded ground.

But Logan was already setting his counter. Using a hidden surge of psychic energy, he secretly placed a device onto Green's body without her noticing. A faint smirk curled at his lips. Jolteon suddenly shimmered, transforming into Vaporeon!

"Vaporeon—Acid Armor!"

Acid Armor?!

Sabrina's eyes widened. Few Water-types could use this technique. It allowed the Pokémon to liquefy its body entirely, becoming indistinguishable from water to avoid attacks or ambush prey. And with the field flooded, finding one puddle among thousands was impossible.

The entire battlefield had just become a death trap.

Yet what Vaporeon did next stunned everyone—including Green herself.

"Behold my secret ninja technique—Water Escape!" Logan declared theatrically.

In sync, Vaporeon leapt gracefully like a mermaid, then wrapped itself around Logan. In the next instant, both man and Pokémon melted into liquid, vanishing completely.

Sabrina had seen ninja Koga use techniques like this to escape battles, but never imagined Logan could master it to this degree.

The space fell into silence. The only two left—Sabrina and Green—reacted very differently.

Sabrina's cold lips curved into delighted laughter, while Green's eyes filled with despairing tears.

"How bold," Sabrina mused. "To actually use Acid Armor on yourself, turning into water along with your Pokémon... that requires complete mastery of power and an unshakable bond with your partner. One mistake and your life would be lost. To think he trained his Eevee to this level in just months... Impressive. But—"

Her words dissolved into wild, unrestrained laughter. She clutched her chest, laughing until her body shook, even coughing from the joy. "This is what you call true love, little girl? Hahaha! Let me show you instead. With a body as pitifully flat as yours, how could you ever capture a man's heart? Your little lover has already abandoned you and run away!"

Green's face turned pale, but she forced a defiant smile.

"Hmph, don't be so smug. You think my darling ran away? He's only hiding—waiting to strike at the perfect moment."

Inside her mind, however, Green was screaming: You cunning bastard! I hadn't even played my tricks on you yet, and you went and tricked me first!

Still, her words made Sabrina hesitate. She knew Logan too well—he was sly, calculating, and loved ambushes. Could he really have just fled? Or was he lurking nearby, waiting to strike?

The battlefield grew tense again. One girl scanning for danger, the other too weak to attack but unwilling to surrender.

Meanwhile, Logan was already long gone.

As a man, only a fool would throw himself into a battle between two women. Sabrina had raw power, Green had endless tricks—either way, they wouldn't kill each other outright. And Logan had already placed a contingency on Green that guaranteed both of them would survive, no matter who won.

So he had run off well in advance.

Just as planned.
