CHAPTER 52: OMNI FAE

(Alnilam)

She can’t believe I am offering her the opportunity to train with me. Let out her magic and let me guide her with it.

"With all due respect, you are a warlock, not a fae. Our magic is different. How will you help me with it?" she says without hesitation. She speaks her mind and doesn’t care if it will land her in trouble.

My eyes waver to her bandaged head and guilt courses through me. I never meant for her to get hurt.

A fleeting emotion blasts through me before disappearing.

When TJ came to me, informing me that she needed blood and only mine matched hers, I quietly went to donate and told him not to inform her. Deep down I knew she resented me and might not accept my blood.

Nor did I want her to think that I was doing her some kind of favour or having pity on her after giving her punishment.

From the moment I have witnessed her true form my magic and wolf both have been extremely restless. Every time Jamina tries to touch me, my wolf growls inside my head.

I am not sure if it’s the magical Fae blood or if she carries some charm about her. Fae have always fascinated me and I have spent countless hours studying them, studying their magic and everything there was to learn about them.

Does she have wings? Male Faes are born with wings while females only acquire them when they mate. Since she was mated to Alpha Tarian, maybe she has wings. But I never saw them when she transformed.

Could they not have sprouted because she has suppressed her Fae side?

Personally, I have always stood against the notion of punishing the whole Fae kind for the crimes of one. But by the time I grew up to make a difference, there were no Fae left in our continent. The Dread Army had wiped them out.

Now seeing Amaia, makes me want to protect and guide her. Even though I don’t agree with her methods or the path she is taking, I am not going to spill her secret or hand her over.

She tests me, my patience, my control, my morals but still I want to be near her. Make sure she doesn’t fall into the wrong hands or lead my brothers down the wrong path.

I still don’t trust her, I know nothing about her magic and abilities she might possess so I will need to be careful.

’Maybe she doesn’t know of some of her abilities and you just judge her like a psychotic controlling asshole,’ Snow offers in my head, making me pissed.

Jerking him off and the thoughts he put in my head, I focus on Amaia.

"Magic is magic. And I can guarantee you I know more about Fae magic than anyone else you will find around here." I leave my position and take a step forward, placing the heavy book revolving around Fae magic on my desk.

"Not like I have the liberty to choose."

She gulps, her breath comes out in a heavy pant and her heartbeat rises. She always seems affected in my presence for some reason. I know people idolise Enforcers, almost worship them. With what happened between us last time we were in each other’s proximity it must have left some mark with her, as it did with me.

I don’t understand this connection but maybe it’s the magic we both possess that pulls us towards each other.

"Come, we will speak and practice in my study." Going around my desk, I press the hidden button under it.

~Whirr~

The machinery works and the floor-length bookshelf parts from the centre, revealing my secret study.

She observes it with wide eyes and doesn’t move. I can sense hesitation, confusion, even trepidation.

"We can’t have anyone overhearing our conversation, there is a lot I need to discuss with you." I gesture with my hand and she hesitatingly moves, entering my sanctuary.

It’s my treasure trove, a hidden corner. I don’t bring anyone here, but if I am to help Amaia with her magic, that’s the safest place.

She awkwardly stands inside the dark space, patiently waiting. I enter behind her, carrying the matchbox. Lighting one I locate the different candles and light them up, flooding the place with yellowish light.

Her eyes widen even more as she glances around the place I have set up. Books are my number one passion, all my free time is spent reading, and I like to collect limited edition books from the old world. The books are a novelty now and a very limited amount is printed.

Not only books but stylish notebooks, diaries, pens, any kind of stationery I can find, be it on the black market or through barter, I acquire it and place it here, behind the glass cabinets.

I offer her a seat on one of the single sofas, and she sits down, but her eyes remain glued to my collection.

"You are a collector," she states and I just nod.

"I try." I shrug my shoulders taking a seat opposite her.

"Impressive." Her eyes find their way back to me. I press the button on the lower side of my seat, closing the partition and hiding us away.

She fidgets in her seat a bit, her hands resting on one another. I notice a black ribbon-like cloth on her left wrist with a tiny black flower on it. This is new, I haven’t seen it before.

"So, this is what we are going to do. When the rest of your classmates have the ’Offensive and Defensive Magic’ class you will come here for your own session with me. We will be doing it three times a week," I present her with my plan.

"What if my magic gets out of control? I have barely used it in the past 13 years and I don’t know if I can always control it," she says, holding my gaze.

Snow, my wolf, purrs in my head, and I ignore him.

"I will help you contain it. We will use crystals during the training."

She nods, still seeming a little unsure.

"We will start in a week. TJ informed me you lost a lot of blood and shouldn’t be in combat for a while. So we will keep it slow. Meanwhile, I will give you some books to read, which will help you gain knowledge regarding your core magic. Which reminds me, what kind of Fae are you?"

I do wonder which category she belongs to. According to what I know there used to be:

Elemental Faes (which could master earth, fire, water and air) One of these elements or the strongest among them could master all of them.

Electric Faes (those who could wield and control thunder and electric powers)

Healing Faes (had healing abilities)

Or the strongest amidst all an Omni Fae who possesses all these powers. The Fae who brought about the apocalypse in our world was an Omni Fae.

Omni Fae are extremely rare and according to the knowledge I possess from reading there have only been three Omni Fae in our recorded history.
